The document discusses the psychology of color and how different colors can affect moods, emotions, and behaviors. It provides information on the cultural meanings and symbolism associated with common colors like red, pink, yellow, white, blue, green, and black in both Western and Eastern cultures. The text also summarizes research on how colors can influence mood, appetite, and learning. For example, warm colors like red and orange may stimulate appetite while blue can suppress it. In educational settings, bright colors are generally good for young children while cooler tones enhance focus for older students. The document concludes that color psychology is an important factor in many areas of design and marketing.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

12. HOW COULD COLORS AFFECT OUT APPETITE AND
EATING HABITS?
Scientists agree that color has a significant
impact on how appealing or unappealing a
food is to you. Just seeing food causes all sorts
of reactions in your body. Neurons in a part of
your brain called the hypothalamus, which
regulates appetite, start firing up. The mere
sight of food causes glands in your mouth to
start increasing saliva production in
preparation for eating.
HOW COLORS AFFECT OUR APPETITE…
(Ruba Alhabib)
BLUE …
• color blue suppresses your appetite
because there aren't many naturally-
occurring blue-hued foods. Research
has found that when foods were dyed
blue, people found them much less
appealing even if the food tasted good.
It's even been suggested that you put a
blue light in your fridge to discourage
you from reaching in for more food.
• What happen when M&m’s added blue color to its
candy bag ??
13. RED …
• studies find the result and have shown that red is actually an appetite-
stimulating color. In fact, people find red-colored foods to be the most
appealing overall. Red activates your appetite so much that it's often used in
restaurant logos, on menus, and on tablecloths and napkins.
WHITE …
• White foods are often associated with excessive consumption, especially when it
comes to snacks. You tend to forget that white foods contain calories and this
leads to mindless eating. White foods and foods eaten from white dishware are
also less satisfying.
14. GREEN …
• People tend to think that all green foods are healthy, regardless of if the food
itself really is nutritious or not. This habit may be traced back to our ancestors'
eating habits. Green foods were often viewed as being safe and weren't likely to
be poisonous or lethal.
YELLOW …
• The color yellow has also been found to stimulate your appetite because yellow
is associated with happiness. Your brain actually secretes more serotonin, a
feel-good hormone, when you see yellow. This is why you may have noticed
that many restaurants have yellow flowers on the table because yellow makes
you feel optimistic and the more optimistic you feel, the more likely you are to
splurge on your meal. Similarly to yellow, foods that are orange often elicit
feelings of warmth and comfort.
15. DESIGNING EFFECTIVE COLOR SYSTEMS FOR LOGOS &
BRANDS (SARA ALMUGBIL)
Psychology of RED : BOLD | Passion | Strength | Attention | Love |
Action
Notable : Red works on White & Black. Can mean stop, danger and
hot. Pinks (tents of reds) are generally considered feminine colors.
Psychology of YELLOW : Logical | Optimistic | Progressive |
Confident | Playful | Creative
Notable : Yellow is too bright to stand on its own & will require a
secondary background or bordering color. Universal caution color.
Represents clarity.
16. DESIGNING EFFECTIVE COLOR SYSTEMS FOR LOGOS &
BRANDS
Psychology of BLUE : Trusted | Conservative | Staid | Dependable
| Honesty | Calm | Secure | Cool
Notable : Blue most poplar corporate color. Evokes trust so used
frequently for online businesses & financial institutions.
Psychology of GREEN : Nature | Wealth | Fresh | Life | Harmony |
Environment | Growth
Notable : Green mean “GO”. Used frequently to represent eco-
friendly companies & products. Thought to be a calming color.
17. DESIGNING EFFECTIVE COLOR SYSTEMS FOR LOGOS &
BRANDS
Psychology of ORANGE : Happy | Energetic | Sociable | Friendly |
Affordable | Sunny
Notable : Orange is thought to stimulate appetite. Orange is used
in some warning labels. Used frequently in retail. Often used a
“call to action”.
Psychology of PURPLE : Royalty | Mystery | Pomp | Ceremony |
Creative | Unique | Majesty
Notable : Purple is once the most expensive color to reproduce,
thus often viewed as “elitist” Appeals to children & often used in
toys and candy packaging.
18. • Blue-Blue enhances creativity and stimulates a cool and relaxing environment. It should not be
used in excess as it can also depress or invoke feelings of sorrow.
• Red– Red is the color of passion and strong feelings of threat, love, or excess stimulus. In school
rooms it can be used in combination with other colors as it can help in detail oriented or repetitive
tasks.
• Yellow– This is indeed the color of happiness and sunshine for children. Yellow stimulates
intelligence and is ideal for use in kids’ rooms, study rooms and play areas. It should not be
overdone as it can make children feel stressed.
• Green-The color of abundance can relax and contribute to better health in kids.
• Pink-This is a calming color. It can lower heart rate.
• Purple-This color ideal for kids as it is attention grabbing.
• Orange– Many educational institutes use this color as it enhances critical thinking and memory.
Test rooms in this color are known to enhance performance in exams.
PSYCHOLOGICAL AFFECT IN DESIGNING CHILDREN SCHOOL
Studies shows how different COLORS can impact learning and memory in kids:
19. choosing colors based on age of kids especially for Academic environments
• Pre-school and elementary school-Warm and bright color schemes are ideal.
• Upper grade and secondary-Cool colors are recommended to enhance concentration
• Hallways– Wide range of colors can be sued to impart distinctive personality.
• Libraries-These do well with cool green or pale/light green for enhancing quietness and concentration.
• Children, like adults, are very aware of color. Color psychologists have linked color with brain development,
decreased absenteeism, enhanced productivity and even transition from childhood to adulthood. Naturally, one
needs to take a more academic and research oriented approach in the aspect of color psychology in children rather
than simply providing colorful environments through decoration, school signs and paint availability.

Guidelines for educational institutes
20. CONCLUSION
• Color is consistently used in an attempt to make people hungry, associate a positive or negative tone,
encourage trust, feelings of calmness or energy, and countless other ways.
