1. King Ahab coveted Naboth's vineyard but Naboth refused to sell it since it was his family inheritance.
2. Jezebel had Naboth falsely accused and stoned to death so Ahab could take the vineyard. Ahab did seize the vineyard after Naboth's death.
3. God condemned Ahab's actions through Elijah and prophesied disaster would come upon Ahab's house, though Ahab showed signs of repentance at this time.

Ecclesiastes 9:13-15 God remembered: Noah, Abraham, His promise, His mercy, His covenant, Hannah, Rachel, that we are but dust, our alms, our iniquity, but He does not remember the sins of the righteous. What will God remember about you?
God's sovereignty is evident in every aspect of life. Redemption is the overarching purpose of divine sovereignty. Genesis 31 reveals God's hand and heart in Jacob's relationship with Laban, a wiley, manipulative uncle, father-in-law, employer. This chapter is filled with lots of practical, relevant lessons in God's redemption for all of us.
All wrapped up in himself, Ahab went out to walk along the wall of the palace, where he noticed the vineyard of aboth. He began looking at and then coveting (longing for with
envy) this vineyard, and he began to plan a way to buy it from aboth so that he could turn it into a vegetable garden. Ahab was quite aware of the tenth commandment: "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant [employees] or his ox [tractor] or his donkey [car] or anything that belongs to your neighbor." (Exodus 20:17.) But he made his plans anyway, only to discover that the vineyard was not for sale because aboth said, "The LORD forbid me that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers." He refused to sell the land to the king based on the law of Moses which stated, "...o inheritance of the sons of Israel shall be transferred from tribe to tribe, for the sons of Israel shall each hold to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers." (umbers 36:7; see also Leviticus 25:23-28.) aboth was bound by the command of God and not by a personal issue.”

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

King Ahab wanted Naboth’s
vineyard for a vegetable garden.
Naboth said, “I can’t sell my
inheritance; it’s against the Law.
1 Kings 21
5. 5
1 Kings 21:14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth
is stoned, and is dead. 15 And it came to pass, when
Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was
dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take
possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite,
which he refused to give thee for money: for
Naboth is not alive, but dead.
Mission accomplished!
Will it bless Ahab?
He should have repented of his envy.
6. 6
16 And it came to pass,
when Ahab heard that
Naboth was dead, that
Ahab rose up to go down
to the vineyard of Naboth
the Jezreelite, to take
possession of it.
Naboth was murdered
in the king’s name,
and now the king
steals his vineyard.
It began with envy,
led to murder, and
finally theft.
7. 7
17 And the Word of the
LORD came to Elijah the
Tishbite, saying, 18 Arise,
go down to meet Ahab
king of Israel, which is in
Samaria: behold, he is in
the vineyard of Naboth,
whither he is gone down
to possess it.
God knows
exactly where
we are.
Once again God used Elijah
to reprimand Ahab.
8. 8
19 And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus
saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken
possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying,
Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs
licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy
blood, even thine.
Murder and theft
A shameful death for the king.
Thus saith The Lord.
9. 9
20 And Ahab said to Elijah,
Hast thou found me, O mine
enemy?
How sad it is when men are
so wicked that they consider
the man of God their enemy.
They hate Truth because it reveals
their own wickedness.
10. 10
Proverbs 29:27 (TLB) The good hate the badness
of the wicked. The wicked hate the goodness of the
good.
We, the children of God, don’t hate the person,
but we can and must hate their wickedness.
Tolerance is the great virtue of the world today.
But God says:
Romans 12 9 … Abhor (detest) that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good.
11. 11
1 Kings 21 20b And he answered, I have found thee:
because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the
sight of the LORD.
He had sold himself to work evil, because he lied,
murdered, and stole to get what he wanted.
Jezebel wrote the letters, but in Ahab’s name.
She sealed them with Ahab’s seal.
He knew and allowed it to be done.
12. 12
21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take
away thy posterity (descendants), and will cut off
from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and
him that is shut up and left in Israel,
Judgment of God
It may seem harsh, but this king was one of God’s
people who sold himself into sin.
He knew the Laws of God and
deliberately defied them.
13. 13
22 And will make thine house like the house of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of
Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation
wherewith thou hast provoked Me to anger, and
made Israel to sin.
His own personal sin was bad enough, but he
had also led the nation in idolatry and evil.
There would be no dynasty of Ahab, because all of
his male descendants would die young and badly.
14. 14
23 And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The
dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.
24 Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat;
and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air
eat. 25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did
sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the
LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.
Jezebel incited Ahab to sin, but he
went willingly along with her.
15. 15
James 1 14 But every man is tempted, when he is
drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then
when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and
sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
We do what we do because
we are who we are.
16. 16
26 And he did very abominably in following idols,
according to all things as did the Amorites, whom
the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
(TLB) 26 He was especially guilty because he
worshiped idols just as the Amorites did -- the
people whom the Lord had chased out of the land
to make room for the people of Israel.
17. 17
27 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those
words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth
upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and
went softly (meekly).
Ahab was sorry that his sins
caught up with him.
But, for whatever reason, he humbled
himself and repented.
18. 18
28 And the Word of the LORD came to Elijah the
Tishbite, saying, 29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth
himself before Me? because he humbleth himself
before Me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but
in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his
house.
The destruction to come on Ahab’s house would not be
carried out in his own days but in those of his son
Joram. Jezebel, however, did not repent. She suffered
all that God promised she would without mercy.
