Jyske Bank Case
Question 1: What is Jyske Bank s new positioning or competitive differentiation strategy?
Ans:
The Jyske Group is Danish bank that is owned and operated as a business. The company attaches
great importance to treating their three groups of stakeholders shareholders, customers and
employees with equal respect. If the balance shifts in favor of one or two of the groups, this will
be to the long term detriment of all groups (Zeithmal, Bitner and Gremler 1996).
The bank s core values are its fundamental cornerstone. In the eyes of both clients and employees,
the following traits are what make Jyske bank unique:
Common sense Open and honest Different and unpretentious Genuine interest and equal respect ...

Intangible Differences
Delivering on the bank s new competitive positioning also required changes to the intangible
aspects which are not visible to customer.
Before any branch was redesigned, all staff took part in special training sessions such as
teambuilding and customer service sessions, drawing on best customer practices from the retail
sector.
Jyske management strongly believed that value is created through decisions and encouraged
empowerment of not only employees but also of the whole branch, with the managers to set the
example through their leadership and management style.
Additionally, with documentation, training and legal documents all centralized at the bank s
headquarters it allowed human resources to be more active in dealing with human issues and
even enabled them to outsource their problem solving skills as HR professionals in the field (at a
regional level) for a fee. This service was at the cost of the bank branch if they needed it, but was
not compulsory.
Question3: Analyze Jyske bank s success using the service quality gaps model found in Chapter 2.
What are Jyske Bank s strategies for closing the 5 gaps in the model?

Ed Kennedy s Response To The Messenger
Ed is the only person in the novel we can admire. Discuss.
The Messenger shows that by behaving in an altruistic way, our admiration towards a person
grows. Throughout the novel many different altruistic acts have been achieved by the
protagonist, Ed Kennedy. By the end of the book we have developed a level of respect and
admiration for him as he managed to transform himself and others around him. Markus Zusak was
sending Ed messages to get him to behave in that manner but he was also sending a message to the
reader to also start behaving that way. All these can relate back to the altruistic tasks that have been
achieved and how they influenced Ed s life and can easily influence ours.
At the start of the novel we see Ed, a 19 year old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He handled topics such as poverty, domestic violence, loneliness and fear of love. This is taking
the young adult audience to a very serious place and making them consider very adult problems.
We see Ed having to handle a rape case , an old lady that made him think how a human could be so
lonely and a young family that didn t have much but were beautiful [...] in what they are . Whilst
doing this Zusak has also kept the underlying elements of surprise and mystery present throughout
the novel.
By integrating these two ideas, The Messenger is providing useful guidance to how the younger
generation should act and behave. As Zusak appears very omniscient in his role as the messenger,
he has used this role to his advantage and it appears as though he is not only telling Ed to live
beyond what [he is] capable of , but also telling the

Representation In The American Colonies
All throughout of the history of mankind, the notion of sovereignty was linked to right of
succession through a religious belief that God rules mankind and therefore has the rightful authority
to appoint a king who then, in turn, serves as legitimate authority until his successor is appointed.
The role of the church in legitimating and prolonging the rule of royalty was critical, and through
the combination of kings and priests, the subjects such governments were convinced that the king
was the depository of legitimate power and legal authority and the king, therefore, could do no
wrong. Because of the king s arrogance and alleged superiority, the American colonies declared
their independence against Britain on July 4th, 1776. Three of their... Show more content on

During the time of crisis, if you lived in England, you paid more in taxes than any American
colonist. The proceeds from the colonies taxation were used to supplement England s defense,
which would have been a good reason, but at that point, the French threat was gone. The funds
received from American colonists barely covered one third of the cost of maintaining British troops
in the thirteen colonies, but the colonists felt the troops were only there to watch them since the
threats from the French were long gone. To the colonists, the further taxation was offensive. They
had cleared acres of land, fought off Native Americans, and watched as their relatives die in the
process of building a colony that enhanced the British Empire. For hundreds of years in British
history, Parliament followed the tradition of receiving permission for levying taxes. Even though
the king had these divine rights and so forth, when the British Parliament taxed the colonists
without their consent, the colonists traditional rights were

Hilton International Initiatives
Several international and domestic hospitality companies have made an increasing effort to
implement green initiatives into their business operations. Many of these hotel brands have had
great success and have been recognized for their sustainability strategies. One international brand
that continues to receive high praise for guest satisfaction while implementing eco friendly
initiatives is Hilton Worldwide.
Hilton Worldwide is one of the largest global hospitality companies today, consisting of more than
4,500 hotels in 97 countries. Hilton s history dates back nearly 100 years, and they continue to be
one of the fastest growing companies in the hospitality industry. Part of the reason Hilton

responsibility. Hilton Worldwide takes a comprehensive approach to sustainability; their strategy is
to reduce their impact on the environment while considering all business aspects. They aim to be
environmentally sustainable without sacrificing quality and comfort. Hilton s key initiatives

Porter s 5 Forces on Airline Industry
The budget airline industry in Singapore presents an interesting situation for analysis. It has 3
main local players plus a foreign player, namely Valueair, Tiger Airways, Jetstar Asia Airway and
Airasia but Jetstar Asia Airways has effectively merged with Valueair. There are also possibilities
of more foreign budget airlines operating in Singapore, and big airlines may also slash their prices
to compete with the budget airlines. The higher fuel price, terrorist threat and restrictive govt
policies regarding open air travel right are some of the challenges in this industry. Use Porter s five
forces model to critically analyse the budget airlineindustry. (100 marks)... Show more content on

Such supplier power will be less should they choose not to buy their planes from Boeing and
Airbus and go on to purchase second hand aircrafts from elsewhere instead.
5. Bargaining power of buyers
The power of buyer is moderately high because the access to the internet allows customers to
have close to full information on prices charged by the LCCs. Price sensitive customers and first
time fliers tend to go for the В‘most value for money deals and thus it s more of a В‘win win
situation for the consumers as the respective LCCs slash their prices now and then to gain a
temporary advantage.
Conclusion
As the competition intensifies, it would be ideal for LCCs to not only concentrate on cost cutting
measures but to pay attention to key aspects like branding to attain a decent market share. Airasia
is a fine example where they have gone on to promote themselves on the global frontier by being
the sponsor for В‘Amazing Race Asia . They have also extended their sponsorship deal with
Manchester United football club to jointly promote the tourism industry in Malaysia.
Within the organizational structure of the LCCs, certain improvements can be made. The LCC
should move towards a flexible structure that enables streamlined communication and knowledge
transfer between all levels.
Also though expanding flying destinations routes to countries like India and Hongkong seem
favourable, LCCs should В‘think

The Bay Of Pigs Case Study
The Bay of Pigs The plan Kennedy had was to overthrow Fidel Castro of the Cuban government,
but the plan went horribly wrong. Now that it has happened, and we know what went wrong I
will tell you some things that could have helped it go right. First off, I think that having someone
on the ground planning were to drop the bombs would have prevent the deaths of the seven
innocent civilians killed in the bombing. If it was mapped out they wouldn t have died, and the
plan would have been more successful. Another thing Kennedy could have done was had it
planned on a different day because the invaders had to go through bad weather and work with
soggy equipment. This would have helped them be more prepared for the mission. These are only a

The Role Of Robots
I imagine my future with robots, advanced phone, flying cars and much more. A lot of people
think that robots will take over the world and take people s job, etc. Robots are being use to go
to war and taking people s jobs. Robots are operating environment, the relatively high initial cost
of robots means that they tend to be only used by large companies or in defence. It is unlikely
that all the humans will be replaced by robots in any task, it is much more likely that fewer
people will be needed because for many years robots will be assistants. Robots are usually
thought of as being mobile but they don t have to be. For example, washing machines,
dishwashers, and tumble driers can also be thought of as robots. The future is most likely to be
one of productivity gains. They are trying to put brains and several sensors and actuators in
robots. The technology has been available for many years. The advances happening in
technology and it s becoming that evident that computers, machines, robots, and other things are
going to be able to do most of the routine, and repetitive types of jobs. A lot of skills levels fall
into that category. People with college degrees, even professional degrees, also lawyers are doing
things that ultimately are predictable. A lot of those jobs are going to be susceptible over time.
Right now there s still a lot of debate over it. There are economists who think it s totally wrong,
that problems really stem from things like globalization or the fact

Essay on Noah and the Ark
Noah and the Ark
The story of Noah and the ark is probably one of the most read stories of the bible. Perhaps it is
because of the great tragedy it portrays, or because it is a story of salvation. Noah and his family
along with the animals were saved from the flood, while the other people and animals perished as
a result of it. Growing up the story of Noah and the ark was one of my favorites; Quite simply
because of the drawings depicting the story. They appeared so beautiful, when after many years I
m realizing the whole of the story. The story of the destruction of mankind, and the story of
regrowth. I chose this topic because I realized how little I really do know about Noah and the ark. I

