6) What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
- Quark:

One of the types of technologies used within constructing my work would be Quark, Quark was used for the
production of my double page spread and contents page as the software was easy to use and allowed simply
conventions such as columns to be placed and used without difficulty.
Though Quarks software was helpful, there was limited ways to alter fonts and images that I wanted to
incorporate into my magazine, this had to be downloaded from sites such as DaFont.com.
From using this technology I now have a better understanding of how the operational settings within quark work
in which case will help me in future projects.
-Photoshop, tools:
Photoshop was the main contributor to the production of my work,
the variety of tools used allowed me to broaden the amount of
effects within all three pages, making them appear more
professional throughout.
Firstly, when I had taken my photos needed for my front cover,
contents page and double page spread I would edit the levels
within the picture, making them appear bolder and brighter.
Without this, all my photos they would appear dull and less
appealing to the target audience.

Following this, I then incorporated a drop shadow and stroke onto my
photos once editing the hue and saturation, this made my images have a
3D look about them, as though they were standing out against the rest of
the page.
The pen tool was one of the most frequent tools in the
production of my pages, it allowed me to cut out the people
within my images easily so that they stood independent without
a white background behind them, making them more prominent
on the page to the reader.
This picture on the left shows the custom shape tool, this icon allowed me to introduce puffs into my piece, an
essential convention of a front cover magazine. I then combined this with the drop shadow as well as a shadow
within the puff itself so that it looks darker and better suited for my theme of magazine. From now knowing how to
work and shape this tool it will help me in future productions.
These two picture show the patch and spot healing tool, these are essential for airbrushing and
getting rid of blemishes from the people used within the images of my magazine. They make the
models used appear more glossy with less imperfections, this type of method is normally used in
magazine construction as the aim is to make the photos look as high-quality as possible, so using this
type of tool helped me well and will assist in future projects.
-Photoshop, tools continued:
This icon shows the magic wand tool, this was used most out of the variety of tools in Photoshop as it allowed me to make quick
selections on parts of images I wanted to delete. From now knowing how to work this tool it will speed up construction of future
projects and allow me to get a more precise cut out of my piece.
This tools shows the gradient tool I incorporated into my work, it allowed me to add blending colours into the background
of my work, making the house style more prominent and original. Without using this tool I would have had used block
colours for all 3 of my pages, yet through using this tool I could use the same theme of colours throughout.

-Blogger:
Blogger was the most important factor of technology within production of my piece as it allowed me to layout each
segment of my work clearly. The blog I have created builds up from research of the market place right to the development of my
production, showing the steps in which were taken for the production of my front cover, content page and double page spread.

-Photography, cameras:
We also used different types cameras within the production of the pages, we used the high tech SLR cameras as the
quality of the images were clear and bold. From the images taken, they were easily editable and responded well to the
changes of hue and saturation within the overall layout.
