Essay about The Wide World of Tea
The Wide World of Tea
Introduction
Consumed as a beverage for the past two to three thousand years in southeast China, tea has an
extensive past (Eden 1). The first Chinese tea leaves were believed to be brewed in open pans,
however during the Ming Dynasty (1368 1644 AD) it was discovered steeping the leaves in hot
water produced the most flavorful drink (Tillberg). Since the heat of the water was an essential
component to producing a desirable beverage, a lidded vessel was created to contain the heat
during the steeping process. This vessel evolved into the teapot most of us are familiar with today.
The cultivation of tea plants is believed to have originated in China, but it soon spread to other
areas of Asia. Green tea was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a many stemmed bush that only reaches heights around 2.75 meters high, yet it has a long
economic life. The reason for this is that this variety continuously sends up fresh stems so the
plants can grow to at least 100 years old and still produce good quality yields of leaves. When this
variety is grown at a higher altitude, like Darjeeling, it produces tea with a coveted, valuable flavor
(Harler 2 3).
The second variety, Assam, is a single stemmed tree that can reach heights of twenty to sixty feet
in height. It is found in northeast India and has an economic life of approximately forty years
with regular plucking and pruning. This variety has five main subcategories; Manipuri, Lushai,
Burma, light leaf Assam, and finally dark leaf Assam. The dark leaf Assam is highly prized for the
fine quality golden tip teas it produces (Harler 3).
The final variety, the Cambodian variety is also known as the Indo China variety. It is not currently
cultivated on any tea plantations, but rather naturally crossed with other varieties to produce
particular characteristics in a tea plant. It is a single stemmed tree that reaches heights around
sixteen feet high and has leaves that are folded in a V shape, a characteristic unique to this variety
(Harler 3).
Preparing the Leaves
These three varieties of the tea plant are not to be confused with the three preparations of tea
leaves; green, oolong, and

How Did The Great Leap Forward And The Cultural Revolution
The research engages with the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, two significant
and defining events in Chinese history since the establishment of the People s Republic of China.
The Great Leap Forward (1957 60) was a Chinese economic plan initiated by Mao Zedong aimed at
revitalizing all sectors of the economy. Wildly unrealistic planning poorly planned communization
of agriculture, and a poor harvest in 1959 caused mass starvation. Mao was forced to turn
government administration over to Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. His popularity diminished
severely and thus launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolutionto regain his popularity.
The Cultural Revolution (1966 76) was the mass mobilization of urban Chinese youth inaugurated
by Mao Zedong in an attempt to prevent the development of a bureaucratized Soviet style of
Communism. Mao closed schools and encouraged students to join Red Guard units, which ... Show

democracy. This coupled with the copious allowance for free speech, in the Chinese regard, during
the Cultural Revolution and its devastating aftermath which remained potent in the lives of many
individuals lead many Chinese to lose faith in their government altogether. This loss of faith and
potency of unsavoury memories may have pushed many Chinese to look towards a better political
and social systemп‚ѕa democratic one. Chinese society was avidly propagandistic. The aim to
maintain a strong communist hold on Chinese society through press and censorship reform had the
opposite effect, even subsequently having to be crushed. Thus the events of the Great Leap
Forward and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution can be regarded as considerable forces that
influenced the Tiananmen Movement and thus its consequent

The Positive And Negative Cons Of Credit Cards
For many years, there has been an ongoing debate whether using credit cards is a positive or a
negative idea. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across
the globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are
traveling out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local
currency, your credit cardcompany calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts
the correct charges to your account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency
situations where you find yourself in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that
you had not budgeted for and may not have the money readily available. These unforeseen
expenditures can then be worked into a monthly budget and be paid off in a series of monthly
installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large purchase with a credit card and promptly
making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied, could improve your credit score
which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise (Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit
card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for. Such as, being eligible to receive a
percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline frequent flyer miles for each
dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts on daily purchases
(Vanderpool). Credit cards also allow for convenience. Having a credit card

Challenges Of Being A Law Enforcement Officer
Hi, Billy, what you discussed made me think about the challenges that Law Enforcement
Officers are facing as far as recruiting, and retention have its completion. There are a growing
number of private armed security companies that s provided jobs to individuals who may qualify
as a law enforcement officer. The standards are so high that judgmental prosecution question a
unique ability for a person who provides safety to the public. It makes you wonder if security
companies are performing a federal background check. This individual qualifies for a state license
to carry a firearm, but due to their health, weight, education, age, history, moral ethics, and oral
interview may disqualify them as law enforcement officers. Look around some of the

The Symbolism Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula appears to be a novel predicated upon a racist worldview. 1897, its
publication year, was marked by anxieties resulting from the decline of the British Empire from its
previous position of hegemony. The increasing unrest in British colonies endangered British
imperialism, race, and its cultural conventions, rendering society susceptible to the fear of reverse
colonization: the infiltration and influence of former territories. Dracula, travelling to England from
Romania, is employed to symbolise this threat. Arata s most thought provoking note is that
vampires as an entity are generated by racial enervation and the decline of empire. Thus, by
utilizing a foreign vampireas the antagonist of his work, Stoker exploits... Show more content on

A pertinent instant being the sisters first appearance: two [of the sisters] were dark, and had high
aquiline noses, like the Count. In this line, the dark sisters are analogous to Dracula, assumedly of
the same ethnic origin. Yet, the other was fair [...] with [...] golden hair and eyes like pale
sapphires, evidently not of the same ethnicity. Thus it is interesting that she is described in more
favourable terms than the darker, golden hair and eyes like sapphires are reminiscent of wealth and
western beauty. Contrast this with the red, piercing eyes of the other sisters, which oppose the
softer, safer image of the fairer. The passage is narrated by Jonathan Harker, whose first person
perspective is influenced by his ethnicity; he sees the sisters through the lens of anxieties plaguing
the Victorian British. Hence the distress concerning reverse colonization is palpable, Stoker
presents through Harker the ease surrounding those of Western origin, and the discomfort towards
outsiders.
Stoker s distinction between races is progressively evident in the attack of Harker: the other two
urged her [the fair sister] on. One said: Go on! You are first, [...] yours is the right to begin. That the
most Western of the three has the right exemplifies British imperialism. Being westernised
inherently lends greater power, presenting the western supremacist perspective that predicated
Dracula. Dracula, particularly the slaying of the Count, is in line with other characteristic
nineteenth century works that seek to justify British

Pak Muhamad Sukma s Going Home
According to Pak Muhamad Sukma, the author of Going Home believes that education is more
than having a high paying job. It is taking the knowledge you have acquired and trying to make a
change out of it. Sukma used to think that education is the training needed to get a high paying job.
Then a protest occurred in his country, this occurrence allowed him to be awaken with new found
knowledge. The protests were about the price increase and an economic crisis, ever since that it has
expanded his relatively simplistic view of the world. Leading him to understand that educationcan
play a major role in society, even if it has a small difference. I agree with Sukma s statement about
education because education is more than the amount of money... Show more content on

In the 10th grade I saw Spike Lee s biopic of Malcolm X. From that movie, I learned that
Malcolm X was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always
like that. Before he became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all
changed when he went to prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge,
which led him to understand there are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the
population of African Americans understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them.
Malcolm X believed that people should be treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their
counterparts. This influenced people to be more aware of their environment and protest on the
problems they face. Eventually, this movement made the government guarantee that African
Americans should be given the most fundamental rights. Similar to the protest that Sukma
encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged because Malcolm X used his
education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree, moreover, the protest allowed
people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger cause. Education allows
people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the issues they face. This
connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social

How Groups Can Develop And Function Systemically
Introduction
At first glance, one would assume that this book would be like other books that were designed to
repair work group issues either overly opinionated or disassociated with real world relevance s.
Creating effective teams was anything like the books I have read in the past, as a matter of fact,
the first six chapters was awe inspiring and thought provoking. The author gracefully transitions
each chapter beautiful, Chapter one set the tone for the other chapters by asking Why Groups ; the
methodology behind that forced the readers to think outside of the boxes not to mention it
smoothly transition to five other supportive Chapters. Chapter two described different ways
wherein larger organization could potentially aid groups to become more successful, whereas
Chapter three discusses how groups can develop and function systemically, while Chapter four
visibly frameworks the characteristics of productive teams; Chapter five and six diplomatically
define the characteristics of effective members and effective leaders, respectively.
Wheelan made it a point to transition each chapter effortlessly, whereas other authors would had
been reserved Wheelan didn t hold back any she provided intuitive information that depicted both
positive outcomes and negative outcomes. After reading through chapter six, I have to be honest
there were many intriguing information presented throughout the editorial however; from what I

