For my music video there will be a lot of
attention to mise en scene. I will be using
different props to convey certain meanings
and to also represent my artist and his
genre. For example my main character will
be wearing headphones to allow the
audience to identify the music. I have also
given my artist a motif for the audience to
recognise my artist.

The main character of my music video should
be wearing headphones which should
emphasise the electronica chillwave of the
artist’s genre. Chillwave artists are always
seen wearing headphones during there gigs
so this is a good common convention to
apply in music video. Wearing the
headphones should also enable the
audience to differentiate betwenn the main
character and his spiritual self.

My artist’s motif will be recognised by the use
of heart props. The reason for this is
because the narrative of my music video
centres around my artist having a heart
condition. There will be many intercuts and
references to the character having a heart
condition and I will be doing this by
capturing many close ups and extreme close
up of props such as a fake heart. I will also
be using other props that can be metaphor
for his heart condition.

This prop will be used for many scenes, the
reason I need this prop is because I plan to
shot an extreme close up of a fake heart
being squished, which connotes the idea
and feeling of having a heart attack. This
scene will be edited in time with the music
and will sync with the drums.

I will need to purchase a heart shaped stress
ball, this will be used near towards the
ending of my music video; the main
character will be seen holding this before he
has a heart attack. It will be used to
illustrate the main character not worrying
about him dying and finally accepting his
death. This stress ball also suggests how the
main character developed his heart
condition.

I will be using red paint to create splatters it
will also connote the blood. I will also be
painting different backgrounds that I could
use as an overlay background when editing.

There will be a scene where I will be
smashing a wine glass filled with grape
juice/ wine or drink with red colour. This
scene will be quick paced and will intercut
near towards the ending of the music video
and the editing will sync with the music.
The idea behind this scene is to suggest the
idea of a heart attack or the characters
heart bursting.

There will be one extreme close up shot of a
girl drinking through a straw in a
transparent red cup. The drink should be
red to connote blood. The idea behind this
shot is to metaphor lack of blood
circulation. This shot will happen at the
point when my character is in pain due to
his condition.