God decided to wipe out mankind with a flood. In order to help repopulate the earth after the flood
was over, God called upon Noah. God told Noah to build himself an ark out of cypress wood,
with room inside. He told Noah to cover the ark, both inside and out with pitch to protect it from
the waters. God instructed Noah as to the size of the ark, and what it was to look like. The ark is
to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. Make a roof for it and finish the ark within 18
inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle, and upper decks.
(Genesis 6: 15 16) God also told Noah about the plan for the flood, and what he was to do with
the ark. Noah, his wife, his sons, and his sons wives would all be on the ark an spared from the
destruction the flood would cause. Along with his family, God wanted Noah to bring two of all
living creatures, one male, and one female. Brining a male and a female of each kind of creature
would allow them to reproduce and repopulate their species. The last thing God commanded
Noah to do was to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and stored for his family and the
creatures. Noah and his family entered the ark as God had commanded. After seven days, the
waters of the flood were over the earth. All the wellsprings of the great deep burst and the
casements of the heavens were opened. (Genesis pg 32) It rained for forty

Reflection Paper On Nutrition
Nutrition can be part of a major role of improving your overall body composition and health. I
decided to write about the topic nutrition because, we were assigned to track our eating habits on
Super Tracker for seven days. They set up for you, the recommended portion size, based on your
height, age and weight. Super Tracker taught me a valuable lesson about keeping portion sizes
in mind, and checking labels because just because the label says it has fiber or something, it
doesn t necessary mean it does; it can have more added sugars than fibers. Now, I know how
much calories I should take in everyday and what I need to improve on because I had lot of
nutrients, mineral and vitamins that was under the recommend amount that I needed. With this
Super Tracker website, it made me realize that I need to eat healthier, because I am at risk of
having lots of health problems in the future, if I continue to eat the way I do. Looking at my
report really made me realize that maybe because I was so low/over on mostly everything, that
therefore it is the cause of my daily headaches and why I feel weak and dizzy mostly every day
of the week. The report indicated that I was over on saturated fats, under my calorie intake, low
on dairy and fruit intake and many more. As I was doing my research, eating more fruits will
improve my sources of nutrients, including potassium, fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C and folate.
The nutrients in fruit are vital for health and maintenance for my body. The potassium in fruit
can reduce my risk of heart disease and stroke. Also, according to my dietary report, I am over
with my saturated fats, as I stated above. Eating too much total fat (especially saturated fat and
trans fat), cholesterol, or sodium may increase my risk of certain chronic diseases, such as heart
disease, some cancers, or high blood pressure. Therefore, because of how badly my report came
out, it was an eye opener. I want to find ways on how to improve my nutritionand maintain it and
what the better outcomes are for maintaining good nutrition. In order to improve my nutrition, I
will need to change my diet by taking small steps every day. My dietary nutrition report stated that
I am over my added sugars, so to decrease my

Pyramid Schemes
Scams are happening all around us, and we often don t even notice them. Pyramid schemes are
very harmful towards investors, and are hard to watch out for unless you know exactly what they
are, why they fail, the effect of the failure, common victims, how to avoid them, and how to prevent
them from spreading. More individuals are hurt than are helped when dealing with these scams.
Individuals should be more informed about pyramid schemes, because they can be easily disguised.
Participating in scams, will more than likely lead to a loss in money. A pyramid scheme is a get

These schemes can also hurt the economy because of the loans taken out to pay off for the starter
kits needed to recruit new members. If the scheme collapses, individuals could fall into poverty
and lose their possessions. Relationships could also be broken if people start recruiting friends and
/or spouses into the scheme. Pyramid schemes have caused divorces and suicides because of the
broken trust between the bonds.
Select victims are usually chosen for pyramid schemes. Individuals with certain types of
personalities are more likely to get drawn into a scheme. One common target for scammers, says
Swierczynski, is the easygoing people pleaser . It s the kind of person who would rather buy an
entire new sump pump system than insult a stranger (Hobson). In this case, it pays not to be so
friendly and to stand up for yourself by saying no (Hobson). Con artists are good at figuring out
what pushes an individual off the edge, and they use that against him/her. Individuals, who are
lonely, vulnerable, or desperate, make scamming more accessible. People in dire straits are also
very vulnerable to scams (Hobson). Those who are vulnerable might have recently had a tragic
death in the family or are in uncontrollable debt (Hobson). Leaders of these schemes also look for
people who wear their heart and brain on their sleeve (Hobson). Individuals who talk about what s
going on in their lives with people they don t know

Kenyan Real Estate Bubble
Is there a real estate bubble in Kenya?
Recently in the Standard Edition, a report by the Central Bank and World Bank said that only eight
per cent of Kenyans 320, 000 households can afford a mortgage and that nine out of ten Kenyans
cannot afford to buy the houses they live in, even with a mortgage loan in tow. The report also
indicated that for one to buy a house worth Sh2 million, for example, one must have a net salary
of Sh100,000 and service the loan at Sh42,000 a month for a period of 15 years at an interest rate
of 14.5 per cent. This came as shock since, although the total mortgage loan book in the country is

The increasing real estate growth has mainly been driven by a strong economy, urbanization and
growing middle class. The stabilizing legal environment, considerable credit expansion and
increased spending on infrastructure by government have also contributed to the growth.
Nevertheless, the market faced difficulties in 2011 due to high cost of land, high inflation, a weak
shilling, ,and cases of fraud which led to loss of purchased land to various individuals. The high
inflation last year caused precipitous import prices. Consequently, the shilling weakened, falling to
a historic low of 107 to the dollar in October. Therefore, the cost of construction materials rose by
about 40% and forced property developers to spend more on projects. This hurt the property
market and has prompted commercial banks to cut lending, fearing a slowdown in the uptake of
properties especially in the up market segment. Below are a few charts and graphs on prices for
property for sale and average rent, courtesy of HassConsult . The Hass Composite sales Index is

Disillusionment with Entering Adulthood in Angelina...
The play Rachel, by Angelina GrimkГ©, reveals the harsh realities of life for an African American
family living in the United States during the early part of the 20th century. Focused on the central
character Rachel Loving, the play reflects each character s reaction to racial prejudice against
African Americans. The themes of motherhood and the innocence of youth are vital pieces of the
issues GrimkГ© wished to portray in her work. The development of Rachel herself revolves around
her changing perception of what the role of motherhood might be. This insight stems from her
understanding of the importance of childlike innocence towards the terrible truths of the world in
which we are surrounded by. Through the use of poignant dialogue and... Show more content on

I ll never get anything else (50). From this statement one can see that Rachel in a way has
convinced herself that housework is an aspiration of hers. She makes it seem as if her situation
is not as bad as it really is. Rachel is an educated woman, who deserves to have a substantial job,
not being confined to a house on a daily basis. Rachel continues by stating, We live. According to
your philosophy, I suppose, make the best of it it might be worse (51). Once again, Rachel is
convincing herself that a very obvious issue is not as pressing as it actually is. GrimkГ© could
have easily created a simplistic character that lacks depth and vigor, but instead created an
individual that grapples with deep psychological trauma and spans farther than what meets the
eye. Another example of Rachel s obsession with youth is her love for being surrounded by
children and her intense desire to be a mother. This observation is first present on page 5 when
Mrs. Loving says to Rachel, You re not happy unless some child is trailing along in your rear (5).
This statement allows readers to see Rachel s infatuation with children. Another example of this is
when Rachel states, I think the loveliest thing of all the lovely things in this world is just (almost

me that said that it was God! (Pauses). And Ma dear, if I believed that I should grow

20 Ways to Motivate Staff
20 ways to motivate your employees without raising their pay By: Dave Worman, Dr. Motivation
It is a costly mistake to get lost in the false theory that more money equals happy employees.
Believing this is costing you valuable time, revenue, employees...and even threatening your own
job. Cash will always be a major factor in motivating people and a solid compensation plan is
critical to attracting and keeping key personnel. But the key is that additional cash is not always
the only answer and in many cases not even the best answer. Too many bonus or commission
checks get cashed, spent and forgotten just that quickly. Grocery stores and gasoline stations are

Set career paths within your organization. Do you promote from within? I hope you can answer
yes to that. Although specific circumstances require you to look for talent outside your company
you should always first consider internal personnel. If you do this you are sending a very
positive message to every one that there are indeed further career opportunities within your
organization. 6. Job Titles. When you talk about job titles you are tapping the self esteem of
people. How someone feels about the way they are perceived in the workforce is a critical
component to overall attitude and morale. Picture a social gathering that includes some of your
staff. The subject of work inevitably comes up. Will your people be proud, or embarrassed, to
share their title and workplace? The importance of feeling proud of who you are and what you do is
monumental. Be creative as you think of possibilities for titles. Have your staff come up with ideas
giving them input into the titles. Bottom line, you are dealing with pride...and pride enhances a
positive attitude...and a positive attitude is the foundation for continuing success. 7. Good Work
Environment. A recent industry study shows just how inaccurate your results can be. Employers
were asked to rank what they thought motivated their people and then employees were asked to
rank what really did motivate them. Employers felt

Ang Lee s Brokeback Mountain and Cormac McCarthy s Blood Meridian both challenge the
traditional societal views of masculinity in the Western genre. Brokeback Mountain depicts two
cowboys involved in a homosexual relationship, focusing on coupling the opposing themes of
homosexuality and masculinity. On the other hand, Blood Meridian introduces the reader to the

