Capitalism In Death Of A Salesman
The American Death: An Analysis of Death of a Salesman
After World War II, The U.S. entered into a time known as the Golden Age of Capitalism. A major
ideology that developed during this time was the American Dream. According to Merriam Webster,
the American Dream is a happy way of living... that can be achieved by anyone... by working hard and
becoming successful. Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman critiques this ideology through the
outcome of Willy s life and in light of Karl Marx s ideas in Alienation.
One way Miller critiques the American Dream is through Marx s idea of proprietors and propertyless.
Marx states in Alienated Labor that the whole society is divided into two classes of proprietors and
propertyless (171). Throughout the story, the audience learns Willy is part of the propertyless. This is
demonstrated when Willy and Linda have a conversation about the refrigerator. Linda mentions how
they are close to paying it off, but Willy replies that it just broke again (73). In light of Marx, since
Willy is not able to own his refrigerator, he is part of the propertyless. On the other hand, Howard,
Willy s boss, is a proprietor. The way Howard achieves this job is through inheritance. At one point in
the story, Willy asks Howard if he can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dream is dangerous because it causes a loss of one s identity and endless work towards an
unreachable goal. If people continue to believe this dream is possible, then the proprietor will continue
to exploit them. In the end, all the worker has to show for their work is their death. When they die, this
process will just continue with another worker. The workers may believe that they are assets to the
company, but in reality, they replaceable. While the American Dream may seem like a fantasy, it is
ultimately an endless cycle of the exploitation that can never be

Servant Leadership Characteristics Of A Servant Leader
In the broadest sense, a servant leader is one who leads others with the mindset of a servant. The
primary motivation of a servant leader is to provide encouragement and facilitation in others by
treating them as an ends in themselves rather than as a means to an ends. A servant leader values the
people he or she leads by sharing power and enabling others to develop and flourish (Waterman,
2011).
Waterman s (2011) study found the following:
The expression of servant leadership characteristics in service to others is putting other people first.
Every leader should have a servant s heart, show care and concern for others and be mentor minded,
that is, have the desire and concern to build and develop others, even at his or her own expense. (p.
25)
While there are many characteristics that are central to the development of a servant leader, the three
that stand out are respectfulness, selflessness, and commitment. Respectfulness is defined as treating
others as important people because they are important (Hunter, 1998, p. 112). Every person has value
and deserves respect. The servant leader can set the level of respect within the organization. Showing
the same amount of respect to an assistant as you would an executive provides motivation and
encouragement, therefore yielding a higher level of performance (Hunter, 1998).
Selflessness is defined as meeting the needs of others even before your own (Hunter, 1998, p. 116).
Being selfless is necessary to serve others and lead

Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong (February 28, 1918 October 23, 2007) was a well known wealthy Chinese born
Malaysian entrepreneur. He was recognized for his vision and courage in transforming Genting

established the Genting Group in 1965 to build hilltop resort that has a single hotel in 1971 and
expanded it where there are casinos, a theme park, several hotels, a convention centre and a golf
course. Tan Sri Lim was once the third richest man in Malaysia with a net worth approximate to be 4.2

While Tan Sri Lim planning this idea, many people started to misinform his plans by saying that he
wanted to turn this land of wilderness into a tourism resort. Most thought it was really risky and think
that Tan Sri Lim who was financially comfortable to be foolish to invest heavily in money and time to

After getting approvals from the Federal and State governments, Tan Sri Lim began the project and

Accident Report Involving Human Errors
NTSB Accident Report Involving Human Errors
Abstract
The American Airlines Flight 1420 fatal accident is reported as a runway overrun accident. The NTSB
(National Transportation Safety Board) investigated the accident on what would result in the accident.
This work s basic objective is to put emphasis on the human aspects that resulted in the accident by
applying the Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFCAS). It also incorporates the
Swiss Chess approach to link the series of events that eventually became the set of events that
triggered the accident.
NTSB applied the HFCAS in the analysis of the human factors in the flight, and it was enlightening to
see that it proved on how the fatal even occurred. The HFACS synergized with the Swiss Chess
illustrates the manner in which one occurrence resonates to the other. Also, the model revealed that the
resources and regulations of the company after inadequate monitoring, combined with the prevalent
weather conditions and fatigued flight crew instigated unsafe actions. This includes wrong judgment
and errors that took place before and during the landing of the airplane.
Introduction
The American Airlines Flight 1420 was on its way to Little Rock National Airport on the 1st June
1999. The pilot of the airplane was regarded as an experienced one. NTSB (2001) reports that the
aircraft used in the flight is a McDonnell Douglas DC 9 82 (MD 82). The flight was scheduled to
touchdown at 11:50 P.M. and had an on

