Front cover
The masthead matches with the lady's coat from the image
The image is a long shot of two people in the image.
with the man looking care free and the woman doing the facial
expression chocolate box both from the theorists Millum and Ferguson.
This magazine doesn't’t use a lot of regional language from the front
cover but the use of ’a new kind of southern’ kind of seems a bit less
casual but the layout does give off a formal vibe
Also magazine is very generic magazine following the layout of most
regional magazines with limited sell lines.
The setting of the image is also unique and continues with the theme of
regional identity.
Finally, the tagline reinforces to the reader who this magazine is for, and
why they should buy this magazine.
Contents page
This page looks very full with a good
dominant image contrasting with the
colours on the page. This contents page has
re-shown the masthead of the image just so
you get the magazines name imprinted in to
your mind. This Contents page tells you a lot
more about what’s in the magazine
compared to most contents pages. It also
has separate segments for things in the
magazine making it easier to find things.
This contents page follows a good layout to
other contents pages and even has a plug to
buy your magazine.
Double Page Spread
The dominant image goes across both
pages of the double page spread which is
pretty unique. I like how the font has
faded with the background of the image
which is the shot size of a mid shot. This is
a non regional dps so you can tell that the
way it’s wrote is a lot more formal despite
trying to look cool and different with a
common question and answer format on
the right. The magazine looks very arty
with the settings of the colours on the
page matching with the font. I feel like
more images on this type of double page
spread wouldn't’t fit well and it all looks
good with minimal blank space.
Billboard
This is a billboard for Avon, what
I’ve found out from this is is that
Billboards need to sell your brand
and be eye catching. I recreated
my own billboard and this has
helped me as I’ve found a white
background with large black text
worked the best to see my image
when driving past. I don’t want to
put to much on my billboard as I
may bore my audience. I’ve also
found out that a lot of billboards
are high up making it easier for
people to see across the road.