The constant struggle between the two characters to be together is heartbreaking and Jack s death
is purposely shown as a murder in order to create an emotional response from the audience.
Roughton (2014, p. 89) highlights that Jack s death being foreshadowed by Ennis witnessing the
result of a bashing of a gay man as a child, links violence and punishment to homosexuality and
sinning. Arguably, the biggest contester to homosexuality is the potential for sin. However, by
introducing the audience to two characters whom they grow attached to and want to see happy,
then demonstrating the consequences of their love in our current society, sparks a reaction from the
audience that causes them to question why these traditional masculine values exist in our society.
Hence, although Brokeback Mountain combines masculine icons with homosexuality to question
traditional masculinity associated with the Western, it also demonstrates the consequences of
challenging such values in our current society in order to highlight to the audience how devastating

societies. While some colonists led hard lives, others were healthy and prosperous. The two
groups who showed these differences were the colonists of the New England and Chesapeake

Adulterers were marked as impure by a letter A stitched on their clothing, as in the book The
Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. As religion was a very high priority in New England, it
was very much less severe in the Chesapeake Bay region. The one established church in the
region, the Anglican Church of Jesus Christ, was only then established in 1692, more than 70
years after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. Most people didn t even go to church
regularly or participate in the Anglican Church. The differences in the two regions are not only
seen in their religion, but can also be found in their economies. The economy of New England
was far more inferior to that of the Chesapeake economy. This was because the New England
society was family oriented and primarily owned only small family farms just large enough to
feed their families. Their economy was mainly based on small farming and fishing. This shows
that New England was not focusing on economic growth and expansion. The Chesapeake Bay, on
the other hand, had a vast economy. The population of Chesapeake Bay outnumbered New
England s population nearly three to one. Their economy was mainly based on the tobacco and
slave trading industries. These businesses contributed greatly to the Chesapeake Bay s economic
and colonial expansion. This explains why people who came to the New World looking to make
money chose to go to Chesapeake Bay rather than the New England area. Colonists

Leadership Within The Work Force
LEADERSHIP WITHIN THE WORK FORCE
Leadership is a technique to bring different individuals together to form a team by maximizing their
potential in order to accomplish a common goal. By knowing and understanding the various
theories of organizational leadership can aid individuals in expanding and developing their abilities
within leadership. Furthermore, leaders practice different leadership styles and theories contingent
upon the circumstances and necessities required to successfully achieve objectives. As an example,
some leaders may use the transformational theory as a method to maintain communication among
workers to motivate them to get the job done. Leaders apply transactional theory as a way to
provide rewards or punishment according to performance to motivate followers (Voon, Lo, Ngui
Ayob, 2011). The future of an organization rest on its leadership s capability to lead and it is
important that leaders use each theory for organizational leadership depending on the current
condition to efficiently inspire and foster individuals to achieve each goal that is set before them.

The Stages Of An Unreflective Thinker
Critical thinking is being able to evaluate an issue or situation to form a judgment. Having the
ability to think clearly and rationally, being able to have an argument and understand the main
concept and question any doubts you have and making your own conclusion. Being a good
critical thinker can help you in a lot of ways professionally and personally. Employers often want
to see someone that can think rationally and that is able to make their business grow and develop
they want someone that will take initiative in crucial situations. In our personal lives, it is
important so we learn how to distinguish the main facts about an argument and learn to analyze
the problem and make a conclusion of what needs to be done to help solve and prevent any future
problems. According to Linda Elder and Richard Paul, there are six stages of a critical thinker the
unreflective thinker, the challenged thinker, the beginning thinker, the advanced thinker, and
finally the accomplished thinker which is where we would all want to be in. (The Critical
Thinking Community , 2010) Stage one the unreflective thinker is simply someone that is
unaware of what role thinking is playing in their lives. I think we are all born as an unreflective
thinker and some people don t know the useful conception of what thinking really is and they don t
develop better thinking skills and end up dying the same way. Being an unreflective thinker means
that you know you have a problem but don t take the time or don t

A Brief Look at Modernism
Modernism was a prevalent movement and developed an era in the twentieth century that shaped
the coming decades and Western ideas. Stemming from World War I, its culture, art and philosophy
reveals the mindset of modernity and how the historical events of that time influenced life and
society. T.S. Eliot was a part of the literary and artistic movement called Modernism, which can be
seen best in his poem The Waste Land. The concept of the wasteland was a powerful one to his
generation. His poem depicts an image of the modern world through the perspective of the
common man finding himself hopeless and confused about the condition of society. The poem
paints a picture of a disjointed and desolate world through apparent confusion and chaos that that
is achieved through fragments and allusions. The Waste Land demonstrates the present day
wasteland as a metaphor of modern Europe to depict the loss of culture and history that was
suffered due to the war. Arguably, the most important aspect of the poem is its fragmented nature
used to depict a post World War I wasteland. Rather than using facts to show the state of Europe,
Eliot uses several poetic elements to convey this, particularly the allusive and obscure to paint an
image of physical desolation of the war torn society and also communicate a sense of loss and
despair. The image of London, in the first section The Burial Dead, gives a sense of the trauma and
cultural desolation caused by the war. The narrator,

The Unemployment Rate Of Unemployment Essay
The economy from the beginning of January this year has been stabilized, stats show we have
added one hundred fifty thousand jobs in January. In February, America added another two hundred
forty thousand jobs, being beyond people s expectations believing it would have only been 190,000
jobs. This situation calmed everyone about the economys health making the unemployment rate of
4.9, till now the unemployment rate has remained the same. Many professionals in economics
believe that an unemployment rate of 4.9% is full employment. As of today we are stabled and
doing well, companies have been hiring more people, the minimum wagerose a dollar to ten dollars
which means people will spend more, also the gas is not that costly, car sales are doing better, and
even the government deficit is decreasing. The economy is in better shape than most people
believe. Incomes have been higher, unemployment has dropped, and industrial production has been
up there.
With an unemployment rate of 4.9% we are basically at full employment and 2.5% of those
employed being college students who have graduated. Also labor markets are thinking to increase
the hourly earnings. Total payroll employment is higher than the six hundred thousand in the last
three months, and the ratio of employment to population, which has been low for several years, has
been much better. Michael Montgomery an economist shares that with the 4.9 percent, employers
have to compete harder to attain their workers, which means

how to give up... [All members of the rez] are defeated... But not you. You won t give up. (Alexie,

Comparing The Work Of Sigmund Freud And A Neo Analytical...
Contrasting Personality Theories:
Analysis of Freud and Karen Horney
Yorkville University
Alanna Sampson Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the work of Sigmund Freud and a neo
analytical theorist. This paper will compare the work of Freud and Karen Horney and begins with
an introduction to the study of personality and an identification of the key elements in Freud and
Horney s theories. The paper then moves into an analysis of where Horney and Freud would find
agreement and disagreement. Finally, an analysis of improvements from Freud to neo analytical
theory will be discussed.
Introduction
Personality is a concept that will continue to studied and improved upon. Theories of Sigmund
Freud, Carl G. Jung, Alfred Adler, Karen Horney, Anna Freud, and Heinz Hartmann and several
others have contributed significant ideas to the study of personality and have had impacts on our
current approaches. The purpose of this paper is to compare two sources of the motivations
concerning why people behave the way they do. Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic approach will be
discussed and compared to the approach of neo analyst Karen Horney. Karen Horney claimed that
psychoanalysis is not the only way to resolve inner conflicts and she offered a uniquely feminist
perspective for her time that disputed the Freudian theory of penis envy.
Key Points of Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory
The founder of psychoanalytic theory is Sigmund Freud.

Ancient Grecian Theatre In Ancient Greece
In the Grecian Golden Age, Greece made many advances in the sciences, philosophy, and the arts.
One of their greatest achievements was in drama. Ancient Grecian theatre was hugely important to
the Greeks. The ideas found in their plays influenced the common way of thinking. The actual
theatre structures were spaces for architects and sculptors of the time to show off their superb
talent. Modern historians studying the ruins and ancient texts of Greece frequently come across the
fingerprint that theatre left, evidence of which can still be seen today in modern Greece. One of the
most obvious displays of theatre s impact on Greece is in the magnificent ruins of ancient
structures. Most of the ruins of ancient Grecian theatres that survive to this day are from no earlier
than fourth century BC. This is because there was a transition from the usage of wood in building
theatres to using stone at that time, which allowed the structures to be much more well preserved.
Even the ruins show that an extreme amount of artistry and mathematical skill was necessary in the
construction of these ancient structures. For instance, because of the lack of amplifying technology
in ancient Greece, the theatres were constructed with the aim of natural supplementation of sound
in the way of acoustics. It is quite a feat when the people in the back row of some twenty thousand
people can hear the actors without the need of yelling and without any means of unnatural
magnification. Some examples of

