Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

Hello everyone! I am thrilled to present my latest portfolio on LinkedIn, marking the culmination of my architectural journey thus far. Over the span of five years, I've been fortunate to acquire a wealth of knowledge under the guidance of esteemed professors and industry mentors. From rigorous academic pursuits to practical engagements, each experience has contributed to my growth and refinement as an architecture student. This portfolio not only showcases my projects but also underscores my attention to detail and to innovative architecture as a profession.
1. Q7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt
in the progression from it to the full product?
Skills which have been improved…
My understanding of camera skills definitely developed through my preliminary task to my final
coursework piece. I learnt to pay extra attention to every detail in a shot including it being in focus
Out of Focus In Focus
In my preliminary task I practiced the use of Match on Action, which is a term I did not know before
doing my preliminary task. I used this technique a lot throught my film opening because I feel like it
gives the film that extra proffesional quality.
2. In my preliminary task I didn’t really think about colour grading and you can tell as in the first shot
the lighting is lighter however is darker in the following shot therefore in my film opening I colour
graded all the running shots so that each shot had the same tone to it.
Sound
I feel that my sound for my film opening worked really well and that the mixing fitted in well with
the atmosphere I was trying to create. I used a constant eerie sound underneath my entire opening
to set the feel of the scene and to keep the tense feeling throughout the entire opening. I used small
extra sound effect when characters moved or a shot type changed to add that extra suspense and I
really believe that my sound and understanding of Adobe Premier Pro very much improved after
comparing the sound used in my preliminary task and the sound used in my film opening.
In the future…
In the future I would like to take more care with choosing equipment to use and think about exactly
how I am going to shoot a scene because my camera work is a bit shaky throughout the first scene
so therefore I would have needed to tripod to steady the camera. Also I need to pay attention to
detail so that everything is consistent throughout my opening. For example I haven’t got the date or
flashing red dot in all the found footage scenes.
3. As there was a lot of found footage shots not much shot discipline or composition was used
therefore looking forward to my music video I feel I need to work on the way I compose each shot so
that it looks like a professional music video.
