Question 4 and 5.
WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT AND HOW WOULD IT
     ATTRACT YOUR AUDIENCE?
Target Audience

My media product would broadly target a male
student aged audience with an interest in Brit Pop
music. This certain demographic audience would
benefit from my magazine as it relates to both the
origins of Brit Pop and the new artists that are being
related and categorised in a Brit Pop genre such as
Noel Gallagher‟s High Flying Birds and Beady Eye.
My Ideal Reader

My ideal reader for my media product would be a teenage
boy aged 18, who has a huge taste in music, especially
Brit Pop and interested in today‟s current Brit Pop/Indie
bands. They‟d like hanging around with friends, have an
interest in girls and would regularly take trips to their
local pub and watch current local bands when possible.
In Portsmouth they‟d like going to the Wedgewood
Rooms and see local bands like Mojo Dollar, Cojacks
Revenge and Dave Barrett. They‟d also take a lot of pride
in their appearance, especially their hair cut and style. It
would be reasonably long, shabby and messy to get that
„bed head‟ look.
Mood Board
(To reflect my target audience‟s other interests.)
Other types of media my audience would consume

My target audience would probably read a newspaper
every other day of the week and it would most likely be
The Sun purely for entertainment value and for the
Bizarre column which sometimes mentions and
Indie/Mod band or celebrity. They‟d also constantly
download latest albums and singles to put on their iPod‟s
or iPhone‟s and would of probably heard the latest music
on Q Radio or Radio 1‟s later shows as this would be
another media they would consume. They‟d watch the
music television channels and probably documentaries
on The Beatles and John Lennon and would be interested
in comedians such as Jack Whitehall as he‟s a young
student(ish) comedian and my audience could relate to
 his dry humour.
What would they do in their spare time?

 Part-time job (minimum wage)
 Socialise with friends
 Go to the pub (to consume alcohol and/or listen to
  local bands)
 Go to see local bands at the local music room and
  guildhall.
 Surf the internet (to browse clothes, music festival
line-ups, look at the latest music chart and artists)
 Probably smoke and consume alcohol often.
What people have said about my media product.

scheme, it attracts me too it.” – Student aged 17.
 “I like the picture on the
                                  front, that‟s what would
                                  attract me. He looks good”
                                  Female Student aged 17.
 “I could see this advertised down my pub and yeah I‟d
happily sit and read this with a pint.” – Male 19 Year Old.
 “I like the aggressive cover line, and because I

         Student aged 18 Years Old.

                                               attractive model with a clear

              This is to attract my

make it clear that it s a
              MOD special

                                            stereotypical MOD line that would
be said by a Brit Pop front man.
