This is a powerpoint to show the results from survey. I asked 21 people to fill out a questionnaire consisting of a series of 10 questions about films and film trailers. I then collected the data, put it into various different graphs and charts, and then analysed the information. This gave me more knowledge into my target audience's opinions about film trailers, and what genre film I should consider making.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

1. Analysis of Questionnaire Results
To begin my questionnaire, I started by asking how often the respondents watch
horror films, I used this as my opening question to establish how popular horror films
are. From my results, I have gathered that most people watch a horror film once a
fortnight, although my results varied, with 2 people answering never and 2 watching
them weekly. This broad range of answers demonstrates that although some
individuals may not watch horror films frequently, the majority do, clarifying the
popularity of horror films.
Following the previous question, I went on to ask what their favourite horror film is,
gaining valuable insight into the most popular sub-genres of horror films. The results
I obtained show that the audience like mysterious horror films that keep them
intrigued throughout the film. This gives me a good idea of how successful my horror
trailer idea will be and ways I could possibly improve and adapt it to make it appeal
to a wider audience.
My third question investigates where the viewers are most likely to watch a horror
film, with the results showing that the majority watch them at home or at a friend’s
house, and none of the respondents going to the cinema to see the film. Therefore,
the films are going be successful upon release even if the audience do not watch
them in the cinema, as they are still paying for the film to then watch it at home,
ensuring that a profit is made and that the film is a success.
One of the most important questions that I included in my questionnaire was
regarding the film’s trailer, with the question posing, ‘Do you watch the trailer before
viewing the film?’, and with 80% of respondents answering yes this reinforces the
importance of an effective trailer. I went on to ask if the trailer influences their
decision to watch the full film to see how important the trailer is to the audience,
showing that it is a pinnacle part of the process with 70% of respondents claiming
that it does influence their decision to watch the full film. Therefore, this has allowed
me to identify the effect a good trailer has on the success of a film.
The following question explores the different aspects of horror films, asking the
audience to choose their favourite features, with the choices being suspense, gore,
music and characters. Although the answers on this question are spread across the
choices, the majority of the respondents chose suspense as one of their answers,
meaning to make my horror trailer a success amongst the audience, there should be
suspense within the plot, making the viewers feel uncomfortable yet intrigued to
watch the full film. In addition to this, the further answers show that music and gore
are also two aspects which the viewers look for within a horror film, meaning that I
should consider the impact of these features and possibly include them in my trailer.
This question also reiterated the importance of characters and plot with these also
2. being two of the chosen answers, which means that to create a successful trailer I
should clarify the plot as well as including an effective character establishment.
To explore other influences I included another question which asks what other
factors they consider before viewing a horror film, with the options being director,
Production Company and actors/actresses. The director of the film seems to be what
people initially look for when deciding whether to watch a horror film, with 50% of
respondents choosing this as one of their answers, and 70% also saying that
actors/actresses heavily influence their decision. These two answers have made me
realise how important the production values are to a film and the impact well known
stars can have on the success of a film. With these aspects in mind, I now know to
include popular stars in my trailer as well as claiming it to be directed by a notorious
director.
Question 8 of my survey was to explore how much of an effect the marketing plan of
a film has on its success. The question asks, ‘Are you influence by the marketing of a
film?’ with 70% of respondents claiming that they are influence by the marketing of a
film, although the remaining 30% said that it does not. With these results in mind, I
can now evaluate the impact of marketing and decide the best ways to make my
trailer a success.
The last two questions of my survey are undoubtedly the most important questions,
with question 9 including a synopsis of my trailer and asking the respondents if they
would be interested in seeing the film after reading it. With 90% answering yes and
10% answering no, this gives my group and I a clear idea of how successful our trailer
will be as well as considering which aspects would not be as effective.
My final question explores what aspects of the synopsis the respondents found
interesting and what we could improve upon. Most of the responses claim that the
storyline taking an interesting turn would encourage them to view the film as well as
others claiming that they like to see murder within a horror film. These answers will
help my group and I develop our ideas further and create a more successful storyline
which will appeal to most viewers, from taking the responses from this particular
question into careful consideration.
In conclusion, my questionnaire has allowed me to identify the pros and cons of
marketing, the effect of plot and character establishment as well as the popularity of
horror films as a whole. Therefore, I now have a better understanding of how to
make my trailer a success by including all of the pinnacle information that
encourages the audience to watch a film.