Ancient Greeks And The Ancient Romans
The Romans had one of the most innovative and influential ancient civilizations. Although
arguments can be made for the Ancient Greeks and the Ancient Egyptians, it can be seen that the
modern world had adopted many of the values and ideas of the Ancient Romans. The achievements,
ideas, and values of the Ancient Romans have had a lasting impact on the modern world. The
majority of people don t know that many of the things they take for granted came from Ancient
Rome.
Architecture
One of the things the Romans had multiple achievements in that have left a lasting impact on the
world is there innovation of architecture. A major, lasting example of Roman architecture is the
Roman Colosseum. The Colosseum was used for all kinds of things in ancient Rome including
battle re enactments, dramas, executions, and most famous of all, it is the place where the
gladiators fought. The unique design of the Colosseum was not like other structures built at this
time. A major difference it had from any theater or other event for public viewing was the audience
was seated all around the event. The idea of seating the audience all around the event with the event
at the bottom in the center became the basis for the modern sports stadium. All stadiums of the
modern era are based on the same concept of the Colosseum; so the Colosseum was essentially the
first stadium. Another architectural achievement that left a lasting impact on the world today is the
Roman Arch. The arch is seen in many

Southeast Asian Identity
Question 3: SEA is a region without an identity . Discuss this statement with reference to at least 3
examples.
Making a check with Oxford Dictionary; Southeast Asia is defined as the part of south eastern
Asia that includes the countries of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma (Myanmar), the
Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. A region refers to an area, especially part of a
country or the world having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries, and an
identity refers to a close similarity or affinity (Oxford University Press n.d.). Now, if we relook at
the definition of each word in the sentence, SEA is a region without an identity, you do see a
certain paradox. The phrase SEA is a region ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

neighbouring countries could be separated by mountains and yet, the Mekong River collectively
flows across and joins Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and China s Yunnan
Province (Jonsson 2008). As such, these countries share certain relations and ties in order to
provide security and to enhance trade along the river so that they may prosper. Furthermore, studies
provide evidences that Southeast Asia today displays more homogeneity and convergence than
ever before (Acharya 2000) due to the increasing integration and globalisation processes and the
increasing socioeconomic disparities in society. The term unity in diversity could also be used to
overcome the disparities in culture or practices in between countries and create a more coherent
region in terms of social, economic or political stability which then in turn aids in integration
within a region and form a regional identity as of the case study of the European Union (EU)
(Hellstrom 2003).
However, one must remember that the integration of the EU has come a long way as compared to
Southeast Asia and that the differences in culture,

Soldiers Home Ernest Hemingway Essay
Signs of the PTSR in the Soldier s Home by Ernest Hemingway
The Soldier s Home is a short story written by Ernest Hemingway. Its plot focuses on Harold
Krebs, a young man, who returned to his home in Oklahoma after two years participation in the
World War I. This experience affected Harold and disturbed his full integration into the civil life.
The end of the story shows signs of improvement in Krebs s condition, as the man finally decides
to find a job. But this changes are shallow the character stayed withdrawal and did not
demonstrate a strong wish to participate in common activities of the civil life. It is possible to
suggest the man suffered from the Post traumatic stress disorder caused by the war. While Harold
s behavior did not correspond fully to the aspect of this disease, Hemingway s description of his
actions and attitude includes some symptoms of the PTSD.
This complex disorder causes a wide arrange of symptoms, which are broken down into different
categories. Harold did not demonstrate any of the active signs of the PTSD: the man was not
aggressive; he did not have hallucinations, nightmares or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some of them were caused by a necessity to lie and exaggerate to make people listen him
(Hemingway 1). Evidences of the man s negative thoughts appeared in the scene, where Krebs
read the book: He had been a good soldier (Hemingway 3). It looked like the character thought
differently about his war experience, and it was the text that helped to change his point of view.
It is impossible to claim Krebs was totally hopeless about his future: it looked like the man just
did not start to think about this issue. But it is obvious the character did not care too much about
his future life: he would gladly continue to maintain his passive daily regimen, if it was not for his
parents criticism. So, while Krebs did not give up completely, he was not reliant on his future life

Texting And Driving Is Wrong
Texting and driving is something that causes many accidents on the roads. Everyone knows that
texting and driving is wrong and could cause an accident. Since that texting and driving is a
potentially dangerous behavior, that every single driver behind the wheel knows, but does I
anyways because of the deviant behavior and mindset towards texting and driving. When you
text and drive you are knowingly taking a risk of an accident because of how texting distracts a
person from driving properly. Texting and driving is when you use your phone while operating
a motor vehicle. When making this choice to do this, drivers often: drift off to the sides of
roads, run stop signals, run into another car, etc. Using your phone any kind of way is distracting
because you are taking your eyes off the road, and into a screen. Even though the time it takes to
text is really small, that s all it takes to causing a car accident. These behaviors are starting to get
embedded in our social norms (Seiler).Texting and driving is growing more common because of
the popularity of the use a cell phone and texting. A reason why texting and driving is growing
more popular is because of the risk of getting caught texting and driving. A lot people never get
caught by the police texting and driving because of how easy and quick it is to do and stop doing.
Since it is so easy to do and lack of getting caught without consequences makes you more likely to
keep doing it (Seiler). Another reason why texting

your friend begins non stop complaining of lower abdominal pain, chills, fever, and a little

has to be, without a reasonable doubt, appendicitis. Appendicitis is a serious medical condition in
which the appendix becomes inflamed and painful; if ruptured, it can actually be quite fatal.
After receiving all of the information you needed, you come to the resolution that there s no
time for you to take your friend to the hospital, so you re going to do it yourself. After more
questionable searching on the dark web, and a little memorization of steps; you prepare your
materials. The list of items goes as follows: A kitchen knife (maybe a scalpel, if you re fancy), a
sharpie, lots towels, some liquor, roofies (if you don t know where to obtain them, they may be
substituted with hard liquor), some rope, some gloves, a mason jar, and a sewing needle/needles,

Essay about Doubting Thomas
Doubting Thomas
According to Webster, Skepticism is the philosophical doctrine that the attainment of absolute
knowledge is impossible. It comes from the Greek word skeptesthai meaning to examine, and the
practice was brought about during the elementary stages of philosophy by Pyrrho sometime
between 360 270 b.c. Some other well known skeptics are Xenophanes, Gorgias, and Sextus
Empiricus. Skepticism is very common in today s society, and is practiced in some way by all. If
you are alive and functioning on this planet, you ll find that it is difficult to avoid being skeptic in
one way or another.96 Pyrrho was an ancient Greek philosopher, who introduced pure skepticism

Such skepticism was useful during Pyrrho s time; if nothing was provably wrong, one could
legitimately accept the customs or religion of whoever was in power. He also believed that each
theory had it s own contradictory argument, so he suspended judgment on all events.161 The
roots of skepticism are also believed to be accredited to Xenophanes, a philosopher and poet of
Asia Minor. He believed that if truth were stated. It could not be known In his writings
Xenophanes cleverly satirized the polytheistic beliefs of earlier Greek poets and of his own
contemporaries. He ridiculed their deities as gods created in the image of the mortals who
worshiped them. In a famous passage he asserted that if oxen could paint and sculpt, they would
depict gods who resembled oxen. He felt that humans should reject polytheistic ascribing of human
motivation and characteristics to inanimate objects, animals, and phenomena and recognize instead
a single non human deity underlying and unifying all worldly phenomena. 117 A parallel to
Xenophanes philosophy is that which was expressed by Gorgias, a famous Sophist. The Sophists
consisted of experienced debaters and speech writers who popularized the ideas of various early
philosophers; but based on their understanding of this prior philosophic thought, most of them
concluded that truth and morality were

Wright Brothers Where they are from Orville Wright was born on August 19, 1871 and died on

older than Orville, was outgoing. He excelled at writing and public speaking. He loved to read.
Both Wilbur and Orville liked to tinker as children. When they had questions about anything

Gadamer’s On the Natural Inclination of Human Beings...
Gadamer s On the Natural Inclination of Human Beings Toward Philosophy follows an idea that a
desire for knowledge, in researching philosophy and sciences, can be related to Plato s thaumazein,
the idea of wonder. The specifically human function of thinking starts, not routinely or in
merriment, but at ...a point where something strikes us as alien because it runs counter to habitual
expectation. (Gadamer 143) The fascination and wonderment towards ideas Gadamer claims,

