2. I believe that the audience feedback was the main thing that resulted my final products to
be a success. Although the whole task of planning and research took a lengthy amount of
time, it helped improve my products and made it more suitable for my target audience.
Although I believed that It was coming along just fine when
planning my products myself, I found myself continuously
questioning myself ‘But is this what my target audience like
too?’ This then led me to carry out questionnaires and
focus group survey's to which I gained a great deal of
information about my audience’s interests and information
– personal or not.
I also carried out a view profile on just one individual
who represented my target audience specifically. The
information I gained from this research allowed me to
alter my original ideas on planning my product in an
effective way to planning something that not just I like,
but the whole of my target audience too.
3. I have learned a great deal from my audience feedback. I learnt the basics when conducting
my questionnaire but then I learnt about my target audiences interests when performing my
focus group survey.
The Questionnaire provided me with basic information about the gender of the person,
their age, their preferred genres, their cultural identity, their interests in conventional films,
how many times they visit the cinema and so on. This led me to base my teaser trailer on
the generic form of drama due to its highest amount of preferences the option received in
the questionnaires. I then put forward a focus group survey to get a more detailed
description of what my target audience would think of my initial idea of my teaser trailer,
poster and magazine cover. Their feedback gave me much knowledge about what to include
and what to illuminate to make it more effective to my target audience range.
The comments I received mainly pointed to the importance of time and setting as
sometimes it is difficult to determine a drama genre. Overall, I was happy with the feedback
received and knew that I could definitely benefit from their opinions in making my final
product seem a lot more authentic than my original idea. I gained a lot of knowledge from
my feedback and am happy to have received such a critical evaluation when people
reviewed my work. For this I am incredibly thankful for having people give me points of
improvement.
4. Below are questions I asked my audience after producing them with my finished products:
1) How effective do you believe the links are between the three final products?
a) ‘I think that you achieved your overall aim to link all three products with the same
white writing and black background. You did this well’.
b) ‘I can definitely tell that the girl is depressed and seems isolated from the rest of the
world, and that’s the narrative so that must be a good sign’
1) Would you change anything from the magazine cover? Why?
a) ‘I think that there is too much going on in the magazine cover, there’s too much
entertainment on the side so cut down on the ‘PLUS’ section’
1) What would you want me to improve on the teaser trailer?
a) ‘I think you should have spent more time on the teaser trailer, especially on the
editing and sound. Maybe next time add more effects.’
1) Does the poster seem professional to you?
a) ‘I think the poster came out really well, and would definitely be persuaded by it to
watch the actual film!’
b) ‘It is absolutely stunning!’
1) How do you feel the overall product came out?
a) ‘I think the poster and the magazine came out incredible’
b) ‘The teaser trailer needs a little work on, but the other two products are pretty cool’.
