The document analyzes different masthead designs for a music magazine. For each masthead, the author notes what they like about the design and why they may or may not choose to use it. 2.  I like this masthead because it is plain and simple
but has a shiny effect on the edges of the letters.
This makes the letters look like they are under a
spotlight which could link with an artist being under
a spotlight when performing on stage. I don’t think I
will progress with this masthead because it doesn’t
look that interesting to my.

3.  I like this masthead because the letters are very
bold and have a shadow behind them which I think
is very effective because it makes the letters seem
more interesting but I don’t think that I will progress
with it any further because I think it doesn’t
resemble the genre of music my magazine much.

4.  I like this masthead because it is very bold which
makes it stand out more. I also like that it looks 3D
which could be effective on a magazine front cover
but I don’t think that it links with the genre of my
magazine and I personally don’t like the style of
writing.

5.  I like this masthead because the style of writing and
the lines within the letters makes the whole letters
look interesting. The purple shadow behind the
letters looks very effective as it gives them a little
3D effect. I don’t think that this style of writing will
link with the genre of my magazine so will not
progress further with this masthead.

6.  I like this masthead because the font of the writing
looks like it could resemble the genre of my
magazine. I also like black outline of the letters
because it makes the whole thing stand out more
which I think will work well on my magazine front
cover as it will stand out amongst all the other
things on the front page. I also think that the shiny
effect of some parts of the letters look professional
which also gives me a reason to use this on my
magazine.

7.  I like this masthead because the style of writing
look very retro but the colour seems very flat. I like
that the two main letters are joining which is
effective because they are both part of the
masthead. I think that the other letters go well with
the main two letters because it clearly shows what
each individual letter means so it makes the whole
thing look more like a masthead.

8.  I like this masthead because I have put all the
things I like together which are the style of writing
that I think links very will with the genre of music my
magazine is about, the two main colours that I have
used throughout my designs which I think work well
together as the colour black makes the edges of the
letters stand out more which gives it a 3D look and I
have added the other letters to the main letters
which makes it look more effective as the audience
will know clearly that the magazine is.
