How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stage?
Megan Finch
Researchand Planning
• GOOGLE
Google enabled me to search just about anything I needed to know
through its online search engine. It was a very valuable resource and
provided me with key information I needed such as genre research at
the beginning of A2 and convention research for me to gain precious
information and influence on real media products I am mimicking.
• EDUBLOGS
Edublogs is an educational website for student and teacher blogs. It
allowed me to organise my work all onto one personalised page which I
could call my own and present my work neatly and efficiently. I could
post anything from text and images to PowerPoint presentations and
videos to show the process and development of my coursework which
was really useful when it came to handing everything in on time.
• YOUTUBE
YouTube was a major help when it came to
researching and gaining experience of
conventional movie trailers. Not to
mention the hundreds of tutorial videos I
could watch on Adobe programmes so that
I could achieve skills I didn’t have before
the course began. It was a massive help to
use these tutorials to make my products as
professional as possible.
Editing Software
• Indesign is a graphic editing software which
allowed me to create, edit and arrange my
images into magazine form. I used this
application to create my cover page, I was
able to easily arrange and tweak the design
to perfection using this software.
• PremierePro is a timeline based video editing
software which allowed me to edit and
arrange the clips I gathered for my trailer
into the correct sequence. I found at first
that the application is very complex but now
looking back on my development, I feel very
confident using PremierePro. I wouldn’t have
been able to create my trailer so successfully
without this application.
• After Effects is a digital motion graphics and
composition software which allowed me to
explore my skills further in making different
and interesting special effects. This
application was the most difficult to use, the
complex layout and unfamiliar aspects of the
software resulted in my having to watch
YouTube tutorials to learn how to use it.
• Photoshop is a popular graphics editing
programme used to adjust and edit images.
This application was very useful when
making my movie poster, I learnt how to use
the dodge/burn tools and magic wand effect
which I was unfamiliar with before the
course began. The software simple to
navigate around and I enjoyed making my
products here.
Technilogical Convergence
• After spending so long creating my three products I can see and understand how
important technology is not only in presenting and making my work but during
the research and planning phase. From simply taking a photograph to filming a
clip for my trailer I have used a numerous amount of technology methods, none
of which would have worked without the editing software (adobe applications).
Every aspect of technology I have discussed on this PowerPoint has converged
and added majorly towards finishing my products to a high standard.
