Question 4 - Who Would be the
Audience for Your Media
Product?
Research
• During the research for who may buy my magazine I came to the
conclusion that I'm doing a magazine that would appeal to those in
the pop genre. From this I researched and used my own knowledge of
the pop fan stereotypes. I decided to create a moodboard which is on
my blog and made a survey monkey to see what my target audience
would like and what they wouldn't like feature in my magazine. This
new information allows me to challenge my stereotypes and broaden
my audience.
Survey
• I got a unique range of results for my survey but got help from some
of the ideas suggested. From the results I didn't think were the best I
decided to use my own knowledge for what would be best for my
magazine.
Reader and Audience profiles
• I created 3 audience profiles for my magazine and one
of which wouldn't be suited for my magazine to define
my audience more. By doing these audience profiles
you got to see a more personal connection with my
audience and learn things like why my magazine is a
good thing for certain people in my target audience.
Doing this made it easier to define my target audience
as you could easily pick them out from fashion choices
and personality although some people with the same
interests may not necessarily be a fan of my magazine.
Later on I also created a reader profile using my
audience profiles likes and dislikes and information
from my questionnaire and wrote about who would/
wouldn't buy it.
