INTRODUCTION
General Introduction of the Project
The facilities to be executed under this project (Package-II) comprise Design, Supply, Installation, Testing
and Commissioning of In and Out Arrangement of 500kV Guddu-Multan 3rd Circuit at Rahim Yar Khan
500kV Substation.
The facilities under the subject Package-II was awarded to Gam Arak Ind. Co. The Notification of Award
(NOA) was issued by General Manager, (GSC) South, NTDC on September 2nd, 2010 and contract was
signed on February 2nd, 2011. The work under this contract comprises Design and Engineering,
Procurement and supply of Materials, Soil Investigation, construction of Foundations, Tower Erection,
Stringing and Testing and Commissioning Transmission line. The construction of the subject project is
being financed by Japanese Bank of International Cooperation (Loan No.PK-P58). The local currency
portion is financed by National Transmission & Dispatch Company Ltd. (NTDC).
Rahim Yar Khan 500/220 kV Grid Station is located in the Penjab Province of Pakistan. The Substation
site is located on main National Highway at a distance of 680 Km from Karachi and 185 Km from Sukkur.
The In and Out Arrangement shall be made at Rahim Yar Khan 500 kV Substation of 500kV Guddu-Multan
3rd Circuit. The salient feature of transmission line is crossing of Indus River between Mithon Kot and
Chachran.
In and Out Arrangement of 500kV Guddu-Multan 3rd Circuit at Rahim Yar Khan 500kV Substation with
Quad Bundle ACSR “Drake” Conductor (about 30+30 Km) of Rahim Yar Khan 500kV Substation and
Associated 500kV transmission line project shall be constructed and completed on design, manufacture,
supply, installation, testing and commissioning basis, in accordance with the contract documents.
Employer has nominated “NESPAK+BARQAAB joint Venture” as their Representative on this project.
Time for completion of all the facilities as a whole is 823 days determined from the effective datem which
is May 4th, 2011.
PLANNING
The contract completion period was 823 days and planning was made to complete the project on time. In
this regard we deputed a team of experienced Engineers & Supervisors as per site Organization Chart.
The Project Time Schedule was initially submitted to Employer’s Representative vide our letter No.90-
425 dated 09.04.2011. Due to delay in receiving the Local Currency Component (LCC) Advance Payment
(May 4th, 2011), nearly 2 months after date of invoice (March 3rd, 2011), the time schedule was revised
and submitted to NESPAK Head Office vide letter No.90-2085 dated 09.05.2011, with May 4th, 2011, as
Effective Date.