Our inclination stems from our need to fulfill that wonder, and in fact becomes much more of an
important subject because of the growing need for instant gratification. He does call into
question whether or not the definition of philosophy is the same as that of past philosophers. He
is point of whether ...there (is) still time for leisure and for leisurely speculation about the
insoluble questions... (139) does resonate more now than when written in 1979. It s amazing to
see how well he predicted our growing dependency on technology when not much was to be
known about how one lives in today s technology, instant gratification, gimme gimme society. The
overall idea of what philosophy is in itself a Greek idea. However, he strives to claim that even
though the old idea for philosophy does not answer the current idea, it is still prevalent in different
forms. As he explains, Plato s definition states the well known Greek idea that the meaning is the
...incessant though constantly unfulfilled striving after truth, whereas knowing is for the gods.
(141) Being that Western ideas now take a different path of science, and that definition being
Platonic, Gadamer gives a more contemporary definition. This is the most important thing in human
understanding, to genuinely experience and grasp for knowledge Gadamer emphasizes that being

Case Analysis Of Crispy Bacon, Inc. ( Cb )
Crispy Bacon, Inc. (CB) is a public company that provides pork products to various markets in the
United States. CB has three major inventory categories live hogs, developing animals, and
processed pork products. Currently, CB is trying to determine whether an inventory impairment
exists according to US GAAP because of a decline in future prices. Although prices are declining, it
is likely within the fiscal yearprices will recover. The question of inventoryimpairment only relates
to live hogs and developing animals sold to third parties. It is believed that live hogs and

Issue 2: More specifically, how should management evaluate impairment?
(a) Should inventory be evaluated for impairment under the lower of cost or market method on a
total inventory basis?
The applicable guidance regarding inventory impairment as it pertains to evaluation on a total
inventory basis is included as follows:
ASC 330 10 35 8
Depending on the character and composition of the inventory (..) the inventory being measured
may properly be applied (..) to the total of the inventory (..)
ASC 330 10 35 10
(..) When no loss of income is expected to take place as a result of a reduction of cost prices of
certain goods because others forming components of the same general categories of finished
products have a market value (..) or net realizable value (..) equally in excess of cost (..) the
guidance on subsequent measurement may be applied directly to the totals of the entire inventory
As ASC 330 10 25 8 states, inventory can be measured in totality based on the nature of the
inventory. Furthermore, ASC 330 10 25 10 states that in a situation where no loss of income is
expected because certain goods within the same category have value in excess of costs, then any
subsequent evaluation of value can be applied to the entire inventory. The scope of ASC 330 does
not exclude CB, so this guidance can be applied.

he discovers himself. Similar to this book, Braaksma seems to be discovering himself as well and

Alcoholism In James Joyce s Dubliners
In Dubliners by James Joyce, there is a common theme of alcoholism that occurs many times in
this collection of stories. Hardly any of these stories fail to mention the presence and influence of
alcohol. In some of these stories, Joyce puts the focus on the short term consequences of excessive
night drinking, This leads to abusing others and self inflicted pain. In other stories, the focus is on
the effects of a strong addiction that would eventually lead the character(s) to an early trip to the

Comparing The Trojan War In The Odyssey And The Iliad By...
The Trojan War took place in Troy around 1260 1180 B.C. The war was between the city of Troy
by the Greeks. This war took place because Helen of Troy was kidnapped from her husband,
Menelaus. The Trojan War is one of the most important wars in Greek Mythology. It has been told
and translated through many languages. Most commonly told through The Odyssey and The Iliadby
Homer. Achillesis the main hero, who sided with Troy. He had been dipped in the River Styx by
his ankles, so that every part of him, except his ankles were invisible. This is inevitable to his
downfall. The Iliad told most of the story of The Trojan Warin four days. The Odyssey shows the
long journey home of Odysseus, one of the war heroes. When Helen was kidnapped, Menelaus...

After the horse and most building surrounding were ablaze, the Greeks went on a murderous
rampage, sparing only some women and children to save or sell into slavery. There were many
Gods that were involved in this war. Many took place as a spectator, while others like Poseidon,
Athena, and Hera aided the Greeks. Ares and Aphrodite favored the Trojans. Zeus and Apollo
were neutral. They both helped each side equally, because they found this war to be
entertaining. Most of the Gods, however, had been extremely angry, due to the fact that the
Greeks had wrecked the temples and burned them too the ground. The Gods decided that most of
the Greeks wouldn t make it back to shore once they took sail back into the ocean. A vicious
storm had hit the returning fleet of Greeks off of Tenos Island. Most of these soldiers had been
shipwrecked. Instead of trying to travel back home, they banded together and founded brand new
colonies in the name of Greece. Meanwhile, Homer, the author of the epic poems that described all
of these sets of battles and wars, had become rich. He had originally told these stories orally, then

The, By Vilhelm Moberg
Willie, a mere boy, swelled with superiority as he contemplated the hilarity of those silly old
folks, fooled by an owl and believing in ghosts.4 The belief in the Sinkhole spöke possibly lived
on beyond the sighting of the owl, as old timers recalled stories of jötunn, the ancient Norse race
of giants, with their powers of shape changing and their inclination for trickery. If they could
change into wolves, as they did in the Norse tales, they certainly could transform into an owl.5 In
his two volume history of the Swedish people, the eminent writer Vilhelm Moberg, relates that
during his childhood in SmГҐland, an isolated and backward province, he met elders that not only
believed in fairies, but actually saw them.6 Willie probably encountered similar mind sets, since
his birth occurred seven year prior to Vilhelm Moberg s and numerous people from SmГҐland
immigrated to east central Minnesota.7 Willie normally concluded the telling of the Sinkhole
spöke tale with a prideful proclamation, My generation was the first modern generation. My
generation was the first not to believe in that stuff. 8 Egged on by the allure of the Sinkhole spöke
tales and not willing to be a passive bystander, Willie stepped into the scene alongside the spöke
and attempted to harass and frighten the gullible adults. After capturing fireflies and coated his
thumbnails with their natural luminescent substance, he lurked on the edge of the Sinkhole road
waiting for unsuspecting travelers.

Welcome to the Jungle
In the award winning original movie, Jumanji starring Robin Williams plays Alan Parrish who
along with a friend gets stuck in the game for 26 years. When two kids find this game after
moving into the mansion years later and play, Alan is freed, but the only way to end the game is
to find the girl he once played with. Along the way while trapped in the jungle, Alan left clues as a
way for other players to protect themselves if ever trapped. Adding to Robin Williamslegacy years
later, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle which is set to release in December; four high school
students are pulled into the game and are set as their avatars to find their way out. The trailer for
the upcoming action/comedy film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is successful in engrossing the
viewers by the use of music to bring the comedical sense of the movie together and uses different
camera angles with fast paced cuts to show how the environment plays a crucial role in the game of
Jumanji.
In the first few seconds of the trailer, the editors immediately make use of fast paced camera cuts
and interesting angles from the characters avatars to the problems they face in the unexpected
environment like when they are falling into the jungle to give the audience a sense of adrenaline
that the movie brings about. The jungle is known as a place of isolation and that is exactly what the
characters have to learn to deal with when physically thrown into this unique situation. As seen in

Compromises That Lead to the Constitution
In the period between the drafting of the Constitution and the start of the Civil War, compromise
was a main part in the governing of the United States. The Constitution itself is often referred to as
a bundle of compromises and because of the effectiveness of these compromises it has been able to
withstand time and continue to be the main source of our government. Conflict arose even after the
Constitution and compromises were made to try to keep the Union together and decrease tensions
between the North and South. In this paper, I will discuss the compromises that made up the
Constitution as well as the compromises that were implemented leading up until the Civil War. The
drafting of the Constitution is compiled of great... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Missouri s population was composed of 16 percent slaves, it would be admitted as a slave
state therefore upsetting the balance in favor of the south. Northerners didn t like this because
Missouri was at the same latitude as the free states of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, and because of
this they feared that it would set a precedent for slave states coming more north. The north and
south continued to argue and argue over the issue of slavery. The north accused the south of
trying to extend the institution of slavery and the south said that the north was conspiring to
destroy the Union and end slavery. To resolve this crisis, congress passed a series of agreements
that became known as the Missouri Compromise, which smoothed over the crisis. In 1820,
Congress admitted Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state in order to balance the
number of free and slave states and to keep order between the north and south. Also, it prohibited
slavery in the remainder of the Louisiana Purchase north of the southern boundary of Missouri. This
compromise soon fell apart after it was passed. Missouri drafted its own Constitution saying that
free blacks were prohibited from entering their territory. Because of this provision, which was
against the federal Constitution stating that citizens of one state were entitled to the same rights as
citizens of other states, antislavery northerners