Importance Of The Historical Content Of A Modest Proposal
If you ignore the historical content of A Modest Proposal you will misunderstand it. Discuss.
When A Modest Proposal was published, or to give it s full name A Modest Proposal for
preventing the children of poor people in Ireland, from being a burden on their parents or country,
and for making them beneficial to the public. England dominated the whole of Ireland. English
landlords owned much of Ireland s property, Charging ridiculous amounts for rent to poor tenants
who could barely afford to pay. England imposed extremely high taxes on Ireland and the English
laws which restricted Irish trade made it impossible for the country to ever prosper. In general, the
English had, at this time, a negative attitude towards Irish people, and Roman Catholics which most
Irish people were. This knowledge is important when reading and understanding this piece.
Without knowing a little about the political and social state at this time, it may be difficult to pick
up on Swift s use of satire. However the piece itself, even the full title does educate the reader to an
extent, talking about different social classes and focusing particularly on the poor in Ireland. This
essay purports to be neither decisive nor conclusive, but merely attempts to assess the importance
on the historical content of A Modest Proposalin order to see if it is a required element when trying
to understand the piece.
Over time, England progressively gained full authority over Ireland. In 1541 the parliament in

The Character Of Hester Prynne
Hester Prynne is the protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, a novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
She was a beautiful woman who, because of her adultery, experienced persecution and was
ostracized by everyone in her town. Her shame and guilt gave her an understanding of sin and
redemption. She serves as an example of someone who is rejected by society and, because of it,
grows in both strength and wisdom. Hester s sin overshadowed her beauty and talent, but her
humble and generous deeds gained her respect over many years.
The author established that Hester was a beautiful woman: The young woman was tall, with a
figure of perfect elegance, on large scale. She had dark and abundant hair, so glossy that it threw

First of all, she was terribly ashamed of herself. Everywhere she went, people mocked her and
told her that she was the biggest sinner of them all. Hester felt completely bound to the letter she
wore, but she learned a few things from it. She grew in wisdom and gained an understanding of
guilt; she could see the sin and hypocrisy in the community around her. She also grew in strength,
as she decided not to let her shame bring her down. Hester was very talented at sewing, and she
used that skill to make clothes and linen for the townsfolk. She was very generous with her
money and sewing, often giving food and clothing to the poor of her town. Over the years, she
became known for these deeds. As she walked through town, the people began to view her with
respect. They even viewed the scarlet letter A differently, theorizing that it may mean able. While
Hester managed to purge the pain and guilt out of her, she did so at the expense of her
womanhood and beauty: All the light and graceful foliage of her character had been withered up
by his red hot brand, and had long ago fallen away, leaving a bare and harsh outline, which might
have been repulsive, had she possessed friends or companions to be repelled by it. Even the
attractiveness of her person had undergone a similar change. It might be partly owing to the studied
austerity of her dress, and partly to the lack of

Observation For Field Observation
For this field observation study, the Alton Mall in Alton, Illinois was the location chose to be
observed. I chose this location for the mere fact that it is close in proximity of my house, it s
relatively small and it coincides with my research question. This field observation study consists of
observing behaviors, and actions of others in the foodcourt area at the Alton Mall. The research
question at hand wants to look at and learn why individuals choose where to sit, how individuals
act while eating, and how they feel. This study glances over all of these aspects to see how they
correspond and compare with each another.
When discussing the first aspect of my research question, the observations will show where
individuals choose to sit in the food court area. As stated by Hernandez (2015), Past research finds
that people prefer to sit next to others who are similar to them... (p. 1328). During the field
observation conducted, it was found differently, and this has to do with the low amount of
customers flowing in and out of this tiny mall daily. With this smaller mall, seating patterns held up
differently than what is usually expected, due to the fact of individuals being in an empty food
court area or only have one other family present. This is important to study because seating patterns
can give away details of what others are perceiving about one another.
In addition to observing seating patterns, what was also observed was how individuals act while
eating. When

Benefits Of Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals
DACA Repeal: President Barack Obama once said, My fellow Americans, we are and always will
be a nation of immigrants. We were strangers once, too ( Immigrant Quotes ). The United States is a
nation of immigrants. However, immigrants, especially those who are undocumented, face intense
prejudice and discrimination. In recent times, the legal rights of young undocumented immigrants
have been compromised due to the repeal of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Furthermore,
the state of the country is likely to suffer at the hands of the repeal which will have rippling
negative results. The reluctance of the United Statesgovernment to replace the Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrivals policy, may unjustifiably punish undocumented immigrants and limit economic
success for the country.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, more commonly known as DACA, is a program that
was enacted by the Obama Administration in 2012 (Cullinane et al.). DACA provides certain
rights to young people, known as Dreamers, who were brought to America illegally by their
parents. The rights of DACA recipients include deprioritization for removal, deferred action, and
employment authorization (Bier). In order to be eligible for DACA, young undocumented
immigrants must have lived in the U.S. since 15 June 2007, arrived in the U.S. before the age of

Discussion Questions On Formal Language

Assignment 3 [837921]
Question 1
1.1)One expects to find formal language in any place of work and authority such as businesses,
court, parliament, newspapers etc. Any profession which is associated with a high level of
education and order. Formal language is also known to reflect on the speaker s social class. It
shows what type of school you attended, how you were raised and your heritage. Informal
language is more commonly heard in a social environment. For example when you are at a braai or
attending a family function. The people present usually know each other so the atmosphere is more
relaxed and there is not an essential requirement for formality. Informal language is usually used on
social media platforms or instant messaging.
1.2)If you were to address your colleagues, you would need to do it in a formal manner. You
should gather as many facts as possible and also listing as many possible solutions as you can find.
Facts and solutions help in strengthening your argument. This information would be presented to
the board to try and convince them to agree with your point of view. Whereas in a social
environment with your friends informal language could be used. You could discuss teenage
pregnancy and give your personal thoughts and opinions on the topic. Your thought would not need
to be supported by facts as it could be opinion based.
1.3)Whenever you are addressing someone professional, you are required and expected to use
formal language.

This phenomenon is called batching orders and it is one of the causes of the Bullwhip effect.
Another problem identified was that, sales and storage responsibilities were not clearly split. In
fact, it was up to the warehouse manager to deal with the customer once a sale had been made.
Thus, instead of managing the warehouse, they were occupied with client complaints.
In spite of all this model disadvantages, it has some advantages as well. On one hand, the existence
of inventories allows an easier response to fluctuations in demand. Thus, when for some reason,
there is no replenishment the demand is still satisfied. On the other hand, comparing to the Transit
Point, this system has lower transportation costs (Exhibit 6).
COSTS AND BENEFITS OF THE TRANSIT POINT SYSTEM
The transit point system came with the necessity of creating an alternative mean of serving the
Milano customers, while the warehouse was occupied with the Built in appliance exposition. This
system was also an opportunity to check the feasibility of a system with no need of holding
inventory.
The guide lines of this approach were very simple. It established that the regional warehouses
should be eliminated in order to reduce inventory to zero. However, that place would be used like
an exchanged spot , which means that the trucks were filled up in the central warehouse and
unloaded to small local trucks that would deliver the

Stereotyping in Mona in the Promised Land Essay
Throughout the book, Mona in the Promised Land, the main characters are faced with stereotypes
which they cannot control. Stereotypes in society shape the way people are perceived. Everyone

stereotypes are Mona, and Barbara. According to their stereotypes, Barbara is a better all around
person than Mona, due to her social class, but when it comes to dealing with stereotypes Mona is a

They also tell Barbara that she has a Jewish nose. Instead of fighting to overcome the stereotype
that people had of Barbara s nose, Barbara had her nose fixed. Barbara s nose job showed that she
is willing to assimilate to the norm. This is a huge sign of weakness that shows that Mona is
stronger than Barbara.
Mona too has to deal with religious stereotypes. You don t look Jewish, is one of the most often
heard sayings from the people at the pancake house who find out that Mona is Jewish. Mona s
culture says that she should either be Buddhist or Christian. Mona s appearance, that of a
Chinese woman, makes people think that she is not Jewish, only whites can be Jewish, according
to stereotypes. Mona s cultural stereotype causes Rabbi Horwitz to lose his job at the temple.
Even though her Rabbi is fired, Mona does not stop going to temple. Instead of taking it as a
threat, Mona becomes more involved in temple life to show that Chinese people can be Jewish. By
doing this Mona is showing her strength to overcome stereotypes.
Barbara is Jewish and is assumed by her friends to be rich; a very old stereotype of Jews. This is
shown when Seth meets Barbara at the community center and assumes she is rich. His assumption
is shown later in the book when he say, I didn t think you were this rich! Barbara s family too is
under the pressure to show their wealth. To do this Barbara and her family move to a huge house.

