2. 2
In 2 Peter 2 we are discussing folks who have
stubbornly gone their own way.
They ignore many warnings and walk
right on into trouble, leading others.
2 Peter 2 14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that
cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an
heart they have exercised with covetous practices;
cursed children:
3. 3
2 Peter 2:15 Which have
forsaken the right way, and
are gone astray, following
the way of Balaam the son
of Bosor, who loved the
wages of unrighteousness;
16 But was rebuked for his
iniquity: the dumb ass
speaking with man's voice
forbad the madness of the
prophet.
…thinking only of
adultery when they see
women.
The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An
Exposition of the Scriptures by Dallas
Seminary Faculty.
They love money and stuff.
4. 4
So many can’t think of women as
sisters or men as brothers.
It’s all about sexuality in their carnal minds.
This ought not so to be.
1 Peter 1 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in
obeying the Truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned
love of the brethren, see that ye love one another
with a pure heart fervently:
5. 5
1 Peter 3 8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having
compassion one of another, love as brethren, be
pitiful, be courteous:
Others can’t think of working except in terms
of money, greed, or financial success.
Even the work we do at church.
6. 6
Galatians 5 13 For, brethren, ye have been called
unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to
the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all
the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou
shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 15 But if ye bite
and devour one another, take heed that ye be not
consumed one of another.
7. 7
God showed Balaam’s
donkey the angel with the
sword, standing ready to
kill him.
Balaam wouldn’t open his
eyes and look.
8. 8
17 These are wells without water, clouds that are
carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of dark-
ness is reserved forever. 18 For when they speak
great swelling words of vanity, they allure through
the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness,
those that were clean escaped from them who live
in error.
Wells without water are people claiming the
Name of Jesus, yet without the Holy Spirit.
9. 9
19 While they promise them liberty (from rules, etc),
they themselves are the servants of corruption: for
of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he
brought in bondage. 20 For if after they have
escaped the pollutions of the world through the
knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the
latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
We can be delivered, but so many love sin.
They won’t believe that the wages of sin is death.
10. 10
False teachers offer liberty
from righteousness, while
ignoring the bondage of sin.
The weak grab onto such
false teaching, because it
fits with their own desires.
11. 11
21 For it had been better for them not to have
known the way of righteousness, than, after they
have known it, to turn from the Holy Command-
ment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened
unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is
turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that
was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Deliverance from sin is God’s good gift to us.
When we go back to it, we hurt ourselves.
12. 12
So many people hear the
Truth and understand, but
choose to walk in the
momentary pleasures of sin.
