Before designing a new music magazine, I conducted audience research through a focus group questionnaire to understand the wants and needs of my target readership. I used the answers from the focus group to design the magazine's content and features in a way that specifically appealed to that audience. To get feedback on whether I successfully appealed to my target group, I distributed another questionnaire to the same focus group members asking if their views were represented, if the design and content appealed to them, and if they would purchase the magazine.
1. Question 5: How did I appeal to
and attract my target audience?
2. Audience Research
Before designing my music magazine I
conducted audience research to ensure that the
content of my magazine appealed to my
identified target audience. (Target Audience
sourced from readership profile)
3. Who Was I targeting?
I was targeting the audience which I had pin
pointed in my readership profile. I wanted my
magazine to appeal specifically to their wants
and needs so I conducted a questionnaire to a
focus group of my target audience and used
their answers in the design process of my
magazine.
4. Conducting Feedback
To understand if I have appealed to my target
audience I will conduct feedback in the form of a
questionnaire.
This will be given to members of my target
audience who took part in my focus group and I
will analyse their feedback.
5. Questionnaire based on earlier focus
group questionnaire.
1. Do you feel your views were taken into account
from before?
2. Which features show this?
3. Are you happy with the overall design?
4. With the knowledge the magazine was designed
to target you based off your previous answers
do you feel this has been achieved?
5. Does the content of the magazine appeal to
you?
6. Would you buy this magazine?