Hubspot Case Study Essay
Problems
Founders Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah of upstart inbound marketing firm HubSpot have come
to a crossroads in their business model. The direction of the company must adapt in order to continue
on the stated path of growing as big as possible, as fast as possible. HubSpot is facing two problems
that it must address in order to accomplish its goals.
First, HubSpot has a corporate culture centered on an evangelical attitude towards inbound marketing.
HubSpot offers the services of inbound marketing, which uses strategies such as Search Engine
Optimization (SEO), the ability to write compelling content that attracts customers and the ability to
attract and engage a community of followers who interact with the content.

While not going so far as to begin cold calling for new clients, HubSpot could develop a targeted
outbound marketing campaign in environments such as industry trade shows that may open up the
company to potential customers who may have yet to hear of HubSpot, try their services or contact
them about service subscription. If done properly, HubSpot could use an outbound marketing strategy
for its inbound and outbound services while still staying true to its roots.
Alternatives for pricing
The pricing structure has the potential to evolve in a number of different ways. HubSpot could go
begin selling subscriptions for longer intervals beyond month to month to lock in customers for longer
periods of times. This could be particularly beneficial for keeping the Owner Ollies from canceling
services immediately after receiving the majority of the added value.
HubSpot could also begin charging B2B and B2C customers differently as well. B2B customers
derive greater value and could be charged an added premium or conversely B2C customers could be
given an added discount of services if combined with a longer subscription purchase.
Hubspot could also increase its initial fee of $500 for Owner Ollies who reap the majority of the
benefits upfront and who don t require as much customer service. A discount to this increase could be
coupled with participation with the CMS service, thus increasing the chance the customer stays with

The Political Influence of Women
Women Exert Significant Political Influence Women have never been able to exert any significant
political influence: discuss with reference to any one period of History that you have studied.
Throughout history women are often seen as subservient to men. This has led to the belief that they do
not have any kind of significant political influence. Based upon historical information, it is clear that
these views are simply untrue. This is because women have made a noteworthy contribution at certain
periods in time. A good example of this can be seen by looking no further than Catherine the Great of
Russia. She ruled the country from 1762 to 1796. During this time, she was able to introduce major
transformations that helped to modernize the nation. A few of the most notable include: improvements
in arts / culture, education, foreign affairs and banking / finance. The combination of these factors
changed the country and allowed it to become a world power. (Alexander 1995) (Del Testa 2001)
(Hyland 2003) (Streeter 2007) In the area of arts / culture, she encouraged many people to be creative
and share their ideas (based upon Western influences). This led to a Renaissance in literature, music
and sculpting and painting. At the same time, she created different museums and academies that
supported these views. This would have a positive influence on Russia by leading to the exploration of
liberal philosophies. Over the course of time, this brought the country closer to Europe

Conflict Between A Register Nurse And A License Practice...
As human being we all think, feel, behave and perceive life in different ways as we all have different
expectations. Conflict is part of life and it can be part of any situation. Especially in nursing field
where working as a team is highly emphasized, every member of the team collaborate together in
order to meet patient needs and improve patient outcomes. That being said, nurses have to collaborate
with coworkers that have different social groups, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. This paper will

criticizing angle that immediately lead to a defensive response by the LPN. The RN did not asked the
reason why this LPN was not able to help the patient but she jumped in the conclusion that the LPN
was not helping her in purpose. Furthermore, in this tensioned situation it seems like there is process
conflict between two of the nurses. Huber, 2015 defines process conflict as a conflict pertains to issues
of duty and resource delegation, such as who should what and how much responsibility different
people should have (p. 172). This confusion between the team members it is revealed sentences when
the RN tells the LPN that it was your job, you are assigned to Mrs. J. And the LPN responds to here
that I do my own work and part of yours. To better assist patient in medical field, nurses might
collaborate and work in team. The RN is fully competent in delegating the appropriate tasks to LPN or
UAP, yet she has to make sure to transmit her tasks by using clear communication, being concise on
what she wants to be completed, and within what time frame the task has to be completed. She can
delegate certain tasks to other staff members such as LPN or UAP; however, she is accountable for
what happens to the patient. Both the nurse delegator and the delegate must agree in the task and

