How did I find who my target
audience are?
I found my target audience by creating
surveys to hand round my college as I
already knew I was aiming to create a
magazine for young females however I
needed to know more about them and what
their likes and dislikes are etc.
I made a survey to hand to girls in my
college on www.surveymonkey.com I
adapted the questions to what I want to
know about my target audience. I used a
range of quantative and qualitive questions
so that I have detailed information if I need it.
As well as handing these surveys out around
college I also shared the survey on my
twitter and asked people to fill it in for me.
What I asked in my survey
and why?
I asked 10 questions in my survey,. The first one I asked what social
media they used, I asked this because the younger generation now
days spend most of their spare time on the internet and because of
these new smart phones and iPads etc it means they’re able to access
them 24 hours a day therefore I have to include links to the social media
sights they use in my magazine. The second question I asked was the
age of the individual to see what ages I am actually catering for. Then I
asked how often they read magazines to determine whether I should
produce my magazine weekly or monthly. One of my unique selling
points is having a chart update in every edition this is why my next
question was how regularly do they keep up to date with the chart. I also
asked about a price that is suitable for them and how much they’d pay,
what festivals they’re interested in to determine where id sell my
magazine, other questions on my survey were asking what attracted
them to a a magazine and what they look for.
Reader Profile
why I created it?
A reader profile is a
profile of the target
audience, it should
include like and
dislikes etc. I created
it on photoshop to
show that I know
everything about my
target audience. I got
the information off
my surveys.
Who are my target audience?
My target audience are females aged between 16-25 that love and have a
passion for pop music.

What do I know about them?
They enjoy; socialising with friends, using social media sites, going to
concerts and festivals, nights out with friends and keeping up to date
with the chart.
72% of my readers are still studying in college or university and only 23%
have a part time job meaning the price of my magazine has to be
reasonably low for them to afford it.
