2. HOW OLD AREYOU?
For my first question I asked what the age
of my audience was. My results show that
the majority of people who took my
questionnaire were of the ages of 16 to 18.
This shows me that the content that I put in
my magazine will need to appeal more to
the younger side of my target audience.
3. HOW MUCH WOULDYOU PAY FOR A
MAGAZINE?
In this question I asked my audience how
much they would be willing to pay for a
magazine, this way I am able to figure at
an appropriate price to price my magazine.
My results show that 12 out of the 30
people who took my questionnaire said
that they would pay between £3 to £4 for a
magazine. My results also show that 10
people said that they would pay £2 for a
magazine.
4. HOW OFTEN DOYOUTHINK A MAGAZINE
SHOULD BE PUBLISHED?
In this question I asked how often readers like a
magazine to be published.
58% of the people who to the questionnaire said
that they prefer a magazine to be published
monthly.
5. WHAT BANDS DOYOU LIKE?
In this question I asked what bands the target
audience for my magazine enjoy listening to, this
way I would be able to include these artists into
articles and images in my magazine. Having the
target audiences preferred artists means it will
draw a reader to the magazine as they will want to
read.
The results of the question show that 39% of
respondents said that they like the band Red Hot
Chili Peppers therefore I know to feature them in
my magazine.
6. WHAT BANDS DON’T YOU LIKE?
In this question I asked the target audience
which bands they do not like, this way I can
find out which artists I shouldn't’t feature in
my magazine so people will want to read.
My results show that 52% of people said that
they didn’t like or didn’t know of the band
Biffy Clyro therefore they will most likely not
be featured in my magazine.
7. WHAT ISYOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC
MAGAZINE?
I then asked my target audience what music
magazines were their favorite, by doing this
I can then take a lot of inspiration from
these popular music magazines and take
ideas from these and incorporate them into
my magazine.
The results show that NME magazine was
the most popular music magazine within my
target audience therefore I will do extra
research into the magazine.
8. DOYOUTHINK A MAGAZINE SHOULD HAVE
LOTS OF PHOTOS IN IT?
In this question I asked the target
audience whether they thought it was an
important factor for a magazine to
contain a lot of images.
87% of the respondents said that they
think a magazine should have a lot of
photos.This means I should include a lot
of images.
9. HOW MANY PAGES SHOULD A MAGAZINE
HAVE?
In this question I asked the target
audience how many pages they think
there should be in a magazine, 59%
of respondents said that they think
there should be 50-59 pages.
This data depends on how often I
decide to publish my magazine as a a
monthly magazine would usually
contain more content therefore
more pages.
10. WHAT AREYOUR FAVOURITE COLOURS?
In this question I asked the target audience
what colours were their favourite out of
the ones listed.The most popular colours
chosen I will create the colour scheme for
my magazine.
The 3 most popular colours chosen by the
respondents were black, red and blue
11. SHOULDTHE FRONT COVER OF A MUSIC
MAGAZINE HAVE AN INSTRUMENT ON IT?
I wanted to know if my target
audience thought it was an important
feature to have an instrument on the
front of a music magazine, although it
was close the majority of respondents
said that there should be an
instrument on the front cover.
Therefore when I take my front cover
image I now know to have an artist
hold an instrument.
12. BEST NAME FOR A ROCK MAGAZINE?
In this question I asked my audience
which magazine names they preferred
out of the listed ones so I could choose a
masthead.
The results show that the majority of the
respondents liked the name ‘Unplugged’
the best out of all the options.
13. WHAT’S IMPORTANTTOYOUWHEN
BUYING A MAGAZINE?
In this question I asked which
features were most important to
you when purchasing a magazine.
This way I would know what articles
and features I must include into my
magazine.
My results show that the
respondents think the articles are
what should be focused on most.
14. HOW MANY COLUMNS SHOULD A DOUBLE
PAGE SPREAD?
In this question I asked my target
audience how many columns they
think there should be in a double page
spread article.
The results show that the respondents
think there should be 4 or more
columns in a double page spread article
therefore I will make sure that my
double page spread article has 4
columns.
15. DOYOU ATTEND GIGS OFTEN?
In this question I asked my target
audience whether or not they
attended gigs frequently, this way I
could find out whether or not I
should include articles about gigs in
my magazine.
The results show that the majority
of respondents do attend gigs
often.
16. WOULD A GIG REVIEW ARTICLE BE A GOOD
ARTICLE IDEA?
I asked my target audience whether they
thought an article where the magazine
reviewed monthly gigs was a good idea,
so I could include this kind of article in
my magazine.
All of my respondents said that this kind
of article would be a good idea.
17. WOULDYOU READ A MAGAZINE ONLINE?
In this question I asked if my
target audience would read a
magazine online, this way I
could feature an online version
of my magazine.
The majority of my respondents
said that they would read a
magazine online.
18. HOW DOYOU PREFERTO BUYYOUR
MUSIC?
I wanted to find out how my target
audience prefers to buy/listen to
their music, so I gave three options.
41% of respondents said that they
prefer to download their music to
their phones.
19. HOW MANY COLUMNS SHOULD APPEAR
ON A MAGAZINE?
In this question I asked the target
audience how many columns they think
there should be on a contents page.
The results were very split but the 58%
of respondents said that there should
be 2 columns on a contents page.
20. WHAT ISYOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE OF A
MUSIC MAGAZINE?
I asked my target audience which
article ideas they preferred the
most out of the four listed.This
way I would know which articles I
should definitely feature in my
magazine.
50% of my respondents said that
they thought a gallery of photos
from gigs of that month would be a
good idea.