Disadvantages Of Child Soldiers
Introduction
For most of human history, war has generally been conceptualized as a domain of adults in uniform.
However, in the past decades, a disturbing trend has surfaced children, both boys and girls, are
increasingly taking up arms. While this is not an entirely new attribute of warfare, the use of child
soldiers in history has been an exception and not a regular feature as it appears to be today. According
to international law, a child soldier is defined as any individual who is aged below eighteen and part of
an armed organization. A conservative estimate of the number of child combatants stands at 300,000
and this excludes the other half a million children who perform non combat duties in the army.
Approximately 75 percent of armed conflict in the world involves children fighters. The worrying
situation is best expressed by Peter W. Singer: Children, as young as 6 and 7 years old, are serving as
combatants on every continent but Antarctica. Given these statistics, one can speculate that there may
actually be underlying military advantages in using children to fight wars, and this is exploited by
those who employ them. This is the premise which I base my research on. Adopting the understanding
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of The Age Of Discovery
Portugal is known for initiating the Age of Discovery. They played an important role in exploration.
Many new lands were discovered, boosting trade, power, and wealth, during the Age of Discovery.
Early exploration began in the late 1300s and early 1400s under Prince Henry, aka the Navigator.
One key factor that led to Portugal s power was Ceuta, a major port city in north Africa, that
controlled ships entering and exiting the Mediterranean Sea. King John I, Henry s father, conquered
the city after being encouraged by Henry. On an early morning on August 21, 1415, King John I,
along with his sons, led an army to Playa San Amaro, a beach in Ceuta. They sieged the garrison and
took the Ceuta by nightfall. They went on taking four more islands off the northwest coast of Africa,
in which they explored and colonized.
In 1431, the Azores were discovered and colonized. In 1443, the Bay of Arguin was colonized, and
later, the Portuguese constructed a fort. By 1462, the Portuguese had explored the coast of Africa as
far as present day Sierra Leone These colonies produced extozic trade goods, such as wine, spices,
ivory, gold, and herbs, making the Portigal not only wealthy but also powerful. In 1498, the Cape of
Good Hope was discovered, but Henry never lived to see this great discovery. He died at the age of 66
in 1460. His legacy lived on. Henry s navigation and discoveries officially began the Age of
Discovery, and it was not long before other European nations joined.

Canada s Initial Reception Of Chinese Immigrants
Chapter Four: Canada s Initial Reception of Chinese Immigrants
Contrary to the United States initial warm welcome to Chinese immigrants, Canada began their era of
peak Chinese immigration with hostility. One large factor in why this occurred can be found in the
time frame of peak Chinese immigration to Canada which was after the United States enacted their
Chinese Exclusion Act (1882) which effectively prevented almost all new Chinese immigrants from
entering the US for the following decade. Because of that newfound barrier, Chinese that still wanted
to come to North America to take advantage of economic opportunities found themselves purchasing
tickets to British Columbia, Canada. However, sentiments towards Chinese in 1880s western Canada
were analogous to those present in the United States; those which led to the enactment of America s
Chinese Exclusion Act. As Chinese populations in California continued to grow, Americans found that
the Chinese began making economic conditions less than ideal for white laborers which later started
social uproar in the latter half of the 19th century. Because Canada is directly adjacent to the United
States, Canadians witnessed the economic woes of native born laborers along the west coast. As a
result, they became increasingly wary of Chinese currently in or the increasing number now entering
Canada. Between January 1881 and October 1884, approximately 17,00 Chinese entered Canada. A

Why People Follow
After completing the two readings, Why People Follow and Salsa, Soul, and Spirit , I now have a
better understanding of leadership techniques that could strengthen communities as well as the
performance of companies. I wasn t very surprised when seeing the four needs of followers from Why
People Follow : trust, compassion, hope, and stability. I thought that those were all characteristics that
were ideal to any strong and effective leader. Of the four, I felt the most surprise with compassion. I
didn t know how much being compassionate could have a lasting impact to those that follow you. I
thought before that leaders would focus more on instructing their workers rather than give love to
those that listen. I saw on the reading that those that have compassionate leaders are far ... Show more

For example, in Salsa, Soul, and Spirit , one of the eight communal policies was about leadership as a
social responsibility, the idea that all leaders should strive to bring equality and justice to everyone, no
matter what race or social status. I found that policy to align with the need of being compassionate,
seen in Why People Follow . I feel that one needs to truly be caring for the unfortunate before starting
any equality programs. One shouldn t help out others just to get some public fame. People need to
understand the seriousness of income and racial inequality before heading out and actually leading
social responsibility. Another communal policy, generating a shared vision, also aligns with the need
of having hope. During both instances, you as a leader need to have some direction going before you
start leading. You and your partners need to trust yourselves that you have the ability to move forward
and inspire others. Believing that everybody could would together and get things done builds
confidence not only for you but for those around you. That confidence is what leads to strong,

