All of the people who took this survey were students within my six form, these students
are all aged between 18 and seventeen however more of them are 18 years old.

I decided to ask an even amount of males and females so that my results would
not be completely bias to one gender.
Do you watch movies?
Yes No
I only included the results of those who watched movies, the results of those who
didn’t were not useful to me, neither were they able to answer the rest of the questions in
the questionnaire.
What is your favourite genre of movie?
Action Comedy Romance Thriller Other
Of the genre choices, the most popular, by a long way, seemed to be action. This was then followed comedy
and other, in the other category many chose horror, rom-com and also animated, animated being the most popular.
Thriller and romance were the lowest of the two, showing that they are not that popular among a student age group and
that action and animated films are the most popular.
How do you watch movies?
Cinema Television Online DVD Other
Due to the huge impact that social media and technology has on young people live, the potential to watch films
over the internet on applications like Netflix or via streaming sites has been increased. To many people,
watching movies over the internet has begun the normal procedure. Although cinemas are not as popular as online
applications, cinemas are the next choice for movie watchers. With the ability to gain access to films fro free online,
less and less people are buying DVD’s.

I found that many who took the survey only watched one or two films a month,
depending what films were coming out. There were some who only watched films
when they released in cinemas, this was not every month but every couple of months.
The bulk of students watched between one and three hours of movies in a month.
Do you watch the trailer for a movie before you see it?
Yes No
These results show that more people watch the trailer of a film before watching
the actual film. This shows that the trailer is a clear indication of whether a film is
worth seeing. The trailer is therefor the selling point of the film.
The most popular way movies are found about is via trailers. This may be due to

  • 4. Do you watch movies? Yes No I only included the results of those who watched movies, the results of those who didn’t were not useful to me, neither were they able to answer the rest of the questions in the questionnaire.
  • 5. What is your favourite genre of movie? Action Comedy Romance Thriller Other Of the genre choices, the most popular, by a long way, seemed to be action. This was then followed comedy and other, in the other category many chose horror, rom-com and also animated, animated being the most popular. Thriller and romance were the lowest of the two, showing that they are not that popular among a student age group and that action and animated films are the most popular.

Cinema Television Online DVD Other Due to the huge impact that social media and technology has on young people live, the potential to watch films over the internet on applications like Netflix or via streaming sites has been increased. To many people, watching movies over the internet has begun the normal procedure. Although cinemas are not as popular as online applications, cinemas are the next choice for movie watchers. With the ability to gain access to films fro free online, less and less people are buying DVD’s.

There were some who only watched films when they released in cinemas, this was not every month but every couple of months. The bulk of students watched between one and three hours of movies in a month.

This shows that the trailer is a clear indication of whether a film is worth seeing. The trailer is therefor the selling point of the film.
