Two major shifts:
- Education went from being scarce to being abundant
- Technology outpaced the ability of humans to learn
- Created a massive global skills gap
CEO's reporting skills as a top priority, and lack of skills as a top threat to business
- Most companies cannot yet inventory skills
- Market is beginning to respond to meet this need
- Market maturity is highest around lifelong learning; medium around skills measurement; and nascent around skills gap analysis (informing what skills a company needs)
Learning Portals – User Centric Gateway to Learning & KnowledgeLearningCafe
In the age of information glut, Learning Portals can provide Learners a way through the chaos to Learning and Knowledge that is useful and easier to access. However success stories are few and far between due to technology and design challenges. In many organisations the LMS is viewed as a Learning portal but not the one that provides the flexibility and user experience required.
With the Learning ecosystem becoming more complex and connected, Learner experience expectations are rising with an increase in the need to reduce costs.
Is it possible to implement a Learning portal that meets these requirements? We discuss with an experienced panel about the state of Learning portals and which way is it heading.
Date & Time : Thu, 29th June 2017, 12 – 1 pm Sydney Time
We Discuss
Should Learning Portals be the gateway for all learning and knowledge in the organisation?
What is user experience expected from a Learning Portal?
What are the benefits and drawbacks of using the LMS as a Learning Portal?
Can a Learning Portal be developed in the face of IT and policy restrictions?

How to kickstart your learner-centric strategyLaura Overton
How do you help people learn best? By putting them in charge. That’s the thesis of Laura Overton of Towards Maturity and Teresa Rose of E.On Group, who bring together research and experience to demonstrate that a learner-centric approach is not only desirable, it’s a necessity for successful learning at work.
96% of L&D leaders want to increase self-directed learning but we continue to struggle to connect and engage. It's time that L&D worked smarter, to stop blaming their staff for not engaging and to start listening instead.
This practical session will consider how true learning organisations put staff capability at the forefront of their thinking by placing staff at the heart of their strategy. When L&D provide staff with an active voice productivity and engagement flow. Join this interactive panel with Tesco and E.on to find out how to kick start a customer-centric strategy that delivers growth, profit and business transformation:
Challenge your assumptions about how staff really learn
Banish your organisation’s preconceptions about learning
Find out how listening more helps you achieve more
Inject vital evidence to win hearts and minds of managers
Crucial research on the learning voice
Over the years the systematic ADDIE process has proven successful in design and development of learning. However with the Agile approach growing in popularity, ADDIE is being perceived to be too “organised” and “slow” in today’s world of swift change and quick results. Moreover, evidence suggests that the push for Agile has made a relatively small dent on the popularity of ADDIE. Agile is radically different from ADDIE (waterfall approach) and hence demands a different skill and mind set.
In this online discussion we talk to a panel comprising of Agile specialists and Learning Designers.
Smart organizations are enabling their employees to learn everywhere – not just in the classroom – and they’re using technology to do it. Join us for a webinar that will highlight:
The three major structures for learning technology ecosystems and when one is more appropriate for your org.
A model for thinking through the types of technology available in the market.