Using Data Analysis And Record Keeping
Excel and access are two different programs that are used in data analysis and record keeping.
They both have their advantages and disadvantages of using them but over the years one has
grown to dominate the field of records and analysis. Access is made up of seven major
components which are relationships, queries, forms, reports, modules, tables and macros
(Brady Monk, 2009). Due to this complexity of divisions, using it becomes cumbersome the
hence not the right tool for data analysis unlike excel where you only enter the data in tables.
Over the years excel has proven to be the perfect platform to collect and analyze data on. This is
due to constant improvements in data analysis formulas, graphs, charts and analysis styles the
latest one being pivot tables. The greatest advantage of excel is that it is easily compatible with
other business software s hence ability to offer better results. Giving the ease of entering data in
excel the first priority in the hierarchy of its advantages, other facts that stand out in excel include
building great charts using pie charts and graphs. This will help a lot in the presentation of data
collected. Use of conditional formatting is another fact that makes excel stand out against access.
This is because you have the ability to format orders differently depending on customers or goods
ordered. The last very important advantage of excel is the ability to analyze data and identify
different trends of different customers or goods

the EU. Then, the essay will show that it was a successful integration and will do so via analysis
of it. Lastly this essay will show that this success was part of Ireland itself and that its economic
improvements cannot be reduced to community transfers. In the decades before integration, there
was doubt on the ability of a small poor country like Ireland, to survive when there existed such a

Comparing Madagascar And Madagascar, Malawi And Malawi
Madagascar and Malawi are two countries in Africa that both have control and protection over their
natural resources and also their property rights. Each country has natural resources and the two
countries listed above share a few of the same ones. The government has organizations in both
Madagascar and Malawi that protect and monitor the natural resources that are in their countries.
Something unique that separates Madagascar from Malawi is that Madagascar also relies heavily
on their community to help preserve their resources and keep them kept well. The propertyrights in
both of the above countries are similar in the sense that the government makes the laws and they
are to be followed. There can be many changes in laws and regulations when new bills are passed

ways of control over their natural resources and property rights. After lots of research
Madagascar s stance on the control of natural resources are not protected by just a group of
people but instead they rely on the whole community. Malawi has a somewhat similar take on their

west. When trying to understand a culture from a foreign perspective, it is important to analyze the
geography that makes up that country.
Spain s geography is unique because it is located on the Iberian Peninsula with mountainous terrain
throughout the landmass. The central portion of Spain mostly consists of high plateaus of land
surround by rocky hills. Integrated into these plateaus are rural farm and cattle lands that create
much of Spain s agricultural industry. This industry comes through the harvesting of barley and
wheat, however, the crops that produce the most value consist of citrus fruits such as oranges. The
climate of Spain varies from region to region, but in a majority of the country during the summer
months, it is arid and hot. Temperatures often climb into the triple digits, however there is
relatively no humidity. During the winter, temperatures tend to hover around fifty degrees
Fahrenheit. It is difficult to pinpoint regions of agriculture on a map of Spain, because the country
is dotted with various mountain ranges. Examples of such

Genital Herpes Essay
I have infected 45 million Americans and will infect 1 million more Americans each year. Who am
I?
Herpes, from the ancient Greek meaning to creep or crawl, is the name of a family of viruses of
which herpes simplex virus 1 and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV 1 and HSV 2) are the most serious
human pathogens. HSV 1 is normally associated with orofacial infections and encephalitis, whereas
HSV 2 usually causes genital infections and can be transmitted from infected mothers to neonates.
Both viruses establish latent infections in sensory neurons and, upon reactivation, cause lesions at
or near point of entry into the body.
While HSV 1 and HSV 2 are different viruses, under a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These signs can last from two to three weeks. The early symptoms can include an itching or
burning sensation; pain in the legs, buttocks, or genital area; vaginal discharge; or a feeling of
pressure in the abdominal region.
Within a few days, sores (also called lesions) appear at the site of infection. Lesions can also
occur on the cervix in women or in the urinary passage in men. These small red bumps may
develop into blisters or painful open sores. Over a period of days, the sores become crusted and
then heal without scarring. Other symptoms of a first episode of genital herpes can include fever,
headache, muscle aches, painful or difficult urination, vaginal discharge, and swollen glands in the
groin area.
Anyone infected with either virus can experience flare ups. In people who have healthy immune
systems, a herpes flare up usually lasts a few weeks. In people with compromised immune systems
the herpes sores can last for longer than a month. In a very small number of cases, herpes can
spread to other organs, including the eyes, the throat, the lungs, and the brain.
HSV 1 and HSV 2 look identical under the microscope, and either type can infect the mouth or
genitals. Most commonly, however, HSV 1 occurs above the waist, and HSV 2 occurs below the
waist. Both HSV 1 and HSV 2 live in nerve cells, usually under

The Epic Of Beowulf By Seamus Heaney
Biography: Beowulf is an old story, that was composed somewhere between the middle of the
seventh and tenth century, that used to be told orally in front of large groups of people, never
being written down until much later when the original teller was long dead. Therefore the
original author of Beowulf is unknown, however Seamus Heaney is one of the many to have
translated it from old english into current english so many others can enjoy it as well. Seamus
Heaney was born on April 13 in 1939. Born and raised in Ireland he was the eldest of nine
children, and grew up on a family farm. The landscape gave him reason and background for many
of his poems. He attended St. Columb s College in Londonderry. After that he went to Queen s
University... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1975 he began teaching at Carysfort College, and became the head of the Department of
English. He later resigned from his position at the college in 1981. He then went to Harvard to
teach as the Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory in February of 1982, as well as teaching at
Oxford as a professor of poetry. These jobs were a five year teaching arrangement. Mid 1980 s he
began to translate the tale of Beowulf, and finished it in 1999.
Seamus Heaney was influenced by poets like Gerard Manley Hopkins and John Crowe Ransom,
who were also Irish. Yet, he was also influenced by the time he spent in America. When he was
translating Beowulf, he attempted to keep the Anglo Saxon tone it had originally, while adding
his own twist to it. He maintains the four line stress pattern it originally had, but also adds in
imagery to make scenes more colorful. On top of this, he offers helpful notes on pronunciations of
names, as well as specific usages of language instead of analogies.
In 1995 Heaney won the Nobel Prize in Literature, being the second Irish poet to do so. He wrote
five major works in his lifetime: Death of a Naturalist, North, The Haw Lantern, District and Circle,
and Beowulf; A New Translation. Heaney s constant switch between two continents earned him
audiences in Ireland, Britain, and America. He s earned many other prestigious awards including
the W.H. Smith Award,

The Night Circus Research Paper
Why would a person fall in love with their life long adversary? That is the case between Celia
and Marco in The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, but Celia and Marco do not realize the
consequences. Many of their coworkers at the circus die because of their reckless relationship. Also,
Celia and Marco put the competition, the circus, in jeopardy because their relationship can ruin the
circus. The novel The Night Circus has three essential searches, and those are the search for
acceptance, affection, and answers в є (Alliteration). Marco and Bailey are both on separate
searches for acceptance. They are on different searches, but they both want to be accepted because
both of them have been rejected. Marco just wants to spend time with... Show more content on

Both of them question the mysteriousness of the circus, so they have become serious. Poppet is
able to gaze into the future when she looks at people. Poppet uses that information that she
collects to find answers to who is going be in the circus in the future. Tara is also curious about
the circus, but for another reason. She does her best to explain her concern. That there is more
going on with the circus than most people are privy to (Morgenstern 262). The book then
continues to explain Tara s skepticism, and then Tara decides to investigate. Poppet and Tara
both been affected by their investigations of the circus. Poppet wants to find more answers to not
be depressed, but she does not like that she invades people s privacy to get her answers. Tara s
search affected her way differently than Poppet s, and Tara s search lead to her being careless.
Her carelessness eventually led to her demise because she was investigating and then got hit by a
train. Poppet and Tara Burgess are two of the large amount of people who are on a search for
answers.
The search for acceptance, affection, and answers are all key parts to The Night Circus. All of
those searches were eventually problematic because of Celia and Marco s relationship. Any of
those searches should not allow you to fall in love with a life long adversary.

Sense And Sensibility Play Summary
My impression of the play Sense Sensibility adapted by Jessica Swale was that it was almost like
a soap opera . There were tons of drama throughout the play and was also was almost two and
half hours long. It was based on a family the lives in England from the mid 90 s called the
Dashwood s. Throughout the play it was mostly based on the struggles that the Dashwood s
went through on a daily basis. The main struggle was them losing their father John Dashwood.
They lost their castle of a house and almost all of the wealth. Everything went to Mr. Dashwood
s half brother and his wife. Also, the love feuds that went on between Elinor Dashwood and
Marianne Dashwood played a huge part of the play. Sense Sensibility started off with the
Dashwood s losing their house and basically all of their money. This caused great anger and fear
for the Dashwood family. Before the family had to move out of the house one of the protagonist
Elinor Dashwood fell in love with her sister in law s brother Edward. They had to move into their
distant relatives the Middleton s family. Their house wasn t anything special and lived in a small
town. It was hard for the Dashwood s to adjust to a completely different lifestyle.... Show more

The lights didn t move with the actor. The Dashwood family were the main characters of the
play and they all wore white clothing, which made them stick out more. The director made a
good call on having them all in white because it made them seem more important than the others
and when the other played a different character it obvious. The other characters were dressed in
typical mid 90 s England wardrobe with lots of colors and pants. The scenery of the play was
based on the screen in the back of the stage. It was changed throughout different scenes. The scene
would look like you were in a house, or outside in the valley, or by the ocean. The music in the
play was when Marianne would play the piano or

Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare
Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William
Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author
of his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy.
De Vere was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in
Shakespeare s plays and had a similar writingstructure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that
William from Stratfor did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did.
De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to
Shakespeare. According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer .
Since a multitude of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar
with the law system, which de Vere was. According to Britannica, de Vere studied with Arthur
Golding (who translated Metamorphoses by Ovid, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Britannica, [de Vere s] poems apparently ceased just before Shakespeare s work
began to appear (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). De Vere started writing through
poetry, but soon after his career halted, Shakespeare s writing started to be seen. It is believed
that de Vere stopped writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social
stigma that was associated with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name,
Shakespeare. This theory is also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to
Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De
Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is significant because this type of poetry was not used very
commonly among poets of Shakespeare s time. The similarities between de Vere and Shakespeare s
poems shows the potential authorship de Vere could have

My Dance In Dance
The lights are on me and the other performers on stage. The crowd is cheering so loud the music
can t even be heard. Hearing them cheer made me push myself harder than I already was. I can
hear the crowd screaming my name and which made me feel confident in my dancing. The whole
first floor of the auditorium was filled with people shouting at their top of their lungs. Performing
in front of a crowd just fills me with adrenaline and makes me forget about the world. It s almost
as if I m free even though I have a choreography to follow.
Ever since I was a little kid I was always in love with the arts. I would always draw, color, and
paint something. My favorite class in elementary class was art and I wanted to be an artist at that
time.. As time went by I changed my mind after falling in love with the movie Pirates of the
Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. I wanted to be in a movie just like that. I kept dreaming
of becoming an actor but I didn t do anything. I was too shy to ever join the drama club in 5th
grade and middle school. When high school came along I decided to put my shyness to the side and
take the drama class because if I wanted to be an actor I had to take action.
After the first day of class I instantly fell in love with it and was glad I took the decision in
taking that class. I also joined the drama club and I fell in love with the arts more. Taking the
drama classes and joining the drama was the best decision I ever did and it made my high school

The Case Of Planned Parenthood V Casey
Spousal Notice This provision did not hold up in court because the spousal notice was deemed
unconstitutional in the case of Planned Parenthood v Casey (1992) (Casebriefs, n.d., Pennsylvania
General Assembly, 1982).
When Roe v Wade (1973) concluded that women were able to have a legal abortion, abortion rates
soared (New, 2011). When the provisions from the Pennsylvania Abortion Control act were put into
law, abortion rates declined. Between 1990 and 2005, the legal abortions declined significantly by
22.22 percent (New, 2011). It was deemed unconstitutional for men to know about their wives
abortions, contemplating that it may lead to abuse (O Brien, 2011). Men have an ethical argument
that questions, is a wise decision for men s rights to having children?
Partial Birth Abortion Act of 2003
The Partial Abortion Act was brought to the attention of the courts in 2003. Before this law, the
method for abortion, usually during the fifth month or later, was partially delivering the baby
alive before the skull was injured. The spinal cord was snipped by the physician, and the baby was
killed. This gruesome act was being performed daily by physicians. This law recognized that the
fetus was now a different being than the mother, instituting of murder, because the fetus was
partially delivered alive, then killed by severing the spinal cord. (The National Right to Life
Committee Incorporated, 2014).