Sound Recording, Its History And Impact On Media In The 21st Century
On this essay I will try to show how Sound Recording impacts media in the 21st century. But in
order for me to do that I will need to explore the history of Sound Recording, which started in the
19th Century.
Before 1877 sound could be recorded but not played. That year Thomas Alva Edison invented the
talking tin foil, also known as the phonograph (voice writer), which enabled sound to be played
back (the first speech to be recorded and played back was the poem by Sarah Josepha Hale

waltzes, polkas, cakewalks, and so on. Yet the most famous leader of such a band, John Philip
Sousa, had doubts about the phonograph and publicly denounced recordings as inferior to live
music. Thus began a decades long campaign against recorded music, sponsored by a succession of
music critics, social theorists, and musicians.
As one of those social theorists has argued, the real significance of the early phonograph was that
it transformed the way people listened to music. Where once music was a unique, live
performance, experienced in a public place with a group, now it was heard privately in the home
and it was possible to hear the same performance over and over. According to this argument, the
listening experience was cheapened. Recording History.org(?)
Music was available almost anywhere, any time so people, in theory, would be exposed to a
wider selection of music, which, some people believed, would result in a social uplift process.
However in the United States and Europe most people kept buying popular music instead of what
reformers called good music. Good music started being advertised more heavily, by companies
like Victor, Columbia and Edison s, by offering a wider variety of good music in their catalogs.
Historians have also countered the argument that the phonograph degraded musical taste by noting

Computers Have Been Used For Thousands Of Years Essay
Computers have been in use for thousands of years. The concept began with the abacus which was
one of the first arithmetic inventions. Solving mathematic equations became easier and were
mainly used when counting money. Digital computers did not become available until sometime
during World War II. After this invention, the computer
continued to steadily advance. More
complicated programing was constantly being utilized in the computer and smaller versions
became readily available. However, not everything on a computer was used for good. With the
invention of the internet, hackers started to appear. Many things were created due to the invention
of the computer, most notably being companies like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. The definition
of a computer can vary depending on the time. The first time the word computer was used was in a
book named The Yong Mans Gleanings written by Richard Braithwait in 1613. In it he says, I haue
read the truest computer of Times, and the best Arithmetician that euer breathed, and he reduceth
thy dayes into a short number. (1). This term used here referred to someone that was skilled at math
and calculations. The term remained the same until sometime in the 20th century. Shortly after, it
took on the more modern term of a machine that solves computations, replacing the older term of,
One Who Calculates . The abacus, a primitive form of a computer, was invented by the Romans. It
was a device that was commonly used for counting money and

Evaluation Of A Student Outcomes
Part two: Summary of student outcomes
The evaluation of the students work was conducted with the end of year exams in mind. In
particular, I wanted to provide feedback and forward to the students that was targeted towards their
essay writing in the exams at the end of the year. I grouped results from what grades the students
gained against the marking schedule that I developed. Bearing in mind that the sample size was
small, most students attained the merit grade, with the same amount of students being either side of
the merit grade with three respectively. This indicates that the work that is being achieved is at an
above average level, highlighted by no one failing the assessment. The evidence also suggests that
the students are on the way to excellence. With the feed forward being provided there should be a
number of those students who should be attaining excellences in that class at the end of year mock
exams.
In terms of the specific feedback forward itself. There were common trends that came through for
each grade. Figure two, outlines some common themes that came across for each student attaining
those grades. For the achieved level the, students were identifying the causes and consequences.
The feedforward for those students is that if they want to attain merits and excellences they need to
be giving more specific detail to accompany their causes and consequences. What that indicates is
that I need to provide to those students a wider range of examples to allow

Land Title System In Canada
The potential industrial/commercial property being examined as a possible business location is
located in St Pierre Jolys, Manitoba (near Winnipeg, Manitoba). It is important to note in which
province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land
ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of
Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the
territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the
entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the
steps to be taken in real estatesales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles
system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. As an example, with the
registry system, a transfer of ownershipmust be registered, whereas with the land titles system, the
transfer must be filed. Additionally, the registry system does not provide the same protection from
interests that the land titles system does, and as such, requires more risk management steps to be
taken.
There are a magnitude of distinctive concerns that a purchaser would have regarding the property
in question. First of all, since the purchaser would want to change what the property is being used
for, the one would need to know that they can make the necessary changes to the operation of the
land and that

Conflict Resolution as Per Dewey
Throughout one s life, one establishes many relationships. Some are built upon, and become strong
and unshakable, some are broken and left to dissolve. While some are paved slowly and with love,
blossoming to become something wonderful, others are blown apart the pieces scattered, never to
be put back together again. Though these relationships vary, from professional to personal, they are
all prone to encountering some form of conflict. John Dewey has designed a problem solving
sequence with 6 (six) steps, listed and explained below, to facilitate resolution of these conflicts.
Since the way one deals with conflict within the relationship will affect how the relationship

Statue Of Liberty Research Paper
History of the Monument The Statue of Liberty has had many symbolic representations from its
creation. The Statue of Liberty was built by the French and given to United States in 1886. The
French valued the democratic meaning and leaders that had prospered in America such as Abraham
Lincoln. This view can also be transferred to the American point of view. When an American sees
the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis island monumentthey should remember the history and process
that America went through to achieve a fully democratic and equal society. This monument should
commemorate what the American dream means such as Liberty and equality for all. Since this
representation is what many citizens or immigrants thought of when they crossed through... Show

The idea behind it representing a new life for immigrants is the most commonly known yet there
has been pivotal moments in history in which it s representation is taken into different ways to fit
ones argument. At first the French gave the Statue to the US a symbol of a strong relationship
between two democratic nations. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken
shackles at the bottom represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be
freedom from monarchical governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it
soon became a symbol of new beginnings and Liberty. When immigrants hit a new nerve with
Americans, anti immigration believers began using the Statue of Liberty as a way to restrict more
migrants as they thought that these new immigrants would tear down the Statue of Liberty. The
statues reception adjusted throughout the United States with factors such as geography and political
parties. As the Statue was put together during the reconstruction phase after the Civil war, many
southerners thought it was to show the that the union had won and prospered. Also it represented
how there was no longer slaves in the United States. This all contributed to a mostly negative point
of view from the South. In the North, the Statue was widely received as a symbol of a new
America. Many parades were held on the unveiling of the Statue and its popularity quickly

The Most Narcissistic Generation
It is obvious in this self centred society that we have created in this world, that this current
generation is the most narcissistic generation this earth has ever seen. Teens think they can do
whatever they want, and one of these things is that they can ease through life without having to put
any effort in what so ever. Children these days also think that they can wear whatever want from
making them look like a thug with tatts or piercings, another option is not wearing the proper
school uniform with socks down or ties and top buttons not done up properly. The biggest evidence
of narcissismin teenagers in on their phones with social media, because they want the most
followers and likes on their profile. These three reasons make a child feel accepted and social.
Children think life is as easy as walking down the yellow brick road. You cannot let this continue
with your child.
The first reason this is the most narcissistic generation we have ever seen is that these kids think
life is a breeze and they can just stroll through it. This is because they are not taught early on
enough that this is not ok and they should wake up now before it is too late. Some evidence for
this is in an article written by Wendy Squires, titled Is this the most narcissistic generation we ve
ever seen? , said, They re the work experience kids expecting to go straight to the corner office.

