The presentation provides essential information on the accelerated learning approach to training and development. Components in A.I. are classified under three major categories for easy recall
2. WHAT IS ACCELERATED LEARNING ?
an intensive way of educating children and
adults which enables material to be learnt in a
relatively short time, with a focus not on what
should be taught but how a person learns
“
”o A.L. is more of a learning philosophy or approach than a rigid set of tools and
methodologies. Hence, there are varied definitions of A.L. available in Literature.
o The commonality in the definitions include A.L.’s focus on brain research to understand
the learner, and on a logic-driven creative approach to drive learning results.

3. TRACING A.L.’S ORIGINS
o Earliest mentions of A.L. trace back to Bulgarian Psychiatrist Lozanov, who
in 1968, used Baroque music and positive suggestions to successfully
rehabilitate his psychiatric patients. He called this technique
suggestopedia. He believed he found a way to tap into something in the
psyche deeper than rational consciousness.
o Lozanov, sponsored by the Bulgarian government researched the effects
of music and positive suggestions in learning foreign languages and
found that learners learnt significantly faster with greater effectiveness.
In 1970s other educators applied this approach in high school and
university teaching with positive results.
o In 1980, Center for Accelerated Learning was founded that promotes
Accelerated learning for Corporate training.

A Learning
environment with
access to tools and
frameworks aimed at
facilitating learning
A Learning program
design that allows the
learners to create
learning and not just
consume it
A Learning Support
system with
opportunities to
practice and reinforce
concepts learnt

5. CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT1
Where the mind is
prepared to learn
Borrowing from the field of psychology and Behavioral
Economics, design of spaces and atmosphere that keeps
Associates open to learning
Where the brain
is at its best
Concepts from Neuroscience and Educational research,
that keep the brain active and most prepared to create
learning
Where learning
happens best
Research from Instructional Systems Design and Adult
Education, providing tools and frameworks that act as
catalysts to the accelerated learning experience
5
An Accelerated Learning environment or A.L.E is one not just designed to
facilitate A.L., it plays a crucial role in making the A.L. program effective,
because of the following characteristics
6. GUIDED DISCOVERY2
Learning Coaches
or Guides
Learning Coaches or Guides observe learners as they try
creating the learning content, and provide just-in-time
feedback to keep the learner in track
Opportunity to
Fail fast
A.L. programs provide opportunities to fail fast so
Associates learn faster, with the guidance of their coach
Observing Learning
patterns
Learning coaches can help Associates observe patterns
in their self discovery to help them understand and
improve their learning methodologies
6
Guided discovery is that component differentiating accelerated learning
from a trial-and-error based self-learning. It promotes learning by doing
and expedites learning creation.
7. REINFORCEMENT & PRACTISE3
Performance
Labs
Labs that provide learners with the tools and simulated
real-time environment to apply and practice concepts
learnt
Collaboration in
Learning
A.L. programs focus on collaboration, based on research
studies that suggest that learning happen best in a
collaborative and not a competitive atmosphere
Reinforcement
techniques
A.L. programs incorporate set of scientifically tested
techniques that help reinforce concepts learnt
7
After learning, participants in an accelerated learning program will have
opportunities to practice that learning in real time scenarios, to further
clarify understanding and to reinforce what was learnt.
