2. Tsunami
A sea wave of local or distant origin that results from
large-scale seafloor displacements associated with large
earthquakes, major submarine slides, or exploding
volcanic islands.
Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater
explosions, landslides, glacier calving, meteorite impacts
and other disturbances above or below water all have the
potential to generate a tsunami.
4. EARTHQUAKE
An earthquake (also known as a quake, tremor or temblor)
is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth’s
crust that creates seismic waves.
Earthquakes are measured using observations
fromseismometers.
The moment magnitude is the most common scale on
which earthquakes larger than approximately 5 are reported
for the entire globe.
8. POWER SUPPLY
Step down transformers of 230V primary to 12V
secondary voltages for the +5V power supplies
respectively.
Stepped down voltage is then rectified by 4 1N4007
diodes.
High value of capacitor 1000 μF charges at a slow rate
as the time constant is low, and once the capacitor
charges there is no resistor for capacitor to discharge.
This gives a constant value of DC.
IC 7805 is used for regulated supply of +5 volts in order
to prevent the circuit ahead fromany fluctuations.
9. PIEZO-ELECTRIC SENSOR
The Piezo-electric vibration sensor is used to sense
earthquake. We use IC LM358 as a main component.
Sensor is connected to the pin no 3.
10. MICROCONTROLLER
The 8051 family of microcontrollers is based on an
architecture which is highly optimized for embedded
control systems.
It is used in a wide variety of applications from military
equipment to automobiles to the keyboard.
The AT89S52 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit
microcontroller with 8K bytes of in-system programmable
Flash memory.
The device is manufactured using Atmel’s high-density
nonvolatile memory technology and is compatible with the
industry standard.
11. Display section
The display section consists of 16*2 LCD, which used to
display Summary of IC being Inserted and result of test
being conducted.
12. ENCODER AND DECODER
An encoder is a device, circuit, transducer, software
program, algorithm or person that converts information
from one format or code to another, for the purposes of
standardization, speed, secrecy, security, or saving space
by shrinking size.
A decoder is a device which does the reverse operation of
an encoder, undoing the encoding so that the original
information can be retrieved.