The Impact Of Pop Industry On The Music Industry
When discussing the pop industry today a general belief seems to form, that young musicians who
grew up with either rich or famous parents compose the majority of the industry. On the other hand,
the alternative genres of music are typically made up of people who grew up in the middle class or
lower class. Unfortunately their music never finds a market or receives play on the radio. That said,
technical avenues still exist for the alternative artist to make music. Twitter, Spotify and Apple Music
offer opportunities for a musician to promote their music. Also, live gigs and collaborations help boost
a person s music profile. Unfortunately, even with these benefits, many musicians cannot make
enough money to support their needs and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this challenge, Ed Sheeran set out to do just that. His mom helped by limiting his tv media We

to limitations by his family, Ed Sheeran moved out of his home in 2006 and headed towards London s
underground independent music scene.
After touring the London singer songwriter circuit for a year, Sheeran pulled together a small starting
fanbase. However, after a year making next to no money, he found himself on the streets of London.
He wrote two notable songs about living on those streets. In one, The City (Sheeran), he recalls the
many of the aspects of living in London. During the song, he relates city life to country life, and how
unnatural pavement feels. In the song Homeless (Sheeran), Sheeran expresses life on the streets using
quotes. While homeless, the singer songwriter slept on a number of friends couches while trying to
write music.
Ed Sheeran considered changing careers after struggling to make money and a period of couch surfing
(Showbiz). There came a point when I wanted to quit. When I thought, This is horrible. This isn t

Snakes By Danielle Evans Summary
.... because a girl of my age ought to be able to brush her own hair and it was a travesty that my
mother hadn t taught me (Evans 39). It is often the case that most people develop awareness of their
identity when they become involved in diverse social circles, neighborhoods, or schools. In Snakes ,
Danielle Evans carefully chooses the characterization of her characters to give the reader an insight
into the racial division that has been pervasive in America. Having never been aware of her biracial
identity, Tara confronts the reality of her identity when she leaves her parent s house to spend the
summer with her grandmother. Evans portrays Lydia, Tara s grandmother, as brutal, bigoted white
grandmother to draw parallel between her and white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The interesting part that makes this comparison even more noticeable is Evan s choice to depict Tara
as someone who easily falls for the trick as opposed to white Alison who she chooses to portray as a
smart kid that easily figures out grandma s propaganda, If a snake wanted to eat us, wouldn t it have
done it already? If a starving python was living in our lake, wouldn t all other animals be dead by
now? (Evans 45). Although one might think that Tara fails to catch grandma s lie due to her
intellectual capability, Evans does show us the opposite by suggesting that fear happens to be the
reason why Tara can t go outside, I wanted to believe her, but then I pictured myself being crushed
into fine dust inside of something so big that no one could hear me scream, vanishing without my
parents ever knowing what had happened (Evans 46). This passage accurately captures the reality of
black lives people in the 1900s. Media and the social hierarchy encouraged them to believe that they
were lazy, unintelligent, violent and overall inferior to white folks in almost every aspect of life.
According to Evans, most of black people were aware of such downright falsehoods, but couldn t do

Diversity Of Diversity At The Workplace
In this week s integrated article, review, I am focusing on diversity at the workplace. This is a topic
very relevant and important for any organizations success. Diversity at the workplace refers to any
characteristic that makes people different from one another.
Today s workforce is a diverse mix in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, generational attitudes. It is
important for an organization to adopt diversity management practices to bring this diverse mix
together into a stable productive unit.
The marketplace is more global driven by advances in communication and technology. For many
organizations, managing diversity at the work place is an integral part of their culture. Management of
diversity makes every employee sensitive to the needs and differences of others. In the first article,
Diversity management practices do they make a difference 1 a study was conducted on diversity
management practices adopted by local governments in recruiting, hiring and retaining a diverse

I found this article interesting because it reviews how diversity is managed from the grassroots level in
a government setting. It was suggested that a diversified workforce could solve problems in a better
way due to their diverse perspectives and skills and thereby increase organizational performance.

