1. Question 4
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and
evaluation stages?
Blogger
I have been using Blogger since AS media, just like A2 media we used it as a platform to
upload my coursework including, pre-production, production and post production.
This was the first time I had ever used it so it did take time to get used to, however I think
it’s really easy now and means is a good thing for keeping all my work together in one place
so I and other people can view it easily.
Camera
For filming used the schools Canon 600D camera, I used this for all my shots, I found it
easier this time round as I hadn’t ever properly filmed anything before AS media.
The camera is good standard quality and now is easy for me to use. For the steadiness I also
used a tripod which made my hots look more professional and less shaky.
YouTube
I have used YouTube since a very young age, looking at videos created online, I feel that
doing this from a young age has meant that I have experienced ad emerged myself in videos
that have been created and edited. I used YouTube a lot throughout my A2 media
coursework especially for preproduction to look at other music videos in my EDM genre.
YouTube was also very useful for me when I was in my editing process, I watched tutorials
especially for After affects and Premier pro which is very useful as it meant I could edit my
clips well. YouTube was overall really useful, it was also where I uploading my final video for
people to view easily.
2. Twitter
I chose to contact my chosen artist via social media, therefore I used twitter to do this. I got
a response back within minutes, this just shows how good social media is with connecting
with audiences and other media creators.
Prezi
I have used Prezi for both my AS and A2 media evaluation and pre-productions. It’s a simple
easy product to use and I think it looks very professional and good on my blog. I used Prezi
for question 2 on my evaluation, I enjoyed creating this media product because I feel like my
audience will enjoy looking at it and won’t get bored like they might with other media
platforms like power point.
PowerPoint
I have used power point throughout my whole school life, therefore I am easily able to
create a good professional looking PowerPoint. Therefore I used it in my pre-production and
evaluation in AS and A2. It is an easy to upload to blogger I just have to convert it though
slide share which is also a very quick and easy process. I also used PowerPoint to create my
floor plan as I could easy use the shapes for the different props I my filming process and to
show where the camera would be positioned.
Word
I used Microsoft Word for the shot list as it was easy to put into table in Word. Word is a
very easy programme for me to use.
3. Premier pro
To edit my music video I used Premier pro. AS was the first time I had use the programme
and I have developed a lot of skills and knowledge in how to edit my music video. It’s now
an easy programme to use for me. Tutorials are very useful for me especially when it comes
to editing my music video as there are still a lot of things I don’t know how to do on premier
pro, I hope that in the future I do keep on improving my knowledge and skills within this
certain area as I feel I’m good at it now.
Photoshop
I struggled the most when it came to using Photoshop this year as didn’t need to use it in
AS. Although with a guidance from YouTube, peers and my teachers I feel like I created a
good digipak and poster for my project. By using Photoshop it meant that I was able to
create the colourful EDM theme within my project. This Is why on my digipak and poster
you can tell it is edited to create this EDM bright colourful ‘look’ I did this my using the
gradient tool and the Hue effect then changing the opaqueness so that the image could still
be seen, leaving this colourful rainbow effect over the top of the picture.
