Questionnaire results
Question 1-2
The first question I asked in
my initial questionnaire was
‘how old are you?’ I
discovered that the
majority of people who
answered my questionnaire
were between the ages of
14-17. This is a good age to
target as our movie trailer
will more than likely be a 15
rated movie.
I also discovered that the
majority of the people who
answered my questionnaire
were females.
Question 3-4
I discovered from question 3,
‘what genre of film interests
you the most?’ that most
people between the ages of 14-
18 are interested in the thriller
and the romance genre. This
was good feedback because I
realised I am aiming at the right
age group. Most people that
age find the thriller genre
interesting and intriguing.
I also discovered that most
people who answered my
questionnaire have seen many
thriller movies. Especially
Skyfall, Inception, Taken and
Shutter Island. All of these films
contain the typical themes of a
conventional thriller.
Question 5-6
I then asked a question about whether
people prefer tension and suspense within
a trailer, or a romantic theme. I discovered
from this response that the majority of
people enjoy a trailer that creates tension
and suspense than a trailer that has a
romantic feel. This was an excellent
response, because a conventional thriller
has an element of tension and suspense
within it.
I also discovered from the response on
question 6, ‘state below movie trailers you
have enjoyed, and what effect they had on
you’ that a lot of people enjoy trailers that
provoke fright within them! People like
the element of tension and fright, which is
an excellent response because the thriller
genre conventionally contains elements of
fright and tension.
Question 7-8
I then asked what movie trailers
people didn’t enjoy, and why they
didn’t enjoy them. Hardly any of the
trailers mentioned were thrillers!
Most people aged between 14-18
seem to dislike comedy trailers that
do not come across as being funny.
I also discovered that the majority of
people that answered my
questionnaire tend to watch movie
trailers before the film is released.
This was also a good sign because I
am creating a trailer! I need to know
whether my target audience are
going to watch and pay an interest
in movie trailers; the results show
that they do indeed pay a great
interest in a movie trailer.
Question 9-10
I then went on to ask people how long
they think a trailer should be, (finding
out how long they would be interested
in watching a trailer for.) I discovered
that most people believe a trailer
should be between 1-2 minutes. This
was valuable feedback, because I now
know how long my trailer should
be, and how long people will be
entertained and interested for.
I also discovered that people’s least
favourite genre is horror. This was also
interesting feedback because I now
know that my thriller sub-genre
shouldn’t be horror-thriller, a
psychological thriller would be more
appealing to my target audience.