A Doll’s House and Top Girls
A Comparative Essay of A Doll s House and Top Girls Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Caryl
Churchill s Top Girls both are a pillar of critical writing about the society they were originally
produced in and have a central theme of the oppression of women, which makes them great sources of
feminist reviews. Although Ibsen abandoned the concept that the play was about gender roles (Urban,
1997), the central question is beyond the original context within which the plays were produced and
received. A Doll s House can be regarded as criticism of the 19th century marriage norm, the work of
the naturalist and the romanticist movement, whereas Top Girls considers gender roles and necessary

Police Gang So I Chose The Mexican Mafia
The topic my group and I decided on was Prison Gangs. Our subtopic was to choose a prison gang so I
chose the Mexican Mafia. I chose the Mexican Mafia subtopic because it was recommended to me
from another group member. At first the book did not seem interesting because this is a book I would
not normally pick up on my own. This book will talk about many things from its early history of the
Mexican Mafia in chapter one to rival gangs in Chapter twelve. Chapter one talks about gang s early
history, prison gangs did not start in prison, they had to be street gangs; Mexican Street gangs have
been in California since the 1900. Mexican street gangs from the south side of Los Angeles had over
50,000 members 600 from different gangs. The founder of the Duell Vocational Institution (DVI) from
Tracy, California was a man named Luis Huero Buff Flores. The original members of these street

Calo and very few, close to none spoke Spanish. What shocked the author was that the members of the
gang were at some point in time were rivals on the street. Flores created the gang but did not run it, the
book says he made it so no one man controls the gang but instead everyone voted, and the majority
won. He wanted all members to have equality.

Diego De Valera
The exact birthplace of the next author, Diego de Valera (1412 1488) does not emerge from any
existing documents, but consensus has accepted Cuenca as this place. Although several studies have
been completed that question his paternal lineage, he is believed to be the son of a doctor named
Alonso Chirino and María de Valera and was of noble lineage or minor nobility, which made it easier
for him to enter Juan II s Court (Contreras 27). Valera arrives at Juan II s Court at about the age of
fifteen where he becomes Juan II s and later Enrique IV s doncel; this was around the time that Juan II
first banished Álvaro from Court in 1427. Valera later leaves and goes on to prove himself as a knight
and then returns to Juan II s court in the midst of Álvaro s political strife. In his Tratado en defensa de

This author was a major player in the movement to re envision knighthood. In his Espejo de verdadera
nobleza (c. 1441), Valera criticizes those who become knights to avoid the payment of taxes
(Contreras 35). This emphasis on tax payments is important to consider, as it is precisely tax
corruption allegations against Álvaro de Luna that would play a role in his downfall (Netanyahu 353).
To be sure, Valera demonstrates the importance of a learned knight. Of the three writers, he stands out
by relaying the importance of defining true nobility in a most direct manner. In the process, Valera
emphasizes the importance of Christian, specifically Catholic, values while he makes an argument
against the statement by Seneca that defamers used which claims that good women exist. Valera
quotes the statement as follows Asy commo no ay cosa soberana a la buena muger, asy no ay cosa más

Examples Of Courage In The Hobbit

Expanding Courage All we have to decide is what we do with the time that is given to us. There are
other forces at work in this world, besides the will of evil (Tolkien 304). Growth and courage are both
vital actions in life. One cannot hope to live and thrive without growing both internally and externally,
and having the courage to stand up for what one s beliefs. Courage is directly affected by growth, for
without growth, one will never obtain the courage to move on and push forward when times get tough
in life. Stepping out of one s comfort zone takes immense growth and no small amount of courage, but
can prove to be a pivotal moment within climactic events. In his epic tale ... Show more content on

Throughout the first chapters of The Hobbit, Bilbo is portrayed in this manner, but Tolkien brilliantly
changes Bilbo little by little to symbolize the importance of growing, maturing, and finding courage to
stand up for what is right. Another great example for the need of growth and courage that Tolkien
highlights in the early parts of his work The Hobbit, is showing how obsessed Bilbo Baggins is with
his possessions. Tell me Bilbo, when did doilies and your mother s dishes become so important to
you? The world is not in your books and maps. It s out there (Tolkien 17). Through this quote, Tolkien
shows how self centered people become so involved with themselves, they start to care too much for
the things that matter least. Bilbo for example, has no interest in his approaching journey, rather he is
fussing over his dishes and cloths, casting away the needs of others and the outside world. Much like
Tolkien s famous character, so many people are worried about just themselves. They have no interest
in the outside would and their growth stops and courage hinders. A person can be very well off but if
they are so wrapped up with their own affairs, and do not experience the world they cannot grow and
mature. Without growing and maturing, real world issues aren t addressed and communication
becomes surreal. No one knows how to address these issues and that just creates more anarchy. Real
world experience is key to growth. Growth is key to

