evaluation
1. How did you use media technologies in
the construction and research, planning
and evaluation stages?
2. To create my media product, I had to use a variety of
different media technologies to help produce my final
piece.
For the research, planning and evaluation I mainly used
the Macs to find out what I needed to create and to
make sure I followed the conventions of existing media
products.
For the research I used a variety of different internet
sites so that I was able to see what information I could
find on different sites. I used YouTube, Google, Wikipedia,
Blogger and SlideShare.
Though doing this I had to learn a lot about each of the
programs that I used and how they worked.
3. Apple Macs
To create Forgetting we had to use the Apple Macs. I was already familiar with the Macs as I had
used it before with AS media. However, there were some programs on the Macs that I’d never used
before like iMovie, keynote and pages. The Macs have helped develop the quality of our short film as
there was ways that made the film look better, for example iMovie. The Macs are very easy to use
and are just like any other computer I had used before.
4. Blogger
Blogger is something that I’ve used before. I had to use this in AS media, it’s very easy to
use and it’s not confusing at all. Uploading my videos were simple and they showed up
well on my blog meaning it was very interactive and was well presented. Blogger was a
way of showing my work to my teachers as they were able to follow my progress and
were common with blogger as well so if I had any problems then they would be able to
help me with it.
5. iMovie
This is iMovie. Since the beginning of this task, I have had to learn how to use iMovie. At first it was
quite difficult to get the hang of it, but after a while it was very easy to use and was easy to figure
out how to edit everything that needed to be edited. The short film Forgetting took a lot of editing
to do as there was a lot of work involved making sure everything that needed editing was done so
that the film would run smoothly and flow like a normal, professional short film that had been
made with a bigger budget than what we had.
With iMovie there was a lot we had to understand and use within making our film. Throughout our
film there is a lot of transitions that have been used so that the audience can follow the story line
through and it makes it more interesting as it isn’t just plain and boring.
6. Keynote
Keynote is something new that I had to learn how to use on the Macs. It’s like a Microsoft
Powerpoint but the apple version. It’s very easy to use and is something that didn’t confuse me
when using it. I’ve used keynote in the evaluation stages as it meant by evaluations wouldn’t be
boring and would make it a little bit more interesting to look at.
7. SlideShare
I’ve never had to use slide share before but seeing as I’ve decided to upload presentations to
my blog, SlideShare was a way of doing this. To start with it was hard to understand as I didn’t
get what I needed to do so that the presentation would go on my blog, but as soon as I
uploaded one video, the rest were easy to do. SlideShare is an easy way of presenting my
evaluations for my blog.
8. Panasonic
For making our media product, we had to be able to use the digital recording cameras so that we could get
the filming right for Forgetting. The cameras were very easy to use and was something that I’d never used
properly before as I’d never had to do much filming before at school. However, it was very easy to get the
hang of using and was something that I am now comfortable with using without any confusion.
