2. Do the pages of my magazine look
consistent with each other?
40%
60%
Yes
No
• I asked this question to see whether my three
pages of my magazine were consistent with
each other and to see if people think that they
appear to look like a part of the same
magazine.
• My results showed that only 60% of the people
asked said that it did look consistent. However
40% of people said that they didn’t think they
looked consistent. I investigated why on
question 2.
3. If no, what can be done to improve
them?
• “The backgrounds of the pages are all different and to make
them more consistent they could all be the same colour or
pattern, specifically the contents and double page spread.”
• I agree with this as the black background on the double page
spread isn't consistent with the pattern overlay background on
the contents page.
• “The colours are all quite simple and the same on each page but
you wouldn’t imagine that all of them would be exactly the
same; they should have other colours as part of them also.”
• The colours I used were red and black and white on all pages but
a professional magazine would’ve had different colours also but I
did maintain the three main colours on the page.
4. Do you think the colour scheme fits
with the rock music genre?
1)I think the colour scheme is good because red and black are typical colours related with rock
2)I think the red isn’t quite powerful enough to make the magazine seem rocky
3)I like the three colours used; white, black and red
4)I think it’s good you’ve used black as it is the main colour used to represent rock music
5)I think you could’ve included a bright colour like yellow to make your magazine more eye catching
I picked the colour scheme because I saw that in most
professional magazine that red was used, I did change it
slightly though by making it a darker red. This would be the
reason why, in the second response, that they didn’t think the
red looked very rocky. Black was an obvious and simple colour
to use for my magazine and is seem in all rock magazines.
5. Which age range would this magazine
aim at? (10-15, 16-22, 23-30)
• 10-15 (1) 16-22 (4) 23-30 (0)
• These were the results from my questionnaire.
Almost all of the responses picked the correct
age range that I aimed my magazine at.
However one person chose 10-15 years old
which was not the one I aimed at. This means
that I had obviously left elements in my
magazine which was aimed at people younger
than the range 16-22.
6. How does the magazine appeal to the
chosen target audience (16-22)?
1)I think the topics that are shown on your front cover are very specific to the target audience as they
involve festivals and concerts etc.
• I chose to include these different cover lines because I knew that my target audience would be
interested in these type of updates after I completed my research.
2)Your audience would be attracted to any new updates on bands and artists and you have shown this
through your cover lines and the contents, as well as the topic in your article.
• The genre of the music magazine would suggest that any readers would want to be informed on
changes within the artists life and their music updates.
3)The article is very specific to the audience as you can see they mention the album release that would
interest the reader and also talks about their fans, aka the people reading the magazine.
• This article is aimed to be the same written style of an article in a typical rock magazine, including
details about tours and fans and albums.
4)On your contents page you have named many bands that will be talked about in your magazine and
these are all bands that are relative to the genre.
5)I think that the colours and the layout are all quite interesting and would intrigue the audience, also
the titles on the contents page are all areas of the music industry that would be of interest to this chosen
audience.