Episthropology, And Epistemology
Research Philosophies
There are two main subdivisions of research philosophies; ontological and epistemological research
philosophies. Ontology involves using a nature perspective to establish how things work. On the other
hand, epistemology involves assessing the interaction between the knowledge of the inquirer and the
research (Saunders, Lewis, Thornhill, 2009). The nature of reality can thus be determined by
reviewing the four primary research philosophies that are based on epistemology and ontology.
The four primary research philosophies include pragmatism, realism, positivism, and interpretivism.
An ontology based on positivism assumes that social factors have no impact on the nature and
objectives of reality. According to the ontology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, researchers use information that is already available and accessible to the public. Such
information is retrieved from governmental institutions, companies, and other researchers (Kumar,

that it is cheaper than primary research. Secondly, secondary researches and their findings are readily

sometimes the research questions and the data lack coherence. This is contrary to the primary research

also has a high degree or error propagation. Errors that were incurred in the initial research are

Descriptive Essay Flowers
Whenever I see flowers growing on the ground outside I always think of one of my favorite lines from
one of my favorite stories that says There are flowers in your brain, You hurt them when you re mean
to yourself. When you re nice to yourself, you give the flowers water and sunshine.Be nice to your
flowers, don t step on them. I love this quote because even though the story is about a girl who has an
abusive uncle, kills him in self defense, forgets everything and is basically a child, and then somehow
made it to New York to visit a girl she hasn t seen since high school, I believe that this line is an
extremely important thing for everyone to take to heart and do. The story also shows that even though
Mila treated Lo horribly in high school and basically ruined all of Lo s high school life the girls still
let Mila stay with them when she just randomly showed up at the apartment asking for a bed. Also one
of the main characters really reminds me of one of my best friends, sweet, childlike, and innocent.
When they opened the old burgundy colored front door of their apartment, there standing in the dimly
lit, olive green, the wallpapered hallway was a girl about their age, maybe around 19, with long
flowing wavy brown hair that went down to her waist. The girl was looking down at the dirty tan
carpeted floor of the hallway, tracing one of the diamond patterns on the ground with the toe of her
dirt covered, white, Converse. Her hands seemed to be folded behind her back as she was rocking
back and forth tracing the diamond pattern on the cheap carpet. Then the brunette suddenly stopped,
seeming to sense that the door had been opened, and looked up. The stranger was wearing a sunflower
yellow hoodie that was at least a two sizes too big for her, the hem of it hitting her about mid thigh,
and a pair of close cut light wash skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees. Her eyes were the color
of hot chocolate made with milk, and they were open wide making her look innocent and almost
childlike. The only makeup she appeared to be wearing was a little bit of mascara and clear lipgloss.
She studied me in silence for a moment then gave me a wide, toothy smile then proceeded to reveal
that she was actually holding

The Land of New Zealand has shaped its people, as the people have struggled to shape the land. The
nation s two main cultures Maori and Pakeha are as distinct as the forested mountains are from the

In all the cultures of the Pacific region, that of the Maori stands out in its rich stock of plays, dances in

and in this century there has been a conscious effort to preserve or revive the traditional skills of

