1. Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Model: Rebekah Whalley Aged 16 Model: Lydia Richardson Aged 16
Age:
Age is represented in my magazine as the main features are only of teenage girls. I used the same
aged girls as those in my target audience which suggests people of that age should buy my
magazine.
Gender:
Gender is represented in my magazine as both my main features are of girls, although my target
audience is both genders. I had no male models, because they were not available at the time. This
represents that women can be independent. It is a positive image of the gender, I have shown this
by the make-up of the models and the clothes of the models, they both look professional and the
pictures look organised and prepared for. The models look well-presented; this gives a positive
representation of the female gender.
Social Class:
Social class is represented in my magazine as they are working-class yet successful. This shows that
they can become successful in which ever area they choose. Also the clothes of the models don’t
look cheap, they look well-presented as in they have had their hair and make-up done especially for
the shoot. This shows they are wealthy.