The company attaches great importance to treating their three groups of stakeholders shareholders, customers and employees with equal respect. If the balance shifts in favor of one or two of the groups, this will be to the long term detriment of all groups (Zeithmal, Bitner and Gremler 1996). The bank s core values are its fundamental cornerstone. In the eyes of both clients and employees, the following traits are what make Jyske bank unique: Common sense Open and honest Different and unpretentious Genuine interest and equal respect ... Jyske management strongly believed that value is created through decisions and encouraged empowerment of not only employees but also of the whole branch, with the managers to set the example through their leadership and management style. Additionally, with documentation, training and legal documents all centralized at the bank s headquarters it allowed human resources to be more active in dealing with human issues and even enabled them to outsource their problem solving skills as HR professionals in the field (at a regional level) for a fee. This service was at the cost of the bank branch if they needed it, but was not compulsory. Question3: Analyze Jyske bank s success using the service quality gaps model found in Chapter 2. • 4. Ed Kennedy s Response To The Messenger Ed is the only person in the novel we can admire. Discuss. The Messenger shows that by behaving in an altruistic way, our admiration towards a person grows. Throughout the novel many different altruistic acts have been achieved by the protagonist, Ed Kennedy. By the end of the book we have developed a level of respect and admiration for him as he managed to transform himself and others around him. Markus Zusak was sending Ed messages to get him to behave in that manner but he was also sending a message to the reader to also start behaving that way. All these can relate back to the altruistic tasks that have been achieved and how they influenced Ed s life and can easily influence ours. At the start of the novel we see Ed, a 19 year old ... This is taking the young adult audience to a very serious place and making them consider very adult problems. We see Ed having to handle a rape case , an old lady that made him think how a human could be so lonely and a young family that didn t have much but were beautiful [...] in what they are . Whilst doing this Zusak has also kept the underlying elements of surprise and mystery present throughout the novel. By integrating these two ideas, The Messenger is providing useful guidance to how the younger generation should act and behave. As Zusak appears very omniscient in his role as the messenger, he has used this role to his advantage and it appears as though he is not only telling Ed to live beyond what [he is] capable of , but also telling the ... • 5. Representation In The American Colonies All throughout of the history of mankind, the notion of sovereignty was linked to right of succession through a religious belief that God rules mankind and therefore has the rightful authority to appoint a king who then, in turn, serves as legitimate authority until his successor is appointed. The role of the church in legitimating and prolonging the rule of royalty was critical, and through the combination of kings and priests, the subjects such governments were convinced that the king was the depository of legitimate power and legal authority and the king, therefore, could do no wrong. Because of the king s arrogance and alleged superiority, the American colonies declared their independence against Britain on July 4th, 1776. Three of their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the time of crisis, if you lived in England, you paid more in taxes than any American colonist. The proceeds from the colonies taxation were used to supplement England s defense, which would have been a good reason, but at that point, the French threat was gone. The funds received from American colonists barely covered one third of the cost of maintaining British troops in the thirteen colonies, but the colonists felt the troops were only there to watch them since the threats from the French were long gone. To the colonists, the further taxation was offensive. They had cleared acres of land, fought off Native Americans, and watched as their relatives die in the process of building a colony that enhanced the British Empire. For hundreds of years in British history, Parliament followed the tradition of receiving permission for levying taxes. Even though the king had these divine rights and so forth, when the British Parliament taxed the colonists without their consent, the colonists traditional rights were ... There are also possibilities of more foreign budget airlines operating in Singapore, and big airlines may also slash their prices to compete with the budget airlines. Bargaining power of buyers The power of buyer is moderately high because the access to the internet allows customers to have close to full information on prices charged by the LCCs. Price sensitive customers and first time fliers tend to go for the В‘most value for money deals and thus it s more of a В‘win win situation for the consumers as the respective LCCs slash their prices now and then to gain a temporary advantage. Conclusion As the competition intensifies, it would be ideal for LCCs to not only concentrate on cost cutting measures but to pay attention to key aspects like branding to attain a decent market share. Airasia is a fine example where they have gone on to promote themselves on the global frontier by being the sponsor for В‘Amazing Race Asia . They have also extended their sponsorship deal with Manchester United football club to jointly promote the tourism industry in Malaysia. If it was mapped out they wouldn t have died, and the plan would have been more successful. • 9. The Role Of Robots I imagine my future with robots, advanced phone, flying cars and much more. A lot of people think that robots will take over the world and take people s job, etc. Robots are being use to go to war and taking people s jobs. Robots are operating environment, the relatively high initial cost of robots means that they tend to be only used by large companies or in defence. It is unlikely that all the humans will be replaced by robots in any task, it is much more likely that fewer people will be needed because for many years robots will be assistants. Robots are usually thought of as being mobile but they don t have to be. For example, washing machines, dishwashers, and tumble driers can also be thought of as robots. The future is most likely to be one of productivity gains. They are trying to put brains and several sensors and actuators in robots. The technology has been available for many years. The advances happening in technology and it s becoming that evident that computers, machines, robots, and other things are going to be able to do most of the routine, and repetitive types of jobs. A lot of skills levels fall into that category. People with college degrees, even professional degrees, also lawyers are doing things that ultimately are predictable. A lot of those jobs are going to be susceptible over time. Right now there s still a lot of debate over it. • 10. Essay on Noah and the Ark Noah and the Ark The story of Noah and the ark is probably one of the most read stories of the bible. Perhaps it is because of the great tragedy it portrays, or because it is a story of salvation. Noah and his family along with the animals were saved from the flood, while the other people and animals perished as a result of it. Growing up the story of Noah and the ark was one of my favorites; Quite simply because of the drawings depicting the story. God decided to wipe out mankind with a flood. In order to help repopulate the earth after the flood was over, God called upon Noah. God told Noah to build himself an ark out of cypress wood, with room inside. He told Noah to cover the ark, both inside and out with pitch to protect it from the waters. God instructed Noah as to the size of the ark, and what it was to look like. The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. Make a roof for it and finish the ark within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle, and upper decks. (Genesis 6: 15 16) God also told Noah about the plan for the flood, and what he was to do with the ark. Noah, his wife, his sons, and his sons wives would all be on the ark an spared from the destruction the flood would cause. Along with his family, God wanted Noah to bring two of all living creatures, one male, and one female. Brining a male and a female of each kind of creature would allow them to reproduce and repopulate their species. The last thing God commanded Noah to do was to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and stored for his family and the creatures. Noah and his family entered the ark as God had commanded. After seven days, the waters of the flood were over the earth. All the wellsprings of the great deep burst and the casements of the heavens were opened. (Genesis pg 32) It rained for forty ... • 11. Reflection Paper On Nutrition Nutrition can be part of a major role of improving your overall body composition and health. I decided to write about the topic nutrition because, we were assigned to track our eating habits on Super Tracker for seven days. They set up for you, the recommended portion size, based on your height, age and weight. Super Tracker taught me a valuable lesson about keeping portion sizes in mind, and checking labels because just because the label says it has fiber or something, it doesn t necessary mean it does; it can have more added sugars than fibers. Now, I know how much calories I should take in everyday and what I need to improve on because I had lot of nutrients, mineral and vitamins that was under the recommend amount that I needed. With this Super Tracker website, it made me realize that I need to eat healthier, because I am at risk of having lots of health problems in the future, if I continue to eat the way I do. Looking at my report really made me realize that maybe because I was so low/over on mostly everything, that therefore it is the cause of my daily headaches and why I feel weak and dizzy mostly every day of the week. The report indicated that I was over on saturated fats, under my calorie intake, low on dairy and fruit intake and many more. As I was doing my research, eating more fruits will improve my sources of nutrients, including potassium, fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C and folate. The nutrients in fruit are vital for health and maintenance for my body. The potassium in fruit can reduce my risk of heart disease and stroke. Also, according to my dietary report, I am over with my saturated fats, as I stated above. Eating too much total fat (especially saturated fat and trans fat), cholesterol, or sodium may increase my risk of certain chronic diseases, such as heart disease, some cancers, or high blood pressure. Therefore, because of how badly my report came out, it was an eye opener. I want to find ways on how to improve my nutritionand maintain it and what the better outcomes are for maintaining good nutrition. In order to improve my nutrition, I will need to change my diet by taking small steps every day. My dietary nutrition report stated that I am over my added sugars, so to decrease my ... The stabilizing legal environment, considerable credit expansion and increased spending on infrastructure by government have also contributed to the growth. The high inflation last year caused precipitous import prices. Consequently, the shilling weakened, falling to a historic low of 107 to the dollar in October. Therefore, the cost of construction materials rose by about 40% and forced property developers to spend more on projects. The play Rachel, by Angelina GrimkГ©, reveals the harsh realities of life for an African American family living in the United States during the early part of the 20th century. Focused on the central character Rachel Loving, the play reflects each character s reaction to racial prejudice against African Americans. The themes of motherhood and the innocence of youth are vital pieces of the issues GrimkГ© wished to portray in her work. The development of Rachel herself revolves around her changing perception of what the role of motherhood might be. This insight stems from her understanding of the importance of childlike innocence towards the terrible truths of the world in which we are surrounded by. Through the use of poignant dialogue and... She makes it seem as if her situation is not as bad as it really is. Rachel is an educated woman, who deserves to have a substantial job, not being confined to a house on a daily basis. Rachel continues by stating, We live. According to your philosophy, I suppose, make the best of it it might be worse (51). Once again, Rachel is convincing herself that a very obvious issue is not as pressing as it actually is. GrimkГ© could have easily created a simplistic character that lacks depth and vigor, but instead created an individual that grapples with deep psychological trauma and spans farther than what meets the eye. Another example of Rachel s obsession with youth is her love for being surrounded by children and her intense desire to be a mother. This observation is first present on page 5 when Mrs. Loving says to Rachel, You re not happy unless some child is trailing along in your rear (5). This statement allows readers to see Rachel s infatuation with children. Another example of this is when Rachel states, I think the loveliest thing of all the lovely things in this world is just (almost in a whisper) being a mother! (12). Masculinity In Brokeback Mountain And Blood Meridian Ang Lee s Brokeback Mountain and Cormac McCarthy s Blood Meridian both challenge the traditional societal views of masculinity in the Western genre. Brokeback Mountain depicts two cowboys involved in a homosexual relationship, focusing on coupling the opposing themes of homosexuality and masculinity. On the other hand, Blood Meridian introduces the reader to the Kid, who courageously establishes his own masculinity outside of the Judge s hypermasculine and traditional Westernphilosophy. Brokeback Mountain and Blood Meridian are both classified as Westerns. The Western is a beloved American genre that features the quintessential cowboy hero. The constant struggle between the two characters to be together is heartbreaking and Jack s death is purposely shown as a murder in order to create an emotional response from the audience. Roughton (2014, p. 89) highlights that Jack s death being foreshadowed by Ennis witnessing the result of a bashing of a gay man as a child, links violence and punishment to homosexuality and sinning. Arguably, the biggest contester to homosexuality is the potential for sin. However, by introducing the audience to two characters whom they grow attached to and want to see happy, then demonstrating the consequences of their love in our current society, sparks a reaction from the audience that causes them to question why these traditional masculine values exist in our society. Hence, although Brokeback Mountain combines masculine icons with homosexuality to question traditional masculinity associated with the Western, it also demonstrates the consequences of challenging such values in our current society in order to highlight to the audience how devastating masculinity and its expectations can ... Chris Nguyen 08/11/2006 AP US History A Comparison of the New England and Chesapeake Bay Regions During the 1700 s, people in the American colonies lived in very distinctive societies. While some colonists led hard lives, others were healthy and prosperous. The two groups who showed these differences were the colonists of the New England and Chesapeake Bay areas. The differentiating characteristics among the Chesapeake and New England colonies developed due to economy, religion, and motives for colonial expansion. The one established church in the region, the Anglican Church of Jesus Christ, was only then established in 1692, more than 70 years after the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock. Most people didn t even go to church regularly or participate in the Anglican Church. The differences in the two regions are not only seen in their religion, but can also be found in their economies. The economy of New England was far more inferior to that of the Chesapeake economy. This was because the New England society was family