2. I think we represent the psychographic group very
stereotypically as the font used for our title is a graffiti type font.
This shows the resistance to following the crowd and conforming
to what is expected. This links in with the reformer description
of ‘freedom from restriction’ and ‘independent growth’.
At the same time, because we have gone along with a similar
style to other magazines, this is slightly against the Explorer
group as they are the first to try new things and do not like the
ordinary.
The social groups we target are the demographic groups of C1 –
E and the psychographic groups of Reformer/Explorer.

3. I have matched the stereotype of our demographic groupings as C1 –
E don’t need any kind of sophisticated style, it has to be relatively
simple to successfully communicate with the lower tiers but at the
same time remain interesting enough to keep the attention of the
higher tiered groups.
I have done this by having a relatively simple cover with few taglines
and only one main image. This ensures that the cover isn’t too packed
but yet still contains enough information to be interesting and make
the reader want to know what is inside.

4. I have also challenged the idea of the Hegemonic Marxist theory as
although Ryan is the central, and only, picture on my cover,
connoting the idea that because he is a male, he is in charge and has
more authority, I have then challenged this on my contents page as
Magdalena is the only picture, showing that she has just as much
power as he does. This is then subverted again on the double page
spread because although they are both in the image, Magdalena is
smaller and lower down, this shows that although Magdalena is the
base of the band, because Ryan is newer and more interesting to
readers, he contains much more power in the current situation.

5. Also, our magazine follows the stereotypical representation of the
rock groups. People who listen to rock are perceived as very moody,
outcast, dark characters and we have followed this stereotype by
having Magdalena in her black leather jacket with red lipstick and
Ryan in his black jeans and having Magdalena not smiling in her
picture, as if she is better than other people. At some stages we have
subverted the stereotype as Ryan’s shirt is white rather than a dark
colour and he is smiling and in the picture of the two together,
Magdalena is smiling whereas Ryan is not, to show that Magdalena
is happy with the new arrangement but Ryan is still quite lost and
confused.
