Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to
the full product?

Time Management
• I think that I managed my time a lot more efficiently for my main task than
my preliminary task. This was mainly because for my main task I had more
things to think about due to adhering to my target audience.
• I had to think about much more elements to think about for example, the
shot I was going to use, color scheme, props, lighting, composition of my
model and the genre of my magazine.
• Time management for my preliminary task was a minor problem. The
models intended to be used for my photo shoots originally were unable to
fulfill this as our free time in and outside college differed greatly. I
overcame this by rearranging my models who were free when I was which
allowed me to carry on with the production of my products.
• For the production of my coursework, I made sure beforehand the models
I assigned could fulfill my requests which made my time management
easier.
Preliminary Task
Final Products
Construction
• My finals products in comparison to my preliminary
products are much more in detailed in terms of layout and
pictures. Looking at the fonts I used for my preliminary
task, they seem really basic and plain which made the
whole product unprofessional. However, on my final
product I used fonts which met my conventions of my
magazine, I also researched into fonts to use. I created a
detailed analysis outlining the strengths and weaknesses of
specific fonts which I felt represented the forms and
conventions. I took inspirations from XXL and Vibe when
researching fonts for my own magazine I did this to help
make my magazine fit the forms and conventions of these
professional magazines as my magazine intends to have a
similar target audience.