Theme Of Sin In The Scarlett Letter
Sin and Symbols in The Scarlett Letter Sin is present in everyone s life and no human can escape
its reach. In The Scarlett letter the main conflict is rooted in one sin between a man and a woman
in colonial Massachusetts. The sin was adultery and there are several vital themes and symbols that
stem from it. Sincontrols and characterizes lives in so many ways that people do not realize. This
is highlighted throughout The Scarlett Letter. Sin and revenge are symbolized by Pearl and
nature in many instances throughout several different chapters. Sin is the most prominent and
reoccurring theme in The Scarlett Letter. Opportunities arose due to Hester s husband being
away for an extended period. After Hester committed adultery with Reverend Dimmesdale her
life was forever changed and furthermore characterized by this theme. He could never escape his
inner guilt for his sin with Hester but could not bring himself to publicly repent. Hester
continued her series of poor choices by agreeing to keep the father of her baby a secret, so he
would not be publicly punished and shamed. The theme continues when her husband arrives in
town angry that she is pregnant, and she also promises to keep his identity a secret to the public.
Her husband, Roger Chillingworth, is then overcome with anger and strives for revenge as he is
seemingly possessed by evil. Hester aids in this sin by not warning Reverend Dimmesdale of

Paganism In All Hallow s Day
Pastor Jamie Morgan believes Christians specifically, and for that matter everyone else, should
not celebrate Halloween. She sees it as the Satan s holiday which is sacrilegious for religious
people to celebrate, calls it a sacred, high holiday (Morgan) for Wicca followers, and all around
implies that no one should bring themselves to the darkness (Morgan). These beliefs are what
scare children, much more so than Halloween ever could. Being threatened with the promise of
eternal damnation in the firey pits of Hell is far more frightening than a witch s broom or a seven
year old with devilhorns ever could be. Many overkill and ill informed religious enthusiasts are
traumatizing their children every year with the preaching and teaching of seriously painful
consequences for putting on a mask and getting candy from people that aren t from their local
church. The argument that Halloween is Satans holiday (Morgan) is uninformed about what
Halloween is derived from, All Hallow s Eve (Newland). All Hallow s Eve is the celebration of
spirits before All SaintsDay, which was taken off most calendars because of the simplification of
the Catholic calendar in 1956 (Newland). It was considered liturgy, and many celebrated both. In
ancient days, the Britons people celebrated these days without a miss. All Hallow s Eve was
originally when they praised Samhain, the lord of death, to take away their dead, and deliver their
sinful spirits to where they belong. All Saints Day was

Mathematics and Theology Blossoming Together
Mathematics and theology have blossomed together throughout history with many great
mathematicians also being great theologians. However, in the modern scientific era, mathematics
has become by and large secularized in mainstream academia. Although the secularization of
mathematics seems to ignore mathematics metaphysical value, in truth, this secularization allows
for mathematics to act as a universal tool and allows the individual to attach his or her own
personal truths without marginalizing the beliefs of others, especially in education. In addition,
attaching one s personal beliefs to systems of math and logicmay lead to contradicting
interpretations of the material when taken into the larger context of society, such as with the
concept of infinity, the meaning of truth and proof, or even the source of mathematics itself. In
essence, the secularization of mathematics is a necessity in our modern dynamic world and in order
for mathematics to maintain its effectiveness as a universal tool our personal beliefs must not be
attached to mathematics as a whole.
To begin with, a proper definition of secularization is necessary in order to establish the correct
connotation for the term. As denoted by the world renowned scholar in the study of the sociology
of religion, Jose Casanova, secularization is spoken of in three senses:
a.)Secularization as the decline of religious beliefs and practices in modern societies, often
postulated as a universal, human, developmental

Thank Bob Dylan With The Nobel Prize
December 20, 2016
Dear Nobel Prize committee,
The Nobel Prize for Literature is an outstanding prize that honors extraordinary people for their
works in literature. It honors people that have changed literature. On October 13, 2016 you
awarded Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in Literature. This marks him as the first musician ever to
win this prize. Many people agree with your decision, while others are not delighted with this fact. I
agree with the committee to honoring Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in literature for having
created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.
Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. While
growing up, Bob was influenced by Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard. He was
also in a few bands while growing up. While he was in college he began performing folk and
country music at local cafes under the name Bob Dillon. In 1960, he dropped out of college and
moved to New York. In New York, Bob met his idol Woody Guthrie and visited him regularly
and became great friends with him. In 1961, he signed his first recording contract at Columbia
Records and became one of the most original influential voices in the history of American
popular music. Throughout his lifetime he s been awarded with Grammy s, Academy and
Golden Globe awards. In 2012, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President

Brooks, gang life is portrayed as dangerous and violent, demonstrating that gang members have to
find a way to compensate and prevent themselves from going overboard. Both passages show the
toughness required to be in a gang, along with the challenges the members face, such as peer
pressure.
In the article What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee, gang activity is described in
detail, and the struggles of membership are shown clearly. For example, ...when your buddies
are jumping someone, there was immense peer pressure to join in, whether you wanted to or
not. This shows that some gang members would do atrocious things just to fit in, not because
they actually wanted to do it. Beginning in the mid 1960 s, the violence in my neighborhood
escalated, and by 1970, a major gang war had erupted. This quote tells us that things got out of
hand and daily life started to get more and more fatal until a fight took place. They didn t hold
themselves back when traumatizing others. I learned early on that in the streets, it was dog eat
dog and survival of the fittest. Here, it proves that gang life is competitive and if you can t keep
up, then you will suffer. You will have to fight... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We real cool. We left school. Here, the author shows two things: that gang members think of
violence as cool , and it also shows that gangsters would drop out of or skip school, which is a
careless act, since education is very important for youths. We lurk late. We strike straight. This
simple quote shows that gang members would get in trouble late at night and get involved with
risky activities. We die soon. Here, the author is suggesting that gang life will often lead to
suffering, or even death. This displays how precarious things can

Insurance is a very important factor to attaining financial viability in an economy. It is a very
difficult concept that requires a profound augmentative erudition of insurable interests, viable
policy holders, risk assessment and management. This essay seeks to provide an overview of
insurance; specifically on assessment, measurement and management of both man made risks and
natural disaster risks. The essay further highlights the re known formulas adopted in measuring man
made risks. In addition to this, it would provide a concise development and challenges arising out
of the use of the riskassessment formulas. Finally, the essay will highlight the difficulty, previously

This aspect increased maritime trade thus increasing the Gross Domestic Product of nations. Since
its inception, the concept of insurance has been revolutionized and is comprehensive enough to
cater for a wide array of risks: man made or natural risks (Westall 2002 p 95). Every insurance
company must as a prerequisite employ financial risk advisors. The financial risk advisors
herein are referred to as actuaries. They serve the function of assessing the risk of a particular
policy and prescribing the amount of premium payable as well as determining the financial
viability of any policy. In doing so, the financial risk advisors base their opinions on the
historical information available. There are two types of risks; manmade and natural disaster.
Man made risks as is ostensible, is derivative of man s actions. They include, though not limited
to, automobile or fire risks. Such risks are highly frequent and less severe; in respect to the
insurer. Consequent to this, a proliferation of information is readily available to estimate the
likelihood of prospective loss. On the other hand, natural risks are derivative of nature. They are
less frequent and very severe. Subsequently, information on the likelihood of loss and occurrence
is minimal. This aspect makes it very difficult to cover natural disasters. Be that as it may, as will
be elaborated, the advent of science and technology has generated a

HSBC has launched a new worldwide advertising campaign designed to define the distinct
personality of the Group s brand and introduce HSBC as the world s local bank .
The campaign will run on TV, in print and online, and over the course of the year it will appear
across the 81 countries and territories HSBC serves worldwide.
The concept was developed following worldwide consumer research which found that, while people
appreciate the value of international organizations and services, they question the prevailing one
size fits all global model. Consumers want to be treated as individuals, and to feel that companies
care about them, recognize their needs and understand what makes their community unique.
Underpinning the advertising is HSBC s philosophy that the world is a rich and diverse place in
which cultures and people should be treated with respect. Around the world, the Group has built its
businesses locally, and HSBC s 31 million customers can be confident that the service they receive
has a world of experience behind it.

The North Africa Conflict
While analyzing the North Africa conflict, a combination of service capabilities would be
required to achieve the desired end state of deterring and if necessary, the defeat of Algerian
guerilla aggression to prevent regional and global destabilization. Taking into account the
current military landscape that exists today, a joint task force (JTF) would be the ideal military
response of the United States and collation partner s while utilizing the regional military assets.
Intelligence suggests guerilla forces are capable of a full scale offensive into Morocco in less
than 36 hour notice, bringing the factors of time, force and space into consideration. The United
States Air Force controls and operates numerous satellites for global positioning, missile
warning, communication and meteorological purposes along with reconnaissance aircraft.
Through a combination of satellite imagery and reconnaissance aircraft, identifying and
collecting intelligence on guerilla military targets and movements would be the first objective
in the conflict. Once targets are identified, bombing campaigns could commence from regional
Air force bases in the Area of Operations (AO), softening up guerilla forces in advance of the next
stage of the military engagement, the ground campaign. Air force tankers such as the HC 130, KC
135 and KC 10 would need to be deployed to offer in flight air refueling for the F 15, F 16, F 22
and A 10 s departing from regional Air force bases. The Air Force also

