What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Evaluation
This media product project was fully audience orientated and I ensured
that I carried out tasks such as research, planning and evaluation in order
to ensure that my final products were suitable.
My main target audience is males 18 – 30 (young audience). The use of
different media platforms and tools allowed me to develop my
understanding of what my target audience needs were and how to meet
these within my own media texts.
I produced a questionnaire which I distributed to my young target
audience. Overall the results showed that my target audience
requirements were met effectively and to a high standard.
I used these results to adapt my ideas and allow the results to give me a
better insight of my target audience to make my media products to
become more successful.
Once the media products were produced (1st drafts), I chose to upload the
trailer to YouTube in order to gain wider audience feedback (focus group).
As YouTube is the biggest platform and owned by Google, it was only right
to see how many views, likes and comments I would receive. As I recently
uploaded it, I got view but not comments. The views shows it is slowly
progressing as the media platform will help push my trailer further.
YouTube is a quicker way to see
how many views and likes I have
received. So far 81 views in a few
days and 1 like. This shows that 81
people for my target audience
have seen the trailer. However, I
could have improved on
promoting the trailer further and
receiving more comments and
likes.
I printed out versions of my magazine and poster and interviewed around
the target audience. The feedback was a positive and overall comments
were positive. Here are some of the results presented from my twitter
feedback to show what people think of the overall package as a whole.
The tweet shots that I do have some feedback by receiving 11 retweets
and 4 favourites. The use of hash tag allows a wider target audience to see
the media package.

I used my Smartphone as this was easily accessible and sent out versions
of my trailer to people via email and Facebook for feedback aswel. Here is
another example Via email through my school email account.
I have received some positive feedback from the email and this shows I
am targeting people near me and are taking into consideration of other
viewpoints. Rishi’s reply was very handy as he pointed out I had a clear
narrative etc in my trailer.
Conclusion
The general audience feedback was extremely useful and gave me
suggestions for improvements and adaptations. As some feedback was
face to face and over Web 2.0 sources, this meant that I was able to
interact effectively and instantly. I made relevant improvements as soon
as and be able to ask further extended questions. This allowed me to
make changes to my media products. For example, the image on the film
poster changed three times, first from the mock up to an alternative
poster and then to the final product. From the research I had created pie
charts to help my understand my data to a correct format. This gave me a
better idea precisely of how marginal each answer was and to take this
feedback on board.
