RESEARCH PROPOSAL
INDIVIDUAL
1. Hypothesis
When a person looks more appealing (attractive), they will receive more phone
numbers than unappealing people.
Whereas in terms of gender;the girl will receive more numbers than the boy.
2. Quantitative & Qualitative
-Quantitative:A question will be asked whether the person would like to give their
phone numbers or not, a yes or no question which will be determined by the way our
group members look. Data will be collected for the number of people accepting to
give their numbers & will then be translated & organized in tables, charts, graphs, etc.
– Qualitative: The people would be asked by our group members who is shown to be
either attractive or unattractive by the way they dress

3. Structure/Procedure
On the first day, people among the
group, a male & female member will
dress up attractively, with make-up, a
suit, etc.
To prevent any suspicion that we are
secretly holding a test, the test for
unattractive male & female is on
another day; members would dress up
in an unattractive manner & prevent
use of make-up.
The test would be conducted to private places for personal
conversations such as the student life center, the library, or the
Starbucks café so that there would be a variety of people to be
asked for numbers & people wouldn’t be suspicious or wouldn’t
think we are harassing them.
The test must not be conducted when people are walking by, as
they might be very busy, the test should be involving people who
are sitting or resting.
To the opposite gender for each individual, a
group member will walk up to them & ask for
a phone number. The people who are asked
must not be in any way acquainted to us.

While watching the scene from afar, other
group members would collect the data in tally
whether the person gives the phone number or
not
To ensure there wouldn’t be any insecurities or disputes in the
near future, after they answered whether the person gives the
phone number or not, they would be told that a psychology test is
held & if they gave their numbers, it would be deleted from our
phones.
The data taken from the two separate days for
attractive & unattractive genders, which was
taken in tally form, would then be translated
into tables, charts, graphs, etc.
The data would also be translated to
Descriptive Stats: Mean & Mode. It
would also be turned into tables,
charts, graphs, etc.
The information taken
would finally be put into the
group report.

4. Ethnics Considerations
- The test would not be conducted to people walking by, instead, would be to
people who are sitting or resting as the people walking around the place might
be too busy.
- People would be asked politely, not in a vulgar, provoking or harassing way.
- The test would eventually be exposed to the participants to prevent any
disputes or insecurities that they have given their phone numbers to strangers,
hence it would be deleted from our phones