  • 2. Capitalism In Death Of A Salesman The American Death: An Analysis of Death of a Salesman After World War II, The U.S. entered into a time known as the Golden Age of Capitalism. A major ideology that developed during this time was the American Dream. According to Merriam Webster, the American Dream is a happy way of living... that can be achieved by anyone... by working hard and becoming successful. Arthur Miller s play Death of a Salesman critiques this ideology through the outcome of Willy s life and in light of Karl Marx s ideas in Alienation. One way Miller critiques the American Dream is through Marx s idea of proprietors and propertyless. Marx states in Alienated Labor that the whole society is divided into two classes of proprietors and propertyless (171). Throughout the story, the audience learns Willy is part of the propertyless. This is demonstrated when Willy and Linda have a conversation about the refrigerator. Linda mentions how they are close to paying it off, but Willy replies that it just broke again (73). In light of Marx, since Willy is not able to own his refrigerator, he is part of the propertyless. On the other hand, Howard, Willy s boss, is a proprietor. The way Howard achieves this job is through inheritance. At one point in the story, Willy asks Howard if he can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This dream is dangerous because it causes a loss of one s identity and endless work towards an unreachable goal. If people continue to believe this dream is possible, then the proprietor will continue to exploit them. In the end, all the worker has to show for their work is their death. When they die, this process will just continue with another worker. The workers may believe that they are assets to the company, but in reality, they replaceable. While the American Dream may seem like a fantasy, it is ultimately an endless cycle of the exploitation that can never be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Servant Leadership Characteristics Of A Servant Leader In the broadest sense, a servant leader is one who leads others with the mindset of a servant. The primary motivation of a servant leader is to provide encouragement and facilitation in others by treating them as an ends in themselves rather than as a means to an ends. A servant leader values the people he or she leads by sharing power and enabling others to develop and flourish (Waterman, 2011). Waterman s (2011) study found the following: The expression of servant leadership characteristics in service to others is putting other people first. Every leader should have a servant s heart, show care and concern for others and be mentor minded, that is, have the desire and concern to build and develop others, even at his or her own expense. (p. 25) While there are many characteristics that are central to the development of a servant leader, the three that stand out are respectfulness, selflessness, and commitment. Respectfulness is defined as treating others as important people because they are important (Hunter, 1998, p. 112). Every person has value and deserves respect. The servant leader can set the level of respect within the organization. Showing the same amount of respect to an assistant as you would an executive provides motivation and encouragement, therefore yielding a higher level of performance (Hunter, 1998). Selflessness is defined as meeting the needs of others even before your own (Hunter, 1998, p. 116). Being selfless is necessary to serve others and lead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Accident Report Involving Human Errors NTSB Accident Report Involving Human Errors Abstract The American Airlines Flight 1420 fatal accident is reported as a runway overrun accident. The NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) investigated the accident on what would result in the accident. This work s basic objective is to put emphasis on the human aspects that resulted in the accident by applying the Human Factor Analysis and Classification System (HFCAS). It also incorporates the Swiss Chess approach to link the series of events that eventually became the set of events that triggered the accident. NTSB applied the HFCAS in the analysis of the human factors in the flight, and it was enlightening to see that it proved on how the fatal even occurred. The HFACS synergized with the Swiss Chess illustrates the manner in which one occurrence resonates to the other. Also, the model revealed that the resources and regulations of the company after inadequate monitoring, combined with the prevalent weather conditions and fatigued flight crew instigated unsafe actions. This includes wrong judgment and errors that took place before and during the landing of the airplane. Introduction The American Airlines Flight 1420 was on its way to Little Rock National Airport on the 1st June 1999. The pilot of the airplane was regarded as an experienced one. NTSB (2001) reports that the aircraft used in the flight is a McDonnell Douglas DC 9 82 (MD 82). The flight was scheduled to touchdown at 11:50 P.M. and had an on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The direction of the company must adapt in order to continue on the stated path of growing as big as possible, as fast as possible. HubSpot is facing two problems that it must address in order to accomplish its goals. First, HubSpot has a corporate culture centered on an evangelical attitude towards inbound marketing. While not going so far as to begin cold calling for new clients, HubSpot could develop a targeted outbound marketing campaign in environments such as industry trade shows that may open up the company to potential customers who may have yet to hear of HubSpot, try their services or contact them about service subscription. If done properly, HubSpot could use an outbound marketing strategy for its inbound and outbound services while still staying true to its roots. Alternatives for pricing The pricing structure has the potential to evolve in a number of different ways. HubSpot could go begin selling subscriptions for longer intervals beyond month to month to lock in customers for longer periods of times. This could be particularly beneficial for keeping the Owner Ollies from canceling services immediately after receiving the majority of the added value. HubSpot could also begin charging B2B and B2C customers differently as well. B2B customers derive greater value and could be charged an added premium or conversely B2C customers could be given an added discount of services if combined with a longer subscription purchase. Hubspot could also increase its initial fee of $500 for Owner Ollies who reap the majority of the benefits upfront and who don t require as much customer service. A discount to this increase could be coupled with participation with the CMS service, thus increasing the chance the customer stays with