Corporate Influence And Political Corruption
In today s society many Americans believe that there is corruption within politics. According to
Jeffrey Milyo author of Corporate Influence and Political Corruption, a nationally representative
opinion survey done in 2008 states that, a little more than 50 percent of respondents agreed that
corruption in the federal government is widespread and an extremely serious concern, while fewer
than five percent considered corruption in the federal government to be rare or not a concern
(Konisky, Milyo, and Richardson, 2008). This leads many Americans to believe that politics is an
inherently corrupt activity (Milyo, 2014). This of option of course can be looked at from many
different perspectives. With many major corporations contributing to political campaigns; it is
assumed that these politicians are being bought to further benefit the corporation s agenda.
Therefore, the perspective of Ethical Egoism; contributing to these campaigns is deemed justified
since it would further benefit the company. A politician who invokes an ethical egoism view would
believe that their actions of accepting contributions from a major cooperation would be justified
since it helps them achieve their goal of entering their chosen political position. Since the politician
is achieving what they wish then to them, their actions are justified.
If you follow the logic of utilitarianism, one would argue that contributing to campaigns to benefits
the company and its employees and that insures that

Blindness And Photosynthesis
The fact that the camouflage prey stimulated a lower predation rate compared to the non
camouflage prey indicated that camouflage, body coloration has a significant effect on an
organism in a specific environment. In addition, having camouflage features not only reduced the
predation rate, but influenced a better survival rate. Those who were able to become invisible to
their prey were able to live longer compared to those who were easily identified. Similar results
were evident in an experiment comparing the effects of background color of chameleons on birds
and snakes. Stuart (2008) did an experimental study that showed a greater response to birds rather
than snakes, due to slight color blindness. Poor color discrimination limited the snakes to determine
the location of their prey, the chameleons, compared to the birds (Stuart 2008). Overall, camouflage
advanced the tested chameleons ability to survive.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evolution And Development Within Our Society
Designed Humanity You cannot tell which one is which, as they all look to be average. But then
you see the identical ones, the ones with technology infused artificial joints, or the ones whom
poses a slight fluorescent skin. And by the time you notice it, they are everywhere and you are the
only true human left. As time reaches further, we find ourselves living in the new age of
technology, political rivalries, and weapons of mass destruction that are no longer radical
cartoonists ideas from the television series Roadrunner. This upward rollercoaster of evolution and
development within our society leaves one to ponder over one crucial thing: how will it all come
crashing down? There are many elements around us that could lead to our own horrifying
conclusion and it becomes a simple coin toss to decide our fate. But as many scientistic
developments and fictional novels have foretold, the desperate search for the advancement of the
human race itself can come as glimpse into the mystic future or possibly the end of us completely.
Genetic mutations, at first a simple random mole found of the exterior of the body and the shade of
blue of one s eye seem to be innocent developments in human appearance, but has soon evolved into
a evolution shortcut. The increasing development and advancement in genetic research and
deliberate mutation originates from the eternal and illusionistic desire for human perfection. The

Prostitution And The United States
Prostitution is illegal in the United States and the laws keeping it illegal are causing more problems
than they are solving. Because there are no regulations or laws protecting sex workers in the United
States, and everything is run underground, there is nothing stopping the mistreatment and abuse of
sex workers in the United States. The only way to protect sex workers is to legalize prostitution. In
the following paper, I will attempt to prove that prostitution is a victimless crimeand the laws
against prostitution are hurting prostitutes more than they are helping them. If we want prostitutes
to remain safe while earning a living, the only way to achieve this is to legalize prostitution. A
common objection to the view that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their body is owned by them, not the government so it should not be up to anyone else what
they do with their body. A quote from Robin Barton, a Brooklyn legal journalist, said this in her
article on the website The Crime Report; Women are entitled to control over their bodies. Just as
they should have the right to decide whether they want to remain pregnant, women should be able
to decide for themselves whether they want to engage in sexual acts in exchange for money.
(Barton). Because prostitution is a victimless crime, it should be legalized in order to ensure the
welfare and prosperity of sex workers who are trying to make an honest living and protect them
while doing so.
People in favor of keeping prostitution illegal often mention that during the time the prostitute is
working, they are being forced to consent or they are being raped. My response to this objection is
this; A consenting man and a consenting woman who agree to fornicate for a price is not rape,
especially if there are laws and regulations protecting the prostitute and proper facilities (like a
brothel) keeping them safe and secure. An interesting comparison to prostitution industry, is the
pornography industry. The only difference between these two is the addition of the camera, along
with two consenting adults and an exchange of money. If prostitution was legalized, the regulation
of the business would ensure that the women who are taking part in this trade are not

Visual Analysis Essay On Photo
Photo Analysis In this color photo my eye is immediately drawn to the blue car just below the
direct center of the photograph. The car s paint is faded everywhere except the very front of the
hood making the color a very pale blue. There are two men leaning on either side of the hood, on
the far side the man has his back to the camera and is wearing a blueshirt and a grey hat, the man
on the near side is wearing a plain white t shirt with brown pants with one of the pant legs tied in
a knot because his right leg is absent. You can see the man in whites front side, he is overweight
and has brown curly hair and appears to be holding something but I could not identify what it
was in this picture. On the back side of the car both the trunk and the driver s side rear door are
wide open with two small boxes with handles placed on the ground right below the door. The car
is parked on a bridge constructed of basketball sized rocks dirt and a large metal pipe that a small
stream of dirty water is flowing through. Upstream from the bridge there is a buildup of sticks and
logs that spans the whole stream. The stream starts on the left side... Show more content on

obsessed with tiaras and shiny things. I want the new doll with straight blonde hair and a skinny

Pure beauty.

Completely stunning.
I listen to them admire me but continue to ignore them. I just want to play with my dolls.
I walk into my middle school for the first time. I am scared but I hold myself together with the
confidence that I will be liked by everyone. I always have, why would anything change? I
manage to make friends and they are very nice people. But I notice that we are a group of 3 and
all the other friend groups have 6 or more. I notice that they all have straight blonde hair and
skinny waists. They look just like my dolls at home. I try to start a conversation with one of the
groups. They smirk at me, indicating that I need to go back to my own table. Why don t they like

Raphael Sanzio Da Urbino Essay
Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, known as Raphael, has known art all of his life. His father, Giovanni

Walter because she looks down on people who are not as rich as her, she and many other people

Walter Jr was eating strange, Scout does not think Walther is consider company since he is low

