After analysis from my graph, I have found that there is a close range of
males and females that will be interested in magazine. Therefore, I have
opted to follow a gender neutral colour scheme to appeal to the masses.
The most common age range from my questionnaire is 16-19, with 75% of the
participants selecting this. This successfully supports my primary target
audience that I originally chose for my magazine. This feedback will allow me to
be specific when creating certain articles aimed at a certain age. Coincidentally,
the second largest age range of 20-23 is also my secondary audience. I think this
is as they will more than likely being wage earners.
The most common genre of music that people who answered my question listen
to are equally rock and alternative music. This successfully supports my aim of
having my music magazine primarily alternatively influenced with rock as a sub
genre.
I have found that NME was the popular music magazine that the people
I asked read. This will successfully support my idea of taking inspiration
from this magazine as I feel it has the most appropriate layout and
structure which would be relevant to my age range.
I have found that iTunes is the most common way of consuming music from
the people that surveyed. This will help me decide which promotional
offers I should feature for a particular brand. For example, I now know it
would be wiser to offer iTunes vouchers rather than Spotify discounts as
less people use this website.
I have found that a substantial amount of people listen to music for more than 12
hours a week. By using this statistic, I have found that a large amount of the
people surveyed are interested in music. Therefore, I am inclined to inform the
reader of heavily music related facts relating to a featured band or live show.
I have found that 60% of the people I asked are attracted to a music
magazine based on the band/artist that is primarily featured. This statistic
allows me to ensure that the artist feature is clearly displayed as more
people are likely to consider reading my magazine.
I have found that 50% of the people surveyed enjoy reading album reviews. This
is an important fact that I will incorporate into my music magazine as it is what
the customer wants. Live reviews finished in a close second with 45% of the
people surveyed saying they are interested in gigs that have happened recently
which could persuade them to going to see that same act next time.
I have found that 80% of the people surveyed would only be prepared to pay
up to £3 for a music magazine. This is a fair price that I will be making sure to
incorporate into my magazine as you need a sale for it to have any chance of
being a success regardless of the content. I found only one person that I asked
would pay up to £5 which is clearly representation that I shouldn’t go above
the most common price range.
