QUADRILATERALS
PARALLELOGRAM
PRELIMINARY
PLOT, CONNECT and IDENTIFY
• Plot the following set of points in the Cartesian
plane. Connect each given set to form a
quadrilateral. Identify if the figure is a
parallelogram or not. Use different colors of pen
and label each point with a big letter.
1.(-1, 2), (-1, 0), (1, 0), (1, 2)
2.(1, 0), (3, 0), (0, -2), (3, -2)
3.(-4, -2)(-4, -4), (0, -2), (0, -4)
4.(3, 4), (2, 2), (3, 0), (4, 2)
5.(-4, 2), (-5, 1), (-3, 1), (-4, -2)
6.(-2, 4), (-4, 2), (-1, 2), (1, 4)
Activity 1
Four Sided Everywhere!
Study the illustrations and answer the questions
that follow.
QUESTIONS:
1.Do you see a quadrilaterals?
2.Are there any parallelograms?
3.What happens when you change
their design?
4. Can you give significance on their
designs?
Activity 2
WE ARE FAMILY!
ANALYSIS:
a. How are quadrilaterals
related to each other?
b. Which quadrilaterals are
parallelograms?
Study the schematic diagram of
quadrilateral and answer the
questions that follow.
KINDS OF QUADRILATERAL
• TRAPEZOID – a quadrilateral with only one pair of
opposite sides are parallel
• ISOSCELES TRAPEZOID – a trapezoid in which the non-
parallel sides are congruent
• PARALLELOGRAM – a quadrilateral in which two pairs of
opposite sides are parallel
• RHOMBUS – a parallelogram with four congruent sides
• SQUARE – a parallelogram with four congruent sides
and four congruent angles
• KITE – a quadrilateral in which two consecutive sides
are congruent
Write ALWAYS, SOMETIMES or NEVER for each
given statement.
________1. The sum of the measures of the interior
angles of a trapezium is not necessarily 3600.
________2. A parallelogram is a trapezoid.
________3. A rectangle can never be a rhombus.
________4. If the opposite sides of a quadrilateral
are congruent, then it is a rectangle.
________5. Every rhombus is a parallelogram.
Activity 3:
WHAT I CAN DO
________6. If the diagonals of a
quadrilateral are perpendicular
bisectors of each other, then the
quadrilateral is a rhombus.
________7. The bases of a
trapezoid may be congruent.
________8. All squares are
rhombuses.
________9. If a parallelogram is
a square, it is also a rectangle.
_______10. Every parallelogram
is a quadrilateral.
Tell whether the statement is
ALWAYS. SOMETIMES and
NEVER.
___________1. A Parallelogram is a Quadrilateral.
___________2. All Squares are Rectangles.
___________3. Each Rhombus is a Trapezoid.
___________4. Rectangles are Rhombi.
___________5. All Parallelograms are Squares.
___________6. Trapezium is a Parallelogram.
___________7. Trapezoid has a pair of opposite sides
congruent.
___________8. No quadrilateral has four sides.
___________9. All Quadrilateral are Rhombi.
__________10. All Squares are Parallelograms.
Properties of a Parallelogram
1.A pair of opposite sides are
congruent and parallel.
2.Consecutive angles are
supplementary.
3.Opposite angles are congruent.
4.Triangles formed by any diagonal
are congruent.
5.Diagonals bisect each other.
Activity 4
LET’S PRACTICE!
Direction: Write TRUE if the statement is correct;
otherwise, write FALSE.
_____1. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both
pairs of opposite sides are congruent.
_____2. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if both
pairs of opposite angles are supplementary.
_____3. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if any
two consecutive angles are complementary.
_____4. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if the
diagonals bisect each other.
_____5. A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if the
diagonals form two congruent triangles.

Activity 6
TEST YOURSELF!
REFLECTION NOTES
In this pandemic period there are lots of
conditions that we need to determine for
us to survive. We need to follow some
health protocols like social distancing,
wearing of face masks, frequently
washing of hands and live a healthy
lifestyle. Just like the quadrilaterals,
there are many conditions before we
can say that it is a parallelogram. As a
student, cite some ways on how to
promote healthy lifestyle in order to
survive in this pandemic. Write your
