This document analyzes the college admission process through flowcharts and identifies areas for improvement. It presents a macro flowchart showing the overall process and then three micro flowcharts analyzing specific problem areas in more depth. The document suggests solutions like scheduling interviews in decentralized locations and coordinating a centralized result and waitlist process across colleges. Key learnings include the importance of time management, scheduling coordination between schools, and improving results timing.
This flowchart gives a clear insight of BIMTECH Admission process and also identifies the trouble spots. The flowchart is presented both in Micro and Macro way.

2. AGENDA
• Introduction
• Macro flow chart
• Micro flow chart I
• Micro flow chart II
• Micro flow chart III
• Solutions
• Lesson learnt
3. INTRODUCTION
• We are analyzing the admission process of B-schools
in general
• Showing the admission process through a flow
chart
• We will then identify the troubled areas in the
process
• We have suggested the probable solution for
the identified troubling areas
• We will than provide the key learnings

5. Micro I
Solution: The problem faced in
the interview schedule
• Separate windows for
each colleges to conduct
interview and it should
not collide with other
windows
• Pre planning and
announcement of
respective interview dates
-- > Colleges like 6 IITs may
conduct common
interview like New IIMs
• Colleges could be clubbed
into different groups and
common interview can
happen for each group

6. Micro II
Solution: Interview Process
• Decentralized interviews
Interview center at more
number of cities less
travel time for the
candidates economically
viable for students who has
to spend on flight tickets
due to short notice
• MBA applicants are mostly
working professionals,
specially from IT industry.
Hence, taking leaves for
interviews is a major
challenge.
• Ex: IITs has centralized
interview process, which has
demerits of its own.(Except:
IIT Kharagpur and IIT
Madras.)

7. Micro III
Solution: Result Declaration
1. a) Ask preference of college
while filling Cat forms -->
centralized system to track the
confirmation of admission -->
removal of name from other
colleges once desired preference
is achieved.
b) Centralized one day process
after result declaration. ---> Let
interested students come under
common roof --> take the token
amount --> new waitlist of
interested candidates
2. Colleges should be in sync with
government policies --> OBC
certificates are valid for 1 year -->
If any special requirement, then
the same should be asked couple
of months in prior.

8. Key Learnings
• Decentralized venues will help candidates to save
their valuable time and resources. We learn how
we can save our resources.
• Time management in between various interviews
• Scheduling of interview process
• Coordination between all the B schools while
scheduling their process is very important and
best if they can under one umbrella.
• Now, Since CAT is just a two day window, the
result declaration should be faster. Hence, the
colleges may now collaborate in a better way.
