Question 6
What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of
constructing the product?
Cannon EOS 600D
For the images I used the camera Cannon EOS 600D I am not someone who regularly uses cameras, so before
taking the shots I watched a couple of tutorials on you tube to get to grips with how the camera works
manually such as checking the memory card and also finding out how to use features such as changing the
ISO, f-stop and shutter speed. It was very important to get a good shot as this meant less editing would have to
be made on photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop was the software we used to edit and create the magazine, once again I hadn’t used adobe photo
shop previous to the tasks so I made a couple of practise images to get me used to how it works such as the
‘fish tank’. In the final production I used to photo shop to edit the photos such as using the magic wand tool to
get rid of the background and blemish the artists face to get rid of spots etc, on the contents page one of the
photos was made purposely blurry but I wanted to make it more profound to do this I added a fade effect to it
to make the face of the artist more unknown. Putting the whole magazine together was very fiddly and by the
end I was a lot quicker at making small changes to the magazine. Other thing I did throughout the magazine
were an orange to yellow gradient on the front cover copying shapes on the contents to put the features in
and copying the colours from different pages to keep the colour scheme the exact same throughout.
The internet
The internet was also used a lot, obviously using blog spot to upload throughout the production how I getting
on, other things that I used the internet for were you tube to look at tutorials to help me get to grips with
things such as how to work the camera and Photoshop. Slide share, this was the first time I had used it and this
enabled me to power point slides and put them on my blog. I also used the internet to find information on
magazine companies I modelled my magazine on.