HubSpot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Political Influence of Women Women Exert Significant Political Influence Women have never been able to exert any significant political influence: discuss with reference to any one period of History that you have studied. Throughout history women are often seen as subservient to men. This has led to the belief that they do not have any kind of significant political influence. Based upon historical information, it is clear that these views are simply untrue. This is because women have made a noteworthy contribution at certain periods in time. A good example of this can be seen by looking no further than Catherine the Great of Russia. She ruled the country from 1762 to 1796. During this time, she was able to introduce major transformations that helped to modernize the nation. A few of the most notable include: improvements in arts / culture, education, foreign affairs and banking / finance. The combination of these factors changed the country and allowed it to become a world power. (Alexander 1995) (Del Testa 2001) (Hyland 2003) (Streeter 2007) In the area of arts / culture, she encouraged many people to be creative and share their ideas (based upon Western influences). This led to a Renaissance in literature, music and sculpting and painting. At the same time, she created different museums and academies that supported these views. Furthermore, in this tensioned situation it seems like there is process conflict between two of the nurses. However, in the past decades, a disturbing trend has surfaced children, both boys and girls, are increasingly taking up arms. While this is not an entirely new attribute of warfare, the use of child soldiers in history has been an exception and not a regular feature as it appears to be today. According to international law, a child soldier is defined as any individual who is aged below eighteen and part of an armed organization. A conservative estimate of the number of child combatants stands at 300,000 and this excludes the other half a million children who perform non combat duties in the army. Approximately 75 percent of armed conflict in the world involves children fighters. The worrying situation is best expressed by Peter W. Singer: Children, as young as 6 and 7 years old, are serving as combatants on every continent but Antarctica. • 17. The Importance Of The Age Of Discovery Portugal is known for initiating the Age of Discovery. They played an important role in exploration. Many new lands were discovered, boosting trade, power, and wealth, during the Age of Discovery. Early exploration began in the late 1300s and early 1400s under Prince Henry, aka the Navigator. One key factor that led to Portugal s power was Ceuta, a major port city in north Africa, that controlled ships entering and exiting the Mediterranean Sea. King John I, Henry s father, conquered the city after being encouraged by Henry. On an early morning on August 21, 1415, King John I, along with his sons, led an army to Playa San Amaro, a beach in Ceuta. They sieged the garrison and took the Ceuta by nightfall. They went on taking four more islands off the northwest coast of Africa, in which they explored and colonized. In 1431, the Azores were discovered and colonized. In 1443, the Bay of Arguin was colonized, and later, the Portuguese constructed a fort. By 1462, the Portuguese had explored the coast of Africa as far as present day Sierra Leone These colonies produced extozic trade goods, such as wine, spices, ivory, gold, and herbs, making the Portigal not only wealthy but also powerful. In 1498, the Cape of Good Hope was discovered, but Henry never lived to see this great discovery. He died at the age of 66 in 1460. His legacy lived on. Canada s Initial Reception Of Chinese Immigrants Chapter Four: Canada s Initial Reception of Chinese Immigrants Contrary to the United States initial warm welcome to Chinese immigrants, Canada began their era of peak Chinese immigration with hostility. One large factor in why this occurred can be found in the time frame of peak Chinese immigration to Canada which was after the United States enacted their Chinese Exclusion Act (1882) which effectively prevented almost all new Chinese immigrants from entering the US for the following decade. Because of that newfound barrier, Chinese that still wanted to come to North America to take advantage of economic opportunities found themselves purchasing tickets to British Columbia, Canada. However, sentiments towards Chinese in 1880s western Canada were analogous to those present in the United States; those which led to the enactment of America s Chinese Exclusion Act. As Chinese populations in California continued to grow, Americans found that the Chinese began making economic conditions less than ideal for white laborers which later started social uproar in the latter half of the 19th century. Because Canada is directly adjacent to the United States, Canadians witnessed the economic woes of native born laborers along the west coast. As a result, they became increasingly wary of Chinese currently in or the increasing number now entering Canada. Between January 1881 and October 1884, approximately 17,00 Chinese entered Canada. In Snakes , Danielle Evans carefully chooses the characterization of her characters to give the reader an insight into the racial division that has been pervasive in America. If a starving python was living in our lake, wouldn t all other animals be dead by now? (Evans 45). Although Ibsen abandoned the concept that the play was about gender roles (Urban, 1997), the central question is beyond the original context within which the plays were produced and received. Throughout the first chapters of The Hobbit, Bilbo is portrayed in this manner, but Tolkien brilliantly changes Bilbo little by little to symbolize the importance of growing, maturing, and finding courage to stand up for what is right. Another great example for the need of growth and courage that Tolkien highlights in the early parts of his work The Hobbit, is showing how obsessed Bilbo Baggins is with his possessions. Tell me Bilbo, when did doilies and your mother s dishes become so important to you? The world is not in your books and maps. It s out there (Tolkien 17). Through this quote, Tolkien shows how self centered people become so involved with themselves, they start to care too much for the things that matter least. Bilbo for example, has no interest in his approaching journey, rather he is fussing over his dishes and cloths, casting away the needs of others and the outside world. Much like Tolkien s famous character, so many people are worried about just themselves. They have no interest in the outside would and their growth stops and courage hinders. A person can be very well off but if they are so wrapped up with their own affairs, and do not experience the world they cannot grow and mature.
