Question 1
- 2. This is my music magazine front cover which is a rock magazine aimed at teenagers of both genders. As my magazine is targeted at both genders, the band that is mainly featured in my magazine are unisex and the lead singer is a women establishing female empowerment.
- 3. My media product uses conventions of real life magazines as the main features included on my front cover consist of a masthead, a cover image and cover lines, which all magazines usually include to catch the eye of the reader and so that they recognize the artist featured on the cover.
- 4. My media product mainly challenges real media products as the colour scheme in my magazine is very dark making images and fonts appear brighter to contrast well. I have challenged conventions by including a wide variety of font shapes and sizes to infer which texts are the most significant. For example, ‘Saint Lucinda’ is written in red with sharp points at the edge of letters implying their importance and edginess in rock whilst ‘Einstein album out now’ is wider and much smaller to not draw attention away from the cover image.
- 5. My cover develops certain conventions as I have included features that most magazines aim to include but I have not used too many features as I did not want the cover to be too busy, instead I have made sure that I have filled in blank spaces and the fonts and images do not overlap the faces from the image.
- 6. My music magazine is quite similar to popular rock magazines such as Kerrang as the colour schemes are alike with the use of red and yellow to demonstrate the power and love of rock and yellow for the puffs to stand out. I have developed real media products, as I have not overly edited my front cover image as the light shining upon their faces is from the light on a phone and not from special effects.
