Proverbs 29 1 He, that being often reproved
hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed,
and that without remedy.
I am convinced by this and other Scriptures
that God’s longsuffering will one day end.
But as long as we have life,
we can repent.
3
When your sin breaks your heart and crushes your
spirit, come to God in repentance.
Psalm 34 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are
of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a
contrite spirit.
As long as we think, “Well, I’m a pretty good
fellow; my sins aren’t too bad.”
We won’t truly repent.
4
Luke 18 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with
himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other
men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as
this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give
tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not
lift up so much as his eyes unto Heaven, but smote
upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a
sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his
house justified rather than the other: for every one
that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that
humbleth himself shall be exalted.
5
Recognition of the sinfulness of our own sin brings
us to true and humble repentance.
The Pharisee thought he was a pretty good
fellow, believing he did so much good.
He was looking through self-righteous eyes.
The publican knew that he was a sinner, and
understood the sinfulness of his own sin.
6
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people
rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the
people mourn.
We need good leadership.
7
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he
that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his
substance.
We see again that we must
choose our friends carefully.
Don’t choose friends who are
always looking for trouble.
8
4 The king by judgment establisheth the land: but
he that receiveth gifts (accepts bribes) over-
throweth it.
A ruler or leader who is in it for his own benefit
will never be good for those he leads.
He will make false
judgments, favoring the one
who pays him the most.
9
5 A man that flattereth his neighbor spreadeth a net
for his feet.
Flattery always has the purpose of deceiving
in order to set a trap for someone.
A flatterer wants to use you, take your stuff, or
do some evil unto you.
He may get caught in
his own trap.
10
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a
snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
Sin always ensnares and destroys.
If you want to live a life
of love, joy, and peace
then live life God’s
Way.

7 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor:
but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
It is a righteous deed to help the poor.
We must not ignore their suffering.
But we can only do good, as we are led by
God’s Holy Spirit.
Help can do more harm than good, if we
are not led by God. We can enable sin
by giving help.
