What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
Liam Penn
My audience feedback has been really effective.
It has allowed me to progress and adapt towards
a more professional and appropriate package for
my target audience. I received my Feedback from
both members of my class who contributed a
professional opinion and I also received feedback
from my target audience. At first I only asked
peoples opinion in person and I did not use any
forms of social media.
I presented my Treatment to my music video to a group of college
students who were my target audience. Their reaction
was fairly positive and enthusiastic about my ideas. This initial
opinion was important to receive as it allowed me to understand
what my target audience wanted and where to expect of my
video.
When I had finished my rough
cut for my music video I
then proceeded to gather
feedback from class mates in
order to get a
more professional opinion.
This feedback
was moderately positive and at
this point they liked the
storyline that I had written in.
However they did agree that I
needed to re-film a few shots
and attempt to vary my shot
angles. They also stated that I
should probably attempt more
band footage. So I then had to
set about filming a few new
shots of 'the band'.
After I had finished my second rough cut I released it to my target audience. It was
important to receive feedback from both target audience and class mates in order
to create something which was professional and something that my target audience
actually wanted to watch. They suggested that my lip sync was out of time and
some of the shots were noticeable that I had filmed them on different days. This
was fairly positive feedback as I knew I would only need to colour correct and re-
edit my original footage of the lip syncing so it matched the beat. Mainly this
feedback was predictable as I was not expecting it to come out perfect.
When gathering feedback for my Dipipak I asked my target audience which font would
be the most appropriate and effective to use for my title. I gave them an option of 6
fonts to choose from. They stated that they liked the 5th Font the best. This was
predictable as the other 5 fonts I had provided were either too bold or did not stand
out enough. I then continued to question my target audience which position they felt
would be the most effective in my digipak. (Shown in the pictures below) Either 1,2 or
3. The results showed that the first picture was the most effective according to my
target audience.
In the end I found the most
effective way of asking the
opinions of my target audience
was through social media
networks such as facebook.
Throughout this project I only
asked the opinions through
the means of questionnaires
or unstructured
interviews/viewings where I
asked for feedback. I chose to
publish my final music video
on facebook. It received some
great responses and some
good feedback.
If I had a choice to do this project again I would have
started using Facebook and other social media
websites at an earlier date to receive feedback from
target audience. It also allowed we me to attract a
larger target audience who may not specifically listen
to folk music but might still enjoy listening to it.
