What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Throughout my main task, posters, magazine and also
the ancillary tasks, I have benefited massively from
audience feedback of my target audience. I have done
this in order for my film to be effective, realistic and also
on areas I needed to improve on. This feedback meant
my colleague and I knew exactly what the audience
wanted to see and as a result of this it has means we
have a understanding which leads to a better final film.
As I was creating the first draft of the poster for the
film, I asked a few friends of mine who are keen action
film fans what they liked about the poster, what features
stood out and how could I improve it. As a result of this
feed back it meant I knew exactly how to improve the
poster, e.g. adding on social network site pages etc.
We then decided to get feedback from our classmates
regarding three possible log lines and took into account
what they thought of each one and then which one did
they think was the most effective. As our film is aimed
at the late teens/young adults and Henri and I thought it
would be most effective to present the class of 15 our
log lines which produced more reliable and valid results
and was more effective than other qualitative methods
such as questions as the results produced from them
aren't always effective.
Another way we benefited from audience feedback was
from youtube. We posted the first draft of the short film
on their and let the viewers say what was good or bad
about it. This was a very helpful way to gain feedback as
it gave us an exact idea of what the target audience
wanted. Unfortunately due to the short film only being a
school A2 productions it wasn't very popular with the
views and only received a few comments (which were
helpful), which as a result meant we had to look harder
into how we could get better audience feedback. This led
us to deciding we needed to show a focus group the film
and let them write their views of the film on a
questionnaire of which we collected in straight away
once they had finished which meant they were reliable
and not rushed, giving us valid and effective audience
feedback.
