Interview
with an Artist:
Catching up with
Ashleigh “Renoir” Kasper
Nights turn on days
And seasons run through years
But how one particular day will be?
Life is here and only now.
Babies grow from children
Into adult and into their own
But the length of relationship?
Life is here and only now.
Moments are what we have to live and share
Yes to plan for the future.
But to live as if there were none
Enjoying all that God has given
So as not to miss what has always been
A groaning creation waiting for an imminent return.
Tears, stream down and hands reach for
What is so seldom given:
A life wrapped in moment living
And never deaf to sorrow nor blind to love–
For life is here and only now.

3. brand
identity
Branding and corporate identity is a big part of a
business’s success. The theme for King’s Taste was bold,
dark colours and saturated reds to show the company’s
elegance. The orange and black were used intentionally to
invoke an appetite in the customer, as colour theory states
that warm colours are more appetizing than cool shades.
To the right is a business card, front and back, designed for
the company.
Shown opposite is a simple four page brochure and two
single-page advertisements using a grid. All images and
photography for this company are original, except the four
page brochure which was required to incorporate stock
images. All other product photography was captured by
Ashleigh Kasper.

KING’S TASTE
It’s not just because we have the finest dining in New England.
It’s because we guarantee our food will satisfy your appetite and make you
fall in love with beautiful Rhode Island. So pamper yourself, and enjoy the best cuisine.
Go ahead, try to find a more perfect restaurant and location... we dare you.
4. greyscale
newsletter
full colour brochure
In order to create a challenge, and to make business
ventures more economical, more simple greyscale newsletters
and advertising was made for each mock company I created.
These fliers and branding were designed to work in greyscale
as well as full colour. In this sample newsletter, one colour
was allowed and I chose a desaturated green to go with the
turtle theme.
Full colour illustrated brochure, in addition to the catalogue and advertisements for the mock company King’s Taste Gourmet
steakhouse. The company was based on a waterfront property, thus many of the illustrations were targeted to customers who were
seeking a relaxed, but high class dinner.

6. annual report
FromLife
FromLife
Annual reports can be incredibly boring, due to the
large amount of information and statistics they contain.
For this reason, I wanted to make my annual reports as
visually appealing and enjoyable as possible. This company
was called the Aquatic Gardens. Sadly, my backup files
crashed so I no longer have the high quality pdf of this
annual report, but it remains one of the most enjoyable
projects I’ve ever taken on in graphic design.
All photographs in this annual report are completely
original, captured by Ashleigh Kasper. Most were shot at
botanical gardens in Las Vegas, Nevada, though some are
of the beautiful fish tanks in New England Aquarium.
Wildlife photography has been a hobby of mine, and it
greatly contributed to this project.

typography
Four typography posters were designed for this project,
all around the same poem but with different visual themes
for each. The two on this page were drawn completely
digitally, freehand in Adobe Photoshop.
The two on the opposite page were made primarily with
traditional media, the “Life” illustration drawn with
charcoal and coloured pencils.
Doves in the second picture opposite are composed with
the text of the poem, repeated as necessary to create an
illusion of a dove. The background, however, was painted
on canvas with acrylic and photographed.

8. gradient mesh
& painting
Freelance illustration has been my passion since
graduating college. I specialise in freehand, photorealistic
digital painting. This is a wonderful advantage I have,
as I can illustrate anything (or any one) that I choose to
have in my graphic design work, even if I am not able to
photograph them myself.
Painting has always come easily to me, both traditionally
and digitally. However, I have experimented with gradient
mesh and vector drawing, as shown opposite. The picture
shown is a simple drawing of my dear friend and her dog.
Though I wish I would have put more detail into it, I am
satisfied with being able to complete it within a week.
