QUESTION 2
How does your media product represent particular social
groups?
 My subculture is people that are a fan of RNB. My magazine is
for the lower/working class as those people are associated with this
RNB. That’s also why my magazine is only £2.50. I believe my
models have appropriate clothing on forb the genre I have chosen.
For example, snapbacks, trainers, jeans etc. I have chosen young
models as this would attract my audience more because they’re
young too. The way in which they have been made to dress is only
to attract my audience. I used a range of ethnicities as my audience
consist of a range of people. The lighting of my picture are bright
so that it clear to see the image. The language that I have chosen to
speak in would be understood by my audience. During a previous
task we had to analyse a press pack. Which is where I was made
aware of what I needed to add in order to make it as good as the
professional ones.
 My model is dressed in a way that is relevant to my
target audience. This is typical for this genre. The way
in which she is posing and has been dressed shows
that she confident and comfortable as she's in casual
clothing. The brick wall connotes the areas in which
my social group hang around. From the research I
had done made me decide that this what was what I
was going to dress my model in. The hairstyle is also a
big factor as, this is now a trend in the RNB world and
so I thought that having her hair like such would be
ideal.
This tells us that
XXL has more of a
male audience than
they do of a female
audience. From this
you can see that I
have tried to
challenge the forms
and conventions of
RNB magazines as I
have tried to aim in at
both genders equally.
The age for this
magazines is 27/29+
whereas for mine its
18+, the reason to
why I have used
young models.
Many people associate
RNB with
African/American people
but from my own
knowledge and experiences
I can say that a lot more
people with different
ethnicity's listen to RNB.
And so I have made my
magazine target different
types of ethnicity's.
