3. Cognitive Approach
•The cognitive approach began to revolutionize
psychology in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s , to
become dominant approach.
•The cognitive approach is a relatively modern approach
to human behavior.
•Cognitive approach is the study of mental processes
such as “ attention , language use, memory , problem
solving, creativity and thinking. “

second language acquisition as a
conscious and reasoned thinking
process , involving the deliberate
use of learning strategies.