  • 2. Essay about The Wide World of Tea The Wide World of Tea Introduction Consumed as a beverage for the past two to three thousand years in southeast China, tea has an extensive past (Eden 1). The first Chinese tea leaves were believed to be brewed in open pans, however during the Ming Dynasty (1368 1644 AD) it was discovered steeping the leaves in hot water produced the most flavorful drink (Tillberg). Since the heat of the water was an essential component to producing a desirable beverage, a lidded vessel was created to contain the heat during the steeping process. This vessel evolved into the teapot most of us are familiar with today. The cultivation of tea plants is believed to have originated in China, but it soon spread to other areas of Asia. Green tea was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a many stemmed bush that only reaches heights around 2.75 meters high, yet it has a long economic life. The reason for this is that this variety continuously sends up fresh stems so the plants can grow to at least 100 years old and still produce good quality yields of leaves. When this variety is grown at a higher altitude, like Darjeeling, it produces tea with a coveted, valuable flavor (Harler 2 3). The second variety, Assam, is a single stemmed tree that can reach heights of twenty to sixty feet in height. It is found in northeast India and has an economic life of approximately forty years with regular plucking and pruning. This variety has five main subcategories; Manipuri, Lushai, Burma, light leaf Assam, and finally dark leaf Assam. The dark leaf Assam is highly prized for the fine quality golden tip teas it produces (Harler 3). The final variety, the Cambodian variety is also known as the Indo China variety. It is not currently cultivated on any tea plantations, but rather naturally crossed with other varieties to produce particular characteristics in a tea plant. It is a single stemmed tree that reaches heights around sixteen feet high and has leaves that are folded in a V shape, a characteristic unique to this variety (Harler 3). Preparing the Leaves These three varieties of the tea plant are not to be confused with the three preparations of tea leaves; green, oolong, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Did The Great Leap Forward And The Cultural Revolution The research engages with the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, two significant and defining events in Chinese history since the establishment of the People s Republic of China. The Great Leap Forward (1957 60) was a Chinese economic plan initiated by Mao Zedong aimed at revitalizing all sectors of the economy. Wildly unrealistic planning poorly planned communization of agriculture, and a poor harvest in 1959 caused mass starvation. Mao was forced to turn government administration over to Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. His popularity diminished severely and thus launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolutionto regain his popularity. The Cultural Revolution (1966 76) was the mass mobilization of urban Chinese youth inaugurated by Mao Zedong in an attempt to prevent the development of a bureaucratized Soviet style of Communism. Mao closed schools and encouraged students to join Red Guard units, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... democracy. This coupled with the copious allowance for free speech, in the Chinese regard, during the Cultural Revolution and its devastating aftermath which remained potent in the lives of many individuals lead many Chinese to lose faith in their government altogether. This loss of faith and potency of unsavoury memories may have pushed many Chinese to look towards a better political and social systemп‚ѕa democratic one. Chinese society was avidly propagandistic. The aim to maintain a strong communist hold on Chinese society through press and censorship reform had the opposite effect, even subsequently having to be crushed. Thus the events of the Great Leap Forward and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution can be regarded as considerable forces that influenced the Tiananmen Movement and thus its consequent ... • 4. The Positive And Negative Cons Of Credit Cards For many years, there has been an ongoing debate whether using credit cards is a positive or a negative idea. On the positive side, credit cards are a widely accepted method of payment across the globe. One of the benefits of using your credit for payment is foreign travel, when you are traveling out of the country it saves you from having to exchange your dollars for the local currency, your credit cardcompany calculates the exchange rate for you and automatically posts the correct charges to your account. (Yuille). In addition, credit cards are great for emergency situations where you find yourself in the position of having to spend a large sum of money that you had not budgeted for and may not have the money readily available. These unforeseen expenditures can then be worked into a monthly budget and be paid off in a series of monthly installments (Yuille). For instance, making a large purchase with a credit card and promptly making your monthly payments until the debt is satisfied, could improve your credit score which can help qualify for future loans should the need arise (Detweiler). Furthermore, many credit card programs have rewards programs you may be eligible for. Such as, being eligible to receive a percentage of your purchase as a cash back reward, earning airline frequent flyer miles for each dollar you charge to your credit card and often you are offered discounts on daily purchases (Vanderpool). Credit cards also allow for convenience. Having a credit card ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Challenges Of Being A Law Enforcement Officer Hi, Billy, what you discussed made me think about the challenges that Law Enforcement Officers are facing as far as recruiting, and retention have its completion. There are a growing number of private armed security companies that s provided jobs to individuals who may qualify as a law enforcement officer. The standards are so high that judgmental prosecution question a unique ability for a person who provides safety to the public. It makes you wonder if security companies are performing a federal background check. • 6. The Symbolism Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula Bram Stoker s Dracula appears to be a novel predicated upon a racist worldview. 1897, its publication year, was marked by anxieties resulting from the decline of the British Empire from its previous position of hegemony. The increasing unrest in British colonies endangered British imperialism, race, and its cultural conventions, rendering society susceptible to the fear of reverse colonization: the infiltration and influence of former territories. Dracula, travelling to England from Romania, is employed to symbolise this threat. Arata s most thought provoking note is that vampires as an entity are generated by racial enervation and the decline of empire. Thus, by utilizing a foreign vampireas the antagonist of his work, Stoker exploits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A pertinent instant being the sisters first appearance: two [of the sisters] were dark, and had high aquiline noses, like the Count. In this line, the dark sisters are analogous to Dracula, assumedly of the same ethnic origin. Yet, the other was fair [...] with [...] golden hair and eyes like pale sapphires, evidently not of the same ethnicity. Thus it is interesting that she is described in more favourable terms than the darker, golden hair and eyes like sapphires are reminiscent of wealth and western beauty. Contrast this with the red, piercing eyes of the other sisters, which oppose the softer, safer image of the fairer. The passage is narrated by Jonathan Harker, whose first person perspective is influenced by his ethnicity; he sees the sisters through the lens of anxieties plaguing the Victorian British. Hence the distress concerning reverse colonization is palpable, Stoker presents through Harker the ease surrounding those of Western origin, and the discomfort towards outsiders. Stoker s distinction between races is progressively evident in the attack of Harker: the other two urged her [the fair sister] on. One said: Go on! You are first, [...] yours is the right to begin. That the most Western of the three has the right exemplifies British imperialism. Being westernised inherently lends greater power, presenting the western supremacist perspective that predicated Dracula. • 7. Pak Muhamad Sukma s Going Home According to Pak Muhamad Sukma, the author of Going Home believes that education is more than having a high paying job. It is taking the knowledge you have acquired and trying to make a change out of it. Sukma used to think that education is the training needed to get a high paying job. Then a protest occurred in his country, this occurrence allowed him to be awaken with new found knowledge. The protests were about the price increase and an economic crisis, ever since that it has expanded his relatively simplistic view of the world. Leading him to understand that educationcan play a major role in society, even if it has a small difference. I agree with Sukma s statement about education because education is more than the amount of money... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 10th grade I saw Spike Lee s biopic of Malcolm X. From that movie, I learned that Malcolm X was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always like that. Before he became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all changed when he went to prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge, which led him to understand there are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the population of African Americans understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them. Malcolm X believed that people should be treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their counterparts. This influenced people to be more aware of their environment and protest on the problems they face. Eventually, this movement made the government guarantee that African Americans should be given the most fundamental rights. Similar to the protest that Sukma encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged because Malcolm X used his education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree, moreover, the protest allowed people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger cause. Education allows people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the issues they face. This connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social ... How Groups Can Develop And Function Systemically Introduction At first glance, one would assume that this book would be like other books that were designed to repair work group issues either overly opinionated or disassociated with real world relevance s. Creating effective teams was anything like the books I have read in the past, as a matter of fact, the first six chapters was awe inspiring and thought provoking. The author gracefully transitions each chapter beautiful, Chapter one set the tone for the other chapters by asking Why Groups ; the methodology behind that forced the readers to think outside of the boxes not to mention it smoothly transition to five other supportive Chapters. Chapter two described different ways wherein larger organization could potentially aid groups to become more successful, whereas Chapter three discusses how groups can develop and function systemically, while Chapter four visibly frameworks the characteristics of productive teams; Chapter five and six diplomatically define the characteristics of effective members and effective leaders, respectively. Wheelan made it a point to transition each chapter effortlessly, whereas other authors would had been reserved Wheelan didn t hold back any she provided intuitive information that depicted both positive outcomes and negative outcomes. • 9. Ancient Greeks And The Ancient Romans The Romans had one of the most innovative and influential ancient civilizations. Although arguments can be made for the Ancient Greeks and the Ancient Egyptians, it can be seen that the modern world had adopted many of the values and ideas of the Ancient Romans. The achievements, ideas, and values of the Ancient Romans have had a lasting impact on the modern world. The majority of people don t know that many of the things they take for granted came from Ancient Rome. Architecture One of the things the Romans had multiple achievements in that have left a lasting impact on the world is there innovation of architecture. A major, lasting example of Roman architecture is the Roman Colosseum. The Colosseum was used for all kinds of things in ancient Rome including battle re enactments, dramas, executions, and most famous of all, it is the place where the gladiators fought. The unique design of the Colosseum was not like other structures built at this time. A major difference it had from any theater or other event for public viewing was the audience was seated all around the event. The idea of seating the audience all around the event with the event at the bottom in the center became the basis for the modern sports stadium. All stadiums of the modern era are based on the same concept of the Colosseum; so the Colosseum was essentially the first stadium. Making a check with Oxford Dictionary; Southeast Asia is defined as the part of south eastern Asia that includes the countries of Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma (Myanmar), the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. A region refers to an area, especially part of a country or the world having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries, and an identity refers to a close similarity or affinity (Oxford University Press n.d.). As such, these countries share certain relations and ties in order to provide security and to enhance trade along the river so that they may prosper. Furthermore, studies provide evidences that Southeast Asia today displays more homogeneity and convergence than ever before (Acharya 2000) due to the increasing integration and globalisation processes and the increasing socioeconomic disparities in society. The term unity in diversity could also be used to overcome the disparities in culture or practices in between countries and create a more coherent region in terms of social, economic or political stability which then in turn aids in integration within a region and form a regional identity as of the case study of the European Union (EU) (Hellstrom 2003). • 11. Soldiers Home Ernest Hemingway Essay Signs of the PTSR in the Soldier s Home by Ernest Hemingway The Soldier s Home is a short story written by Ernest Hemingway. Its plot focuses on Harold Krebs, a young man, who returned to his home in Oklahoma after two years participation in the World War I. This experience affected Harold and disturbed his full integration into the civil life. The end of the story shows signs of improvement in Krebs s condition, as the man finally decides to find a job. But this changes are shallow the character stayed withdrawal and did not demonstrate a strong wish to participate in common activities of the civil life. It is possible to suggest the man suffered from the Post traumatic stress disorder caused by the war. While Harold s behavior did not correspond fully to the aspect of this disease, Hemingway s description of his actions and attitude includes some symptoms of the PTSD. This complex disorder causes a wide arrange of symptoms, which are broken down into different categories. Evidences of the man s negative thoughts appeared in the scene, where Krebs read the book: He had been a good soldier (Hemingway 3). It looked like the character thought differently about his war experience, and it was the text that helped to change his point of view. It is impossible to claim Krebs was totally hopeless about his future: it looked like the man just did not start to think about this issue. But it is obvious the character did not care too much about his future life: he would gladly continue to maintain his passive daily regimen, if it was not for his parents criticism. • 12. Texting And Driving Is Wrong Texting and driving is something that causes many accidents on the roads. Everyone knows that texting and driving is wrong and could cause an accident. Since that texting and driving is a potentially dangerous behavior, that every single driver behind the wheel knows, but does I anyways because of the deviant behavior and mindset towards texting and driving. When you text and drive you are knowingly taking a risk of an accident because of how texting distracts a person from driving properly. Texting and driving is when you use your phone while operating a motor vehicle. When making this choice to do this, drivers often: drift off to the sides of roads, run stop signals, run into another car, etc. Using your phone any kind of way is distracting because you are taking your eyes off the road, and into a screen. Even though the time it takes to text is really small, that s all it takes to causing a car accident. These behaviors are starting to get embedded in our social norms (Seiler).Texting and driving is growing more common because of the popularity of the use a cell phone and texting. All of a sudden, your friend begins non stop complaining of lower abdominal pain, chills, fever, and a little vomiting. Finally, after a few minutes of hearing them wail and moan, you decide to do something about it. The question is: what do you do? So, you do what anyone in this odd predicament would do, you ask google. • 14. Essay about Doubting Thomas Doubting Thomas According to Webster, Skepticism is the philosophical doctrine that the attainment of absolute knowledge is impossible. It comes from the Greek word skeptesthai meaning to examine, and the practice was brought about during the elementary stages of philosophy by Pyrrho sometime between 360 270 b.c. Some other well known skeptics are Xenophanes, Gorgias, and Sextus Empiricus. Skepticism is very common in today s society, and is practiced in some way by all. He also believed that each theory had it s own contradictory argument, so he suspended judgment on all events.161 The roots of skepticism are also believed to be accredited to Xenophanes, a philosopher and poet of Asia Minor. He believed that if truth were stated. It could not be known In his writings Xenophanes cleverly satirized the polytheistic beliefs of earlier Greek poets and of his own contemporaries. He ridiculed their deities as gods created in the image of the mortals who worshiped them. In a famous passage he asserted that if oxen could paint and sculpt, they would depict gods who resembled oxen. He felt that humans should reject polytheistic ascribing of human motivation and characteristics to inanimate objects, animals, and phenomena and recognize instead a single non human deity underlying and unifying all worldly phenomena. 117 A parallel to Xenophanes philosophy is that which was expressed by Gorgias, a famous Sophist. The Sophists consisted of experienced debaters and speech writers who popularized the ideas of various early philosophers; but based on their understanding of this prior philosophic thought, most of them concluded that truth and morality were ... As one of those social theorists has argued, the real significance of the early phonograph was that it transformed the way people listened to music. Where once music was a unique, live performance, experienced in a public place with a group, now it was heard privately in the home and it was possible to hear the same performance over and over. It is important to note in which province in Canada the property is located because some provinces use a different system for land ownership and transfer than others. For example, in the Atlantic provinces of Canada and parts of Ontario, the registry system is used, and in most of Ontario, the western provinces, and the territories, the land titles system is used. In Manitoba, the land titles system is now used in the entire jurisdiction (reference). Therefore, the location of the property is important in terms of the steps to be taken in real estatesales in Canada because based on whether the registry or land titles system is used, the steps, precautions, etc. That need to be taken vary. • 34. Statue Of Liberty Research Paper History of the Monument The Statue of Liberty has had many symbolic representations from its creation. The Statue of Liberty was built by the French and given to United States in 1886. The French valued the democratic meaning and leaders that had prospered in America such as Abraham Lincoln. This view can also be transferred to the American point of view. When an American sees the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis island monumentthey should remember the history and process that America went through to achieve a fully democratic and equal society. This monument should commemorate what the American dream means such as Liberty and equality for all. The idea behind it representing a new life for immigrants is the most commonly known yet there has been pivotal moments in history in which it s representation is taken into different ways to fit ones argument. At first the French gave the Statue to the US a symbol of a strong relationship between two democratic nations. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new beginnings and Liberty. When immigrants hit a new nerve with Americans, anti immigration believers began using the Statue of Liberty as a way to restrict more migrants as they thought that these new immigrants would tear down the Statue of Liberty. The statues reception adjusted throughout the United States with factors such as geography and political parties. As the Statue was put together during the reconstruction phase after the Civil war, many southerners thought it was to show the that the union had won and prospered. Also it represented how there was no longer slaves in the United States. This all contributed to a mostly negative point of view from the South. In the North, the Statue was widely received as a symbol of a new America. Many parades were held on the unveiling of the Statue and its popularity quickly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Most Narcissistic Generation It is obvious in this self centred society that we have created in this world, that this current generation is the most narcissistic generation this earth has ever seen. Teens think they can do whatever they want, and one of these things is that they can ease through life without having to put any effort in what so ever. Children these days also think that they can wear whatever want from making them look like a thug with tatts or piercings, another option is not wearing the proper school uniform with socks down or ties and top buttons not done up properly. The biggest evidence of narcissismin teenagers in on their phones with social media, because they want the most followers and likes on their profile. These three reasons make a child feel accepted and social. Children think life is as easy as walking down the yellow brick road. You cannot let this continue with your child. The first reason this is the most narcissistic generation we have ever seen is that these kids think life is a breeze and they can just stroll through it. This is because they are not taught early on enough that this is not ok and they should wake up now before it is too late. Some evidence for this is in an article written by Wendy Squires, titled Is this the most narcissistic generation we ve ever seen? , said, They re the work experience kids expecting to go straight to the corner office. ..... The theme continues when her husband arrives in town angry that she is pregnant, and she also promises to keep his identity a secret to the public. Her husband, Roger Chillingworth, is then overcome with anger and strives for revenge as he is seemingly possessed by evil. • 39. Paganism In All Hallow s Day Pastor Jamie Morgan believes Christians specifically, and for that matter everyone else, should not celebrate Halloween. She sees it as the Satan s holiday which is sacrilegious for religious people to celebrate, calls it a sacred, high holiday (Morgan) for Wicca followers, and all around implies that no one should bring themselves to the darkness (Morgan). These beliefs are what scare children, much more so than Halloween ever could. Being threatened with the promise of eternal damnation in the firey pits of Hell is far more frightening than a witch s broom or a seven year old with devilhorns ever could be. Many overkill and ill informed religious enthusiasts are traumatizing their children every year with the preaching and teaching of seriously painful consequences for putting on a mask and getting candy from people that aren t from their local church. The argument that Halloween is Satans holiday (Morgan) is uninformed about what Halloween is derived from, All Hallow s Eve (Newland). All Hallow s Eve is the celebration of spirits before All SaintsDay, which was taken off most calendars because of the simplification of the Catholic calendar in 1956 (Newland). It was considered liturgy, and many celebrated both. In ancient days, the Britons people celebrated these days without a miss. All Hallow s Eve was originally when they praised Samhain, the lord of death, to take away their dead, and deliver their sinful spirits to where they belong. All Saints Day was ... However, in the modern scientific era, mathematics has become by and large secularized in mainstream academia. Although the secularization of mathematics seems to ignore mathematics metaphysical value, in truth, this secularization allows for mathematics to act as a universal tool and allows the individual to attach his or her own personal truths without marginalizing the beliefs of others, especially in education. In addition, attaching one s personal beliefs to systems of math and logicmay lead to contradicting interpretations of the material when taken into the larger context of society, such as with the concept of infinity, the meaning of truth and proof, or even the source of mathematics itself. In essence, the secularization of mathematics is a necessity in our modern dynamic world and in order for mathematics to maintain its effectiveness as a universal tool our personal beliefs must not be attached to mathematics as a whole. To begin with, a proper definition of secularization is necessary in order to establish the correct connotation for the term. As denoted by the world renowned scholar in the study of the sociology of religion, Jose Casanova, secularization is spoken of in three senses: a.)Secularization as the decline of religious beliefs and practices in modern societies, often postulated as a universal, human, developmental ... Both passages show the toughness required to be in a gang, along with the challenges the members face, such as peer pressure. In the article What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee, gang activity is described in detail, and the struggles of membership are shown clearly.
