The document discusses skills learned from using various photography and design software. It summarizes:
The photographer used a Panasonic Lumix camera to take portraits and learned it had face detection autofocus. Photographic lamps were also used to control lighting and create shadows.
When using Photoshop, the creator learned how to adjust brightness to make images more professional, and how to crop out backgrounds and replace them. When placing images over mastheads, they learned to create new layers for overlapping elements.
Additional skills mentioned include adding stroke effects to mastheads, using text wrapping around images in InDesign layouts, and creating columns to structure articles.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 Camera Review
1.
2. Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10
I used this camera to take my photo’s of my models. When
I was using this camera I learned how to use it, such as I
learnt that this particular camera focuses onto my models
face which gave me a better quality image.
Another type of technology I used was the photographic
lamps which gave me more control with the lighting.
From the lamps I learnt that by placing them in different
angles I could make shadows.
I used Photoshop to create my
front cover and content page
I used Indesign to create my
double page spread
3. One of the first thing I learnt
when using Photoshop was
how to change the brightness
of the original image. This
made my image look more
professional and also it made
it look more eye catching.
4. Another thing I learnt
about Photoshop is that
you can crop out the
background and put
another background on it.
To crop the image I used
the magic wand tool
which draws out an outer
layer of the image that
you want to delete.
5. When I was creating my mast
head and placing it behind my
model the mast head was
overlapping the my models head.
I learnt that in order to make it
look like my mast head is behind
my model I had to create a new
layer of my models head.
I leaned how to use a the
cloning tool which allows you to
clone a area of your image
which creates a new layer.
6. When I was creating my mast head I learnt that you could
add a stoke affect which adds a second colour to the
edge of the mast head, this made my mast head stand
out more as I used a darker tone of red. Also I could
change the size of the stoke and the opacity which gave
me control over how much I wanted the dark red to show.
7. When I was creating my double page
spread I learnt that the text could
wrap around the image. There are
two types of text wrapping that you
could use. I chose to use wrapping
around the object because it looks
more professional and goes with my
layout of my article.
Wrap Around Bounding Box
Creates a rectangular wrap whose
width and height are determined by
the bounding box of the selected
object, including any offset distances
you specify.
Wrap Around Object Shape
Also known as contour wrapping, creates
a text wrap boundary that is the same
shape as the frame you’ve selected (plus
or minus any offset distances you specify).
8. Another thing that I learnt
when creating my double
page spread was how to
make columns for my
article to make it look like
a professional article.