oriented and primarily owned only small family farms just large enough to feed their families. Their economy was mainly based on small farming and fishing. This shows that New England was not focusing on economic growth and expansion. The Chesapeake Bay, on the other hand, had a vast economy. The population of Chesapeake Bay outnumbered New England s population nearly three to one. Their economy was mainly based on the tobacco and slave trading industries. These businesses contributed greatly to the Chesapeake Bay s economic and colonial expansion. This explains why people who came to the New World looking to make money chose to go to Chesapeake Bay rather than the New England area. Colonists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stemming from World War I, its culture, art and philosophy reveals the mindset of modernity and how the historical events of that time influenced life and society. T.S. Eliot was a part of the literary and artistic movement called Modernism, which can be seen best in his poem The Waste Land. The concept of the wasteland was a powerful one to his generation. His poem depicts an image of the modern world through the perspective of the common man finding himself hopeless and confused about the condition of society. The poem paints a picture of a disjointed and desolate world through apparent confusion and chaos that that is achieved through fragments and allusions. The Waste Land demonstrates the present day wasteland as a metaphor of modern Europe to depict the loss of culture and history that was suffered due to the war. Arguably, the most important aspect of the poem is its fragmented nature used to depict a post World War I wasteland. Rather than using facts to show the state of Europe, Eliot uses several poetic elements to convey this, particularly the allusive and obscure to paint an image of physical desolation of the war torn society and also communicate a sense of loss and despair. The image of London, in the first section The Burial Dead, gives a sense of the trauma and cultural desolation caused by the war. The narrator, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This situation calmed everyone about the economys health making the unemployment rate of 4.9, till now the unemployment rate has remained the same. The economy is in better shape than most people believe. Incomes have been higher, unemployment has dropped, and industrial production has been up there. With an unemployment rate of 4.9% we are basically at full employment and 2.5% of those employed being college students who have graduated. Also labor markets are thinking to increase the hourly earnings. Total payroll employment is higher than the six hundred thousand in the last three months, and the ratio of employment to population, which has been low for several years, has been much better. Ancient Grecian theatre was hugely important to the Greeks. The ideas found in their plays influenced the common way of thinking. The actual theatre structures were spaces for architects and sculptors of the time to show off their superb talent. Modern historians studying the ruins and ancient texts of Greece frequently come across the fingerprint that theatre left, evidence of which can still be seen today in modern Greece. One of the most obvious displays of theatre s impact on Greece is in the magnificent ruins of ancient structures. Most of the ruins of ancient Grecian theatres that survive to this day are from no earlier than fourth century BC. This is because there was a transition from the usage of wood in building theatres to using stone at that time, which allowed the structures to be much more well preserved. Even the ruins show that an extreme amount of artistry and mathematical skill was necessary in the construction of these ancient structures. For instance, because of the lack of amplifying technology in ancient Greece, the theatres were constructed with the aim of natural supplementation of sound in the way of acoustics. It is quite a feat when the people in the back row of some twenty thousand people can hear the actors without the need of yelling and without any means of unnatural magnification. When A Modest Proposal was published, or to give it s full name A Modest Proposal for preventing the children of poor people in Ireland, from being a burden on their parents or country, and for making them beneficial to the public. England dominated the whole of Ireland. English landlords owned much of Ireland s property, Charging ridiculous amounts for rent to poor tenants who could barely afford to pay. England imposed extremely high taxes on Ireland and the English laws which restricted Irish trade made it impossible for the country to ever prosper. In general, the English had, at this time, a negative attitude towards Irish people, and Roman Catholics which most Irish people were. This knowledge is important when reading and understanding this piece. Without knowing a little about the political and social state at this time, it may be difficult to pick up on Swift s use of satire. However the piece itself, even the full title does educate the reader to an extent, talking about different social classes and focusing particularly on the poor in Ireland. This essay purports to be neither decisive nor conclusive, but merely attempts to assess the importance on the historical content of A Modest Proposalin order to see if it is a required element when trying to understand the piece. Due to this complexity of divisions, using it becomes cumbersome the hence not the right tool for data analysis unlike excel where you only enter the data in tables. How Integration Has Had On One Of Its Member Countries With respect to a specific regional economic grouping (e.g. EU, NAFTA, etc.), investigate the impact integration has had on one of its member countries Before seeing how economic integration has been developed in Ireland, we briefly introduce the process of economic integration in a specific regional economic grouping. According to Andrew Harrison (2010), economic integration concerns a set of geographically close countries. They decided to build an economic and social space in which there will not be obstacles to trade, as these relate to goods, capital and people. This is accompanied by the creation of common institutions to manage the common interests of the country. Economic integration is the result of construction, it cannot be... However, can the economic success of Ireland only be explained by a European integration and the simple result of an aid policy and funding? This essay will describe the beginnings of integration of Ireland into the EU. Then, the essay will show that it was a successful integration and will do so via analysis of it. Lastly this essay will show that this success was part of Ireland itself and that its economic improvements cannot be reduced to community transfers. In the decades before integration, there was doubt on the ability of a small poor country like Ireland, to survive when there existed such a large development gap between the other countries in the community. Free competition, established by Article 3 of the Treaty of Rome, was likely to disadvantage Irish companies, family type businesses were very vulnerable to external pressure, and which, moreover, often owed their survival to the regime of border protection. There was also doubt that the chances of a small peripheral and post colonial state, still economically dependent on the United Kingdom, to find its place in an international organization alongside major industrialized countries. (Kaiser et al. 2004) The economic successes of the EEC were at the end of the 50s, which encouraged the United Kingdom to be more interested in the EU. Comparing Madagascar And Madagascar, Malawi And Malawi Madagascar and Malawi are two countries in Africa that both have control and protection over their natural resources and also their property rights. Each country has natural resources and the two countries listed above share a few of the same ones. The government has organizations in both Madagascar and Malawi that protect and monitor the natural resources that are in their countries. Something unique that separates Madagascar from Malawi is that Madagascar also relies heavily on their community to help preserve their resources and keep them kept well. The propertyrights in both of the above countries are similar in the sense that the government makes the laws and they are to be followed. There can be many changes in laws and regulations when new bills are passed or a new leader is elected. Madagascar and Malawi are both countries in Africawith very similar ways of control over their natural resources and property rights. After lots of research Madagascar s stance on the control of natural resources are not protected by just a group of people but instead they rely on the whole community. Malawi has a somewhat similar take on their control because they use an organization to monitor their resources. Without any control or protection over them people will destroy them and they will no longer be special to that country. • 42. Assignment On Cultural Awareness Cultural Awareness Assignment Thinking about which country and culture to choose for this assignment was a difficult process because there is a plethora to choose from! I decided to choose Spain as I lived there for a short period of time. Spain, is a country located in western Europe and is bordered by Portugal, France, and Gibraltar. It lies between the Mediterranean Sea to its east and the North Atlantic Ocean to its west. When trying to understand a culture from a foreign perspective, it is important to analyze the geography that makes up that country. Spain s geography is unique because it is located on the Iberian Peninsula with mountainous terrain throughout the landmass. The central portion of Spain mostly consists of high plateaus of land surround by rocky hills. Integrated into these plateaus are rural farm and cattle lands that create much of Spain s agricultural industry. This industry comes through the harvesting of barley and wheat, however, the crops that produce the most value consist of citrus fruits such as oranges. The climate of Spain varies from region to region, but in a majority of the country during the summer months, it is arid and hot. Temperatures often climb into the triple digits, however there is relatively no humidity. During the winter, temperatures tend to hover around fifty degrees Fahrenheit. It is difficult to pinpoint regions of agriculture on a map of Spain, because the country is dotted with various mountain ranges. Examples of such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Herpes, from the ancient Greek meaning to creep or crawl, is the name of a family of viruses of which herpes simplex virus 1 and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV 1 and HSV 2) are the most serious human pathogens. HSV 1 is normally associated with orofacial infections and encephalitis, whereas HSV 2 usually causes genital infections and can be transmitted from infected mothers to neonates. Both viruses establish latent infections in sensory neurons and, upon reactivation, cause lesions at or near point of entry into the body. While HSV 1 and HSV 2 are different viruses, under a ... The early symptoms can include an itching or burning sensation; pain in the legs, buttocks, or genital area; vaginal discharge; or a feeling of pressure in the abdominal region. Within a few days, sores (also called lesions) appear at the site of infection. Lesions can also occur on the cervix in women or in the urinary passage in men. These small red bumps may develop into blisters or painful open sores. Over a period of days, the sores become crusted and then heal without scarring. Other symptoms of a first episode of genital herpes can include fever, headache, muscle aches, painful or difficult urination, vaginal discharge, and swollen glands in the groin area. Anyone infected with either virus can experience flare ups. In people who have healthy immune systems, a herpes flare up usually lasts a few weeks. In people with compromised immune systems the herpes sores can last for longer than a month. In a very small number of cases, herpes can spread to other organs, including the eyes, the throat, the lungs, and the brain. • 44. The Epic Of Beowulf By Seamus Heaney Biography: Beowulf is an old story, that was composed somewhere between the middle of the seventh and tenth century, that used to be told orally in front of large groups of people, never being written down until much later when the original teller was long dead. Therefore the original author of Beowulf is unknown, however Seamus Heaney is one of the many to have translated it from old english into current english so many others can enjoy it as well. Seamus Heaney was born on April 13 in 1939. Born and raised in Ireland he was the eldest of nine children, and grew up on a family farm. The landscape gave him reason and background for many of his poems. He attended St. Columb s College in Londonderry. After that he went to Queen s University... He then went to Harvard to teach as the Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory in February of 1982, as well as teaching at Oxford as a professor of poetry. These jobs were a five year teaching arrangement. Mid 1980 s he began to translate the tale of Beowulf, and finished it in 1999. Seamus Heaney was influenced by poets like Gerard Manley Hopkins and John Crowe Ransom, who were also Irish. Yet, he was also influenced by the time he spent in America. When he was translating Beowulf, he attempted to keep the Anglo Saxon tone it had originally, while adding his own twist to it. He maintains the four line stress pattern it originally had, but also adds in imagery to make scenes more colorful. On top of this, he offers helpful notes on pronunciations of names, as well as specific usages of language instead of analogies. In 1995 Heaney won the Nobel Prize in Literature, being the second Irish poet to do so. He wrote five major works in his lifetime: Death of a Naturalist, North, The Haw Lantern, District and Circle, and Beowulf; A New Translation. Heaney s constant switch between two continents earned him audiences in Ireland, Britain, and America. He s earned many other prestigious awards including the W.H. Smith Award, ... • 46. Sense And Sensibility Play Summary My impression of the play Sense Sensibility adapted by Jessica Swale was that it was almost like a soap opera . There were tons of drama throughout the play and was also was almost two and half hours long. It was based on a family the lives in England from the mid 90 s called the Dashwood s. Throughout the play it was mostly based on the struggles that the Dashwood s went through on a daily basis. The main struggle was them losing their father John Dashwood. They lost their castle of a house and almost all of the wealth. Everything went to Mr. Dashwood s half brother and his wife. Also, the love feuds that went on between Elinor Dashwood and Marianne Dashwood played a huge part of the play. Sense Sensibility started off with the Dashwood s losing their house and basically all of their money. This caused great anger and fear for the Dashwood family. Before the family had to move out of the house one of the protagonist Elinor Dashwood fell in love with her sister in law s brother Edward. • 47. Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author of his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy. De Vere was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in Shakespeare s plays and had a similar writingstructure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that William from Stratfor did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did. De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to Shakespeare. According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer . Since a multitude of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar with the law system, which de Vere was. De Vere started writing through poetry, but soon after his career halted, Shakespeare s writing started to be seen. It is believed that de Vere stopped writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social stigma that was associated with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name, Shakespeare. This theory is also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is significant because this type of poetry was not used very commonly among poets of Shakespeare s time.
