Kate Hinson conducted a questionnaire to determine what elements to include in a crime/thriller film trailer. Most respondents were female aged 16-21. When asked what persuades them to watch a film, all selected the storyline. Half expected to see violence in a crime/thriller trailer, while 25% expected adult actors and illegal activities. Popular props included cash, police cars, guns, helicopters and cars. Favorite crime/thriller films mentioned actions scenes, hostage situations, and gun crime. Respondents expected to see crimes, car chases, illegal activities, violence and robberies. Most said a trailer should be 2-3 minutes long.
