Question 2: How does your
media product represent
particular social groups?
BY TASNIM CHOUDHURY
Models and Audience
 The main model I have used for my magazine is someone who
represents my target audience of 16-25 as she is 17 years old. Also,
because my target audience is mainly African-Caribbean the
model becomes even more relatable as she is also of this
descent. By being the main Artist, and the image on my front
cover, It means that the target audience are immediately
attracted to my magazine because it relates to them.
 My main model is a female, however I also have male models
presented in the contents page which further shows that my
magazine is non gender specific as I tried to appeal to both males
and females. However it may mainly appeal to females as they
may be the only young people that want to read a magazine of
this nature and this genre of magazine may appeal to them more
than males.
Clothing
 Another way to represent certain social groups and
the target audience of my magazine is through
clothing. I have mainly used quite casual clothing in
order for the target audience to be able to relate to
my magazine. I think this is a good way to do this as
people that read the magazine may wear similar
clothing or may be inspired by the clothing in the
magazine.
 On the contents page one of the artists is wearing
very casual clothing being just a jumper, jacket and
jeans. This represents the young people that my
magazine is aimed at because this sort of clothing
appeals to them mainly.
Language
 The language that I have used in my magazine is
fairly simple and easy to understand. This is
because, my target audience is not aimed at a
certain educational level which means that I
wanted anyone within the target audience to be
able to read it.
 However, I still wanted to maintain a level of
professionalism as it is a magazine to be sold in
stores, therefore I did not use any slang or non
standard terms in order to maintain a level of
formality.