Should L&D/HR be Architects of Lifelong Learning in the Workforce?LearningCafe
The Economist dedicated a January 2017 issue to Lifelong Learning, bringing to fore the need for everyone to be Lifelong Learners due to rapid changes in jobs and the skills required for them.
Lifelong Learning is here to stay. While individuals need to take responsibility to keep their capabilities up to date, organisations can support them by helping them create a mindset and skills for Lifelong Learning. L&D can be the architects by providing support and tools while being the advocate for Lifelong Learning.
In this webinar, we discuss if L&D currently advocates or has the mandate to support Lifelong Learning and how best they can achieve this.
Future of Learning - innovative new learning formats for accounting and finan...Tom Hood, CPA,CITP,CGMA
MACPA and the Business Learning Institute release the first nano-learning course for CPAs, accounting and finance professionals that meets the new CPE standards.
NASBA and the AICPA approved the revisions to the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards) effective September 1, 2016. Among the most significant changes to the Standards is the addition of two new instructional delivery methods: nano learning and blended learning.
The Maryland Association of CPAs and its Business Learning Institute believe that Learning is THE only competitive advantage in this rapidly changing world. They have been on the forefront of learning for the past ten years. Since passing nano-learning in 2015 at the Maryland State Board of Public Accounting, they have been integrating new formats of learning to make learning continuous, engaging and ultimately transformative. The Anticipatory Organization: Accounting and Finance Edition is THE First nano-learning program in North America for accounting and finance professionals. Winner of the Accounting Today 2016 Product of the Year in the learning category. This program combines nano learning format (three to four minute single concept videos) with rapid application exercises to accelerate learning of complex competencies in less times than traditional CPE / CPD programs.
MACPA and its Business Learning Institute have pioneered new methods of learning including second life (CPA Island), remote collaboration via the ThinkTank platform, participation engagement via conferences.io and their #MBSN Management by Sticky Notes collaboration process.
Here are five ways we are changing up learning:
Social;
Mobile / nano, or “Just When You Need It” learning;
Cloud: In what we call the four Cs of talent development, the AICPA Navigator allows us to offer Competencies, Career Path, and a Curriculum on a Cloud-based learning platform that allows firms and companies to move their talent development to a strategic and systematic approach;
Collaborative: MBSN (Management By Sticky Notes), Conferences.io, and the ThinkTank Collaboration platform are highly engaging ways of increasing learning through involvement (see our post on LinkedIn);
Competency-based learning: With our Bounce framework (which maps BLI programs to the new CGMA Competency framework) and our new program to develop a special self-directed action learning program to build a competency around anticipation and strategic thinking.
Skillsoft’s Global Leader Forum is an exclusive group of customers who have proven strategies of success around Engagement, Alignment, Adoption and Value – the Four Building Blocks of Learning and Talent Success. As part of the Forum, these clients regularly collaborate with other leading organizations and to share best practices, resources and tips within the new Client Community portal. They are also invited to participate quarterly in short research efforts around key topics that are of interest to the Skillsoft and industry-wide learning and talent communities.
Our 2016 Spring research topic was dedicated to the challenges and opportunities of building a successful and strategic learning culture. Our leaders shared their definition of a true learning culture, who is the owner of an organization’s learning culture, as well as what barriers stand in the way of a strong learning culture. Lastly, and most importantly, we learned what business outcomes they have seen positively impacted by having a strong learning culture.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

4. Role of the Global Coordinator
The Global Coordinator role was implemented for the first time 17 years ago in PwC by Keith Bell, one of the
earliest AIESEC Champions in the firm. It started as a personal assistant position to help him handle the
AIESEC partnership, but over the years it has gained a lot of independence and functions as a role.
Currently the Global Coordinator works as part of the Global Human Capital team and reports to Karel De
Baere, CEO at PwC Belgium, and is based in Brussels.
The main role of the coordinator is to build, manage and maintain the partnership between AIESEC and PwC
on the global level. The coordinator needs to synthesise the views and expectations of the most important
stakeholders, from partnership champions and supporters, to interns and alumni within PwC, as well as
AIESEC as an organisation.
Every year a new AIESEC member is
selected to run this role, therefore we
would like to show our appreciation to the

A partner that assisted us in a moment of need
"PwC has always supported AIESEC Kenya, and this year especially has been invaluable support. PwC
was our Gold Sponsor for our Career Fair , taking a stand within the University of Nairobi and
conducting a workshop to train the students in their search for future jobs.
James Maitho, Head of HR at PwC Kenya is part of our Board of Advisors and coaches the national
team of AIESEC in Kenya.
Especially this year, in September 2011 PwC was one of the companies that stood when we lived the
dramatic accident of the bus going to Mombasa. The invaluable support of PwC and especially with the
assistance of Nancy Onyango, a Partner in PwC Kenya in this moment of need was a blessing for us.
The year end was a grand finale for AIESEC Kenya, and we were honoured to receive the first edition
award from PwC together with AIESEC Alumni International for the entity that has the best alumni
management across the AIESEC global network. This has served as a motivation to AIESEC Kenya to
contribute more to the development of the youth of this country and continue carrying out activities for
