Method
 Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Is a method of
influencing brain behaviour (the “neuro” part of the
phrase) through the use of language (the “linguistic” part)
and other types of communication to enable a person to
“recode” the way the brain responds to stimuli (that’s the
“programming”) and manifest new and better behaviours.

3. B. History of NeuroLinguistic Programming
Method
Neurolinguistic programming was developed
in California during the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John
Grinder and claimed to be a set of models and principles to
describe the relationship between neurology and linguistics
and how their interaction can be used to program an
individual's mind, body and behavior. It is described by the
original developers as "therapeutic magic" and "the study of
the structure of subjective experience."

4. C. Purpose of NLP in Teaching
 As a teaching method, NLP ascribes great importance to
students’ conscious and unconscious thought and behaviour
patterns. It is through the understanding and modification of
these patterns that success in learning is achieved. A teacher’s
job, in turn, is to get to know these sometimes deeply rooted
characteristics of his/her students, to conduct relevant
exercises and to try to encourage the elimination of negative
behaviours and thoughts. Preferred styles of work should be
made use of, and the discovery of less preferred ones should
be encouraged. In other words, teachers should be able to put
themselves in their students’ position and thus help them
succeed.

6. E. Teachers and Students role in
NLP Method
In 1983, Howard Gardner put forward his theory of multiple
intelligences which puts learning styles into three main
categories: visual learning, in which the student responds best to
visual stimuli such as videos, demonstration, reading and charts;
auditory learning where the student prefers to have things
explained to them and kinesthetic learning where students learn
best when they perform an activity themselves, such as doing
experiments and taking part in practical lessons. Teachers are now
increasingly applying NLP techniques in the classroom for the
benefit of each type of learner, and it’s even being adopted as part
of the curriculum in some universities.
