1. Proposal
The genre of my magazine is current affairs which is about contemporary events that are
happening in our day to day lives. Therefore, I have decided to use the name ‘INFORMER’
for my magazine. Reason being is because the word ‘informer’ relates to the word current
which is part of the main theme. This will suggest to the reader that the magazine will
include all the latest news just by looking at the front cover. The name is simple and
effective thus catching the consumers attention. The main strapline for my magazine is ‘FOR
THE NATION, BY THE NATION’. The use of repetition emphasises who the magazine is for
and indicates that the consumers are equivalent to the creators of the magazine, this will
persuade the reader to carry on further. In addition, the strap line also uses a command
which convinces the reader to purchase and be engaged with the magazine. To summarise,
the strapline is telling the reader that all the virtuous information is in front of you and be
prepared to relish the information. The main feature of my first cover will be about
coronavirus as it’s a current global pandemic. More specifically the main image and issue
will be about its effect on the world. The main cover line will be ‘THE NEW NORM’. This
illustrates that we must adapt ourselves in our daily lives. The additional contents that I will
include will be about the NHS and sporting events that were due for this year such as
Wimbledon. My magazine will have three sections and the contents that will be included
are: social, environmental and international. In the social section it will contain issues such
as bullying, racism, poverty and violent crime. The environmental segment will have air
pollution, climate change, biodiversity, recycling and plastic pollution. The second issue of
my magazine will consist of racismand the current issue of why people are being treated
differently because of their skin colour. The main coverline is ‘BLACK LIVES MATTER’, this is
a short but powerful phrase which will get the message directly across. The contents page
will include the topic which racismaffects such as in crime, in sports, in education, white
privileges and opportunities. The target audience of my magazine will be aimed at the
category C1 who are lower middle class, they have jobs such as shop manager, office worker
and social worker. This is because the price of the magazine will be £4 which is an affordable
price. The ages targeted will be between 18 and 50 as its formal and the graphic elements
will include simple fonts and four images in each issue on the contents page. Most of the
audience will be mainstreamers, these are people who have tried and trusted brands that
are value for money. They like to think that they are a part of a larger group of like-minded
people and are less likely to take risks, they seek security. The date the magazine will be
published is on the 10/9/20.
