PUBERTY
• Puberty is a period from which our body changes from
a child to an adult.
• This happens because our body wants to prepare itself
to be able to have a baby.
WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?
• Puberty starts when extra amounts of chemicals called hormones
start to be produced in the body.
• The body produces the sex hormones estrogen, progestogen and
testosterone which are responsible for many different changes in
the body.
• The brain and pituitary gland release the sex hormones that
regulate the reproductive organs.
• The reason boys have a reproductive system is because it
provides the sperm needed to fertilize a female’s egg, which can
then develop into a baby.
• During puberty the levels of the hormone testosterone in your
body begin to rise. This causes the penis and testicles to get
bigger and the testicles to produce sperm.
• The testicles cannot make sperm before puberty.
• Sperm look like tadpoles, with what appear to be a head and a
tail.
MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
• The male body mainly produces testosterone which
start the changes of puberty.
• Usually stars between 10-15 years.
• Appearance of pubic, facial, and body hair
• Deepening of the voice
• Roughening of the skin around the upper arms and thighs
• Increased development of the sweat glands
• Muscles get bigger
• Acne (pimples)
• Penis and testicles grow larger
• Growth spurt
• Mood swings
• Erection and ejaculation
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IT?
• Take bath everyday after exercise or other physical activities
• Use deodorants
• Wash face regularly
• Brush your teeth and floss twice daily
• Shaving your hair using razor
• Choose comfortable underwear
• Proper exercises as your muscles are growing now
• Healthy food
CONSENT (GOOD TOUCH/ BAD TOUCH)
• Consent is when someone agrees to something or gives
permission for something to happen.
• A good touch makes you feel warm, happy and comfortable.
• A bad touch makes you feel sad, angry, uncomfortable, uneasy, etc.